I am going to explain you some spanish words or expessions from this song:

 La Pepa: So was named tha Spanish Constitution of 1812.It was enacted by the Parliament of Spain, in March 19,  1812, in Cádiz.The historical importance is big, as it was the first one enacted Constitution in Spain and besides being one of the most liberal in its time.About the origin of his nickname, La Pepa, the Constitution was enacted the day of Saint José, where would the nicKname.The monument started to be built in 1912 and finished in 1928; it was unveiled in March-19, 2001.The name "La Pepa" has been used, many years, in different words, in the Carnival of Cadiz --it is celebrated, each year, around the second or the third week of February--.

La Tia Norica:  La Tia Norica from Cadiz is a tradition of marionettes, which has 200 years old.This tradition disappeared in 1959; but it stayed in the memory of the people from Cadiz; even, almost each year, it is remembered in some words of the Carnival of Cádiz.In 1984, the City Council created the new theater company, for the current "Teatro de La Tia Norica".

 

By the way, the City Council is preparing the new building of the old  "Teatro de títeres de La Tia Norica" = "Puppet Theater of La Tia Norica", to mark the Bicentenary of the Courts of Cádiz.

     I have just hear,on National Radio of Spain, to one of the spanish survivors in Haiti, who has just come to Spain and has said: "Nosotros no somos la noticia, la noticia está allí" = "We are not the news, the news is there".And, after that, he has finished, saying: "Aquí, tenemos agua potable para ducharnos; allí, no tienen agua para beber" = " Here, we have potable water for showering; there, they have no water for drinking"; that impressed me.

    Another thing,that impressed me, was watching, on tv, the rescue of a pregnant woman.She and her baby (unborn), still alive, were, during four days, under several tons of debris.It has been a miracle!, the miracle of Life.More than a hundred thousand people without life or exhausting it, because the international help does not arrive there, as quickly as it should be necessary, but a woman is abble to survive and hold her baby ´s life.It seems to be incredible.

Sunday, 17:  This afternoon, I have watched, on tv, the picture of that baby (a girl); she is well and her mother too.It is the kind face for hopness, between such a pain.I am so glad.

 "El Templo de Debod" is an Egiptian temple, situated in the center of Madrid.

Behind the two arches, you can see the temple --althought it is not clear, because the picture was taken against the sun--.

This temple is situated in the middle of a relative big but nice park (Parque del Oeste), on a top, where was the Cuartel de la Montaña = Barracks of the Mountain, where happened a sad episode of the Spanish Civil War.When this Temple came to Spain, it was put with a similar way like its original place: from East to West.

 To the right of the picture, --going out of the park--, you can find  two famous streets in Madrid: La calle Ferraz and El Paseo del Pintor Rosales.

On the left side of the picture, you can see the building named "Edificio España"; it is situated in the famous square "Plaza de España".To left side is the street named "Calle de la Princesa" and to the left side, you can get the street named "Calle Gran Via". When you go up the "Gran Via" street, you can arrive to the "Puerta del Sol".

Now, I am going to tell you the curious story of the Templo de Debod.

This Temple was a present, from Egypt to Spain, in 1968, in compensation for the spanish help, after the international call, from the UNESCO, in order to save the temples of Nubia (region situated to the South of Egypt and North of Sudan), above all the Abu Simbel´s one, which had danger of disapearance, cause of the construction of the dam of Asuan.Egypt donated 4 from the saved temples, to some different collaborator nations: Dendur, to United States (actually situated in the Metropolitan Museum of New York); Ellesiya, to Italy; Taffa, to Holland; and Debod, to Spain.

Debod is 2.200 years old.Its oldest core was built under the Pharaoh Ptolomeo IV Filópator.

In Egypt, it was situated in Debod (a little town, on tha bank of the Nilo river. in Nubia, to the South of Egypt.

The King Ptolomeo IV Filópator or perhaps the King Adijalamani ordered to build, around the year 200 a. C., a chapel in honor of the god Amon from Debod, in the little town of Debod.

 At the begining, they wrer only 3 girls: Amaya, Izaskun y Estibaliz Uranga, with the name: Las hermanas Uranga = The Uranga sisters.Step by step, were uniting more brothers and friends to them and, so, they created the group "Voces y guitarras" = "Voices and guitars".After doing little shows in Vizcaya, they send some songs to several producers in Madrid.Then, the Producer Juan Carlos Calderón, talks to them and he was their Producer during 11 years.

   They chaged the name of the group to MOCEDADES.Then, in 1969, they got their first success: "Pangue Lingua" and, some years after, the song "Eres tú"; with this song, they represented to Spain in The European Song Contest, in 1973, getting the second position.If you want to watch the video of that moment, clic down here:

In 1988, Carlos Zubiaga and José Ipiña left the group; but, go into the group Iñaki Uranga.

In 1993, Ana Bejerano and Iñaki Uranga left the group; but Ines Rangil go into as a vocal.

Actualy, the group is formed by: Javier Garay, Izaskun Uranga, Luis Hornedo, Fernando González, and Rosa Rodríguez.Izaskun is the only one member of Mocedades, who stays from 1969.

Amaya started her race alone, but without success.She published 4 records, before going into the new group EL CONSORCIO.

Also, in 1973,Sergio Blanco and Estibaliz Uranga, left Mocedades and created their own duo SERGIO Y ESTIBALIZ.Actualy, they are in the group EL CONSORCIO.

In 1993, the group EL CONSORCIO was created by: Amaya, Estibaliz and Iñaki Uranga, Carlos Zubiaga and Sergio Blanco.
