Hi everyone

Yes, we are over for half term (no suprise there Gina!) - have been in touch with the pasty shack to get extra supplies in .

Have just spent a happy half hour on Youtube - if you type in San Javier Spain there are a lot of videos from the jazz festival -Ramsey Lewis, Bo Diddley etc.  Looks fab.

Praying (after the wash out at Easter!) for good weather next week - gotta be better than Yorkshire at any rate

That sounds interesting thanks.

I read "Driving over lemons" and "Parrot in a pepper tree"  by the ex Genesis blokey whose name I cant remember.

I really enjoyed them and will be buying his third one too.

Hi Laury,

More good reads for you Shooting Caterpillars in Spain by Alex Browning.

No Going Back by Martin Kirby and The Almond Blossom Appreciation Society by Chris Steward.

Just fab reading and right up my tree, the books keep me in Spain... We are over for the half term, so will have a look on Amazon. Anyone else with good reads?

Hi Laury,

Just finished reading the 3rd book from Chris Stewart (Almond Blossom Appreciation Society). Not as good as the first two, but still worth a read.

We may bump into him next week as we are flying over to Granada then driving down to the Alpujarras for a few days, staying just outside Orgiva. After that we're driving across to Marbella for a couple of days to check progress on our appartment build.

Regards

John

Hi Dave,

We have stayed in the Narejos twice great location  for the beach, rooms very clean we had a good sized room on the end looking onto pool area with a wrap around balcony. We only ate in the resturant once for breakfast as we prefer to eat out and all the restaurants and bars are all in walking distance.

Hotel have entertainment on every night for adults and children im sure you will have a good time,

Shirley.

Hi everyone

If anyones interested in golf out there - have just booked a round at La Serena. Should have been 80 Euros each but went through Club Murcia website (not sure if I can put a link on here but just google it) & got it for 58 Euros. Only a small deposit to pay & fully refundable if we cancel with 24 hours notice.

Diane - I'm still trying to book tickets for the festival with the help of your information.  Think I'm ringing at wrong times for the festival office as I can never get a reply.  Have emailed them and they'e sent the same contact numbers back !!  Tried to buy on servicam on the net and the phone, but have to have a DNI number (no idea what that is - is it the same as NIE??) and my spanish post code (not a clue) for the net, and when ringing, the only person able to speak english is busy.  Tried my pigeon spanish but that just proved how bad I am.  Frustrated or what !  I'll get them now if it kills me!

I forgot to mention in my last post, DNI is Documento Nacional de Identidad - ID card for Spanish people - so a foreigner's equivalent must be the NIE number.

As for the postcode ...  If you haven't been told what it is, I guess there must be a website somewhere where you could find postcodes from street addresses.  I don't know what it is though!

Hi Diane - thanks again, you're a star for getting all that information.  I'll try again this week.   I go to the festival every year and really enjoy it.  I'm not a huge jazz fan, but the mixture of late night music in the warm open air and laid back spanish atmosphere makes it very special, as does the venue.  This year i want to buy the tickets for friends as a surprise - as they always take me, so I'm determined to get them!!  I'll let you know how it goes..................

Hi All,

We are back  . Had a fab time, weather was hot, hot, hot. It was lovely to relax this time without running around the shops for furniture. Swimming in the mar menor was like a warm bath Gr8. Found lots of new places and really enjoyed it. Tell Trevor Mcdoughnut we are happy bunnies!! LOL. Counting down to the next visit  Jane, went to pilar beach again, love it there too. Can't remember the name again, but nothing new there then  .
