Hey all

I was invited to come and have a look at this thread as you are all having blethers about Mar Menor so thought I would say hello.

I am in the process of looking for a rented property in this kind of area, I am considering the big move in likely Nov. My hubbie works offshore and I will be on my own for half a month and want to go somwhere where its busy and I will meet people and not feel too lonely (hopefully). I have seen a few apts in Horadada, mar menor and Sucina etc but its just with not having been over, I am slightly lost as looking at a map is one thing....as I am sure you all know!

I have already made a friend on this website so it would be nice to make some more!

My name is Sarah, I have 2 children 3 and 11 and I can't wait to MOVE TO SPAIN!!!! Any tips advise and anything else will always be gratefully recieved!

Sarah

Hi Sarah

I said hi on your other thread but hi again. Glad you're making friends in here, it's so easy, most are great. We've met a few as I said before, & we hope to meet many more. You're obviously many years my junior but age is irrelevant to becoming friends.

Hi Sarah

We are fairly new to the area, but the first time we went there after looking in lots of areas we felt that this was the place. we certainly haven't changed our minds and every time we go over the harder it is to come home. Lots of lovely places around the mar menor and plenty to do. We wanted to be walking distance of the beach so didn't buy inland, but depends what you want. Santiago de Ribera (where we are), Los alcazares, San Pedro, Pilar de Horada are all lovely places and we spend a lot of time between them. I have made a lot of friends through the forum too. Meeting up with a few in august, can't wait.

You will know when you find the right place.

Hi Sarah, glad you joined in.  Sadly I can't get my head in a bucket like Gina and morerosado, so I can't give you any of the fantastic pics that they do........what the heck .........we'll just enjoy looking at theirs instead!

Let us know when you intend going over.  If any of us are there at the same time we could show you some of the area.  Enjoy the forum.

Jane

Hello

think I am going to have to go VERY soon, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO confused. One person telling me I would be better off around the golf resorts because things are open all year round and to avoid resorts because they are like ghost towns in the winter,

Then when I enquired about a property in Mar menor to a property company on the net, they told me I would be better off away from the golf resorts, eg Mar menor, Horadada etc as there are so many empty houses and building work going on, that I would end up very lonely when my hubby away, Also that Polaris are miles from anywhere so not ideal if you dont want to drive for miles to get anywhere. He apologised for being negative but knowing that i will be on my own a lot, he thinks I be better off in Torrevieja or Cabo roig area.

I had just been told that Torre/pilar horadada, El Mojon, san pedro area are all lovely with loads to do and will suit me to a tee and had thought that is where I would be best to base my plans on and see how it goes and now.......well I am going off my head as I am now all to pot and worried I am looking in the wrong places.

I feel like Crying as this is getting SO stressful and i am so so sosososososososososos confused. HAVE to go speak to my hubby and suggest we make a trip ASAP before i change my mind altogether.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Oh Sarah, don't get stressed out. Tell you what, why not arrange to go over November when it'll be quieter & see just how busy different places are. Weather during the day should be fantastic although the nights are definitely starting to cool off.

If I was you I'd contact these two great guys who are both estate agents & who post on EOS. "Georgia" is in Guardamar near where we live & "Gillespie" is in Puerto de Mazarron, I believe. I had the great priviledge to meet both in June & they are smashing guys. Between them they'll advise you best. Tell them I gave you their details.

Email shaun@rightmoveespana.com (Georgia) of http://www.rightmoveespana.com/

Email ken@propertyshopsgroup.com (Gillespie) of http://www.propertyshopsgroup.com

Hi Sarah

Santiago is great, we love it.  I'm going to have to be careful now as i could upset some people. This is my own personal opinion so if I get stick then I get stick.....................

We rented twice in Polaris while waiting for our place to be completed. Over christmas and new year and also in May. If you happen to be in with the crowd I suppose it is ok. We saw no one over there and there is nothing much to do. We like the idea of being able to walk to the beach and along the prom. Visit the town and to have amenities close at hand. Our community is so friendly and all our neighbours we have met so far are great. As I say, it is all down to personal choice so go to different places and see what you feel. You will know where and what is right for you. We did and have never looked back.

Candyfloss

If I send you a link for the Villa, will you give me your PERSONAL opinion on that too, ha ha

I want to be able to walk places, I love walking although - I dont want to Walk forever to get places. I want somewhere nice, friendly, with plenty to do close by. Just like what you are saying.

I will mail you the link for Villa, see what you think for Value for money?Do you mind?

Hi Sarah

I am in the same place as Gina, Santiago de la Ribera. It really is a great place, its quiet in February but there are lots of places to go, Easter was busier but the last 2 weeks July) were fabulous, lots for the kids on the beach & lots of fun going on in the evening. Try a week there to see how you like it. Its a developing town so we see a great future there.

Hope your search is successful

Eileen
