Just this year, that is finishing, 2009,it is one hundred year old that , in Spain, was invented the tradition of eating grapes the last night of each year --like today, in less than 4 hours (at 12:00 h.)--.It is said that, in 1909, there were a lot of grapes --there was excess-- and the Goverment thought that it should be a good idea to spend the grapes, celebrating the end of the year --one grape for each of the 12 strokes--.Since then, it is celebrated in the Puerta del Sol, in Madrid, with the strokesod the big clock.

 ROSA was born in a village of Granada and  started her race, in Music, after being in the Academy of "Operación Triunfo" (in the First Edition of the Competition).She won the Competition and, moreover, she was very loved, inside the Academy and out of it --in fact shegot being named "Rosa de España"--.

When she went out of the Academy, she represented to Spain in The Eurovision Song Contest, in 2002.

Her first album was named "Rosa".It includes 12 songs, as for example "La apuesta", with her companier Manu Tenorio.Also, Rosa sings the song "I say a little prayer", by Aretha Franklin.

In 2003, afeter overcoming a problem with her throat, she publishe the album "Ahora" = "Now".Here, she sings some songs in Spanish and others in English.

In 2006, Rosa published the album "Me siento viva".Here, she made an important change in her life.

In 2008, she published the album "Promesas".Here, Rosa sings several songs by Michael Bolton, Black, Diana Ross and Scorpions.

 Rosario Flores is a daughter of Lola Flores (the most famous "Bailaora" = "Flamenco dancer" in Spain, who died in 1995, and Antonio González "El Pescailla".

Rosario Flores started her race in Music in 1984, with the album "Vuela una noche".But, in 1992, she got her first success, with the album "De ley".In this album, some of the best songs, were wrotten by her brother Antonio.

In 1994, she published the album "Siento" = "I feel".

In 1996, she published the album "Mucho por vivir" = "Very much to live".

In 1998, she published the album "Jugar a la locura" = "To play to madness".Thanks to it, she was nominated to the Latin Grammy.

Her next album was "Muchas flores" = "A lot of flowers".It is a mixing between Bolero, Bossa Nova, Rumba catalana --that was invented by her father-- and Pop.With it, in 2002, she got the Latin Grammy.

In 2001, she went into the Movies, with Pedro Almodóvar, in "Hable con ella".

In 2004, she published the album "De mil colores", that gave her the sixth Gold Record.

In 2006, she publishe the album "Contigo me voy".She thinks that it is her most solid work.

 The group COMPLICES was born in 1987, when Teo Carralda and Germán Copini deciden to leave the group "Golpes bajos", in order to start their own races, alone.Then, Teo Carralda created the group COMPLICES, with his girlfriend, Maria Monsonis, and the musicians Tino DiGeraldo and Billy Villegas.

Gabinete Caligari was a group, created in 1981, by: Jaime Urrutia --at voice and guitar--, Ferni Presas --as bass guitar-- and Edi Clavo --with the drum--..They took this name from a german film, named "The Doctor Caligari´s office".

Their first work was a single, with 4 songs, shared with the group: "Paralisis permanente".

In 1983, they published their first album: "Que Dios reparta suerte", where they show a more spanish style, with songs of Pasodoble and related with bullfighting, like "Sangre latina".

In 1984, they published the album "Cuatro rosas", that was a great success and they were considerated one of the most famous group in the "Movida Madrileña".

In 1986, they published the album "Al calor del amor en un bar".The song which gives the name to the album, is the most listened song, in that moment.

In 1987, they published the album "Camino Soria".It was a great success for them.

In 1989, they published the album "Privado", with one of their most listened songs, "La culpa fue del cha-cha-cha".

In 1991, they published the album "Cien mil vueltas", After it, they decided to take a rest till 1995, when they published the album "Gabinetissimo".After it, their last album was "Subid la música".

 Yesterday, I cooked a vegetable stew, with: olive oil, onions, carrots, green beans, leeks, spinaches, vegetable stock and water.And this is the result :

I put too water in a pressure cooker.When the water was hot, I put a big onion, too chopped; after that, I put some carrots (5 or 6).Then, I leaved 4 thin leeks, 400 grams of green beans and 4 tomatoes --without skin--.I put salt and a little bit of olive oil.After 30 minutes with the pressure cooker closed, I opened it and I put the spinaches and I put everything on the kitchen, with the pressure cooker opened.The spinaches were natural ones; before they were boiled, I put a little bit of vegetable stock.After that, I let the spinaches to boil themselves.I stirred everything for several times.And, after some minutes, I moved the pressure cooker away from the fire.

  Today, I have cooked "Bacalao a la Vizcaina" = "Cod Vizcaya style".

Ingredients:   Olive oil, onions, tomatoes, red pepper, garlics, dry red pepper, salt, white wine and water.

The way to cook:  I took two big onions and I cut them so chopped and I threw it into a frying pan, with a little bit olive oil.After 2 minutes, i threw out a red pepper, also so chopped.I stirred everything for 5 minutes.After that, I threw out 5 tomatoes, without skin and without seeds.I cut them so much.Also I cut 4 cloves of garlic, so chopped. I stirred everything for 10 minutes.Then, I threw out a little bit salt and a glass of white wine.I stirred and leaved everything for a while.After some minutes, I threw out a glass of water.

After that, I threw everything into a mixer and I threw the result out into a relatively big cake tin --the best receptacle is a casserole made of clay; but I have not anyone big--.

By other side, I fried 9 pieces of cod into a frying pan, with a little bit hot olive oil.I fried them --but not too much--, with the skin looking up.After that, I put the pieces into the sauce.I threw out a little bit sauce over the pieces and I put 3 "ñoras" = "Pimientos choriceros"  = "Dry peppers", without seeds.But, I did not know that the "pimientos choriceros" had to be put in hot water for several hours and, after, to have been scrape, inside, in order to take out the seeds and put the pulp of the ·pimientos choriceros" into the sauce; but you have not to leave the "ñoras" into the sauce.

Well....this one was the result:

Bacalao a la Vizcaina.

This is a parte of the vegetable paella, that I cooked yesterday afternoon.

Ingredients: Onion, raw tomato, olive oil, red pepper, mushroom, green bean, salt and water.

I took a medium-sized fryied pan, in order too cook a big onion, with a little bit of olive oil, of course;I cut the onion very chopped.I stirred it, several times. After 2 minutes, I threw 1 red pepper out, also very chopped.I was stirreing everything for a while.After that, I threw 4 tomatoes out --after peeling the skin, with hot water--.I cut the toomatoes and I threw them out with the rest; I stirred everything.I threw a little bit thin salt out; also a glass of white wine.

I was stirreing some times again.Then, I threw everything out in an electric mixer.Then, I threw that out on a paellera --also named "Paella", like the food--.Paellera or Paella = a big frying-pan, and which is not very deep, with two handles.

Then, after 2 minutes, I threw 1 glass with rice --for 2 or 3 persons--.I threw a glass of water out and I was stirreing everything , for a while.I threw a little bit of salt.After that, I threw the mushrooms out  and, after 1 minute, stirreing, I threw the green beans.

After 25 or 30 minutes, stirreing also the apellera  --because, cooking paella on electric stove is complicated--, I moved the paellera away from the fire and I left it standing, for 5 minutes --it is very important--.

Have a good taste !.

I bought it frozen, because it is without bones --and it is a great peace, above all thinking of children--.Also it is cheap: less than 5 Euros/ Kg.And, moreover, it is delicious.

This morning, in the afternoon, I cut 2 big onions --on trips-- and 4 tomatoes --cut in 4 pieces, each one--.First of all, I put the onions over a thin coating of olive oil, in a friying pan, and past 2 minutes, I left the tomatoes --without seeds, of course--.I stirred everythig, several times and, when I saw that the skin of the tomatoes went out, I took it out of the friying pan --and I accepted my mistake: not to have taken it out before, with a knife--.Anyway, I got there in time.

Then, I threw  white wine in --a normal glass--.I follow stireing everything.I threw salt in.I stirred it again.I wait just 10 or 15 minutes, in order that alcohol evaporated itself.I put the 4 fillets of Dorada, over the onions and tomatoes,I left them, 5 or 10 minutes, over each side.After that, I threw a glass of water and I left everything, on a low heat.

Note: I forgot it: The green little things that you can see here, are parsley.

Yesterday afternoon, I cooked this food: "Tuna with onions"  ("Atún encebollado").

Ingredients: Tuna, onion, white wine, olive oil, salt, cumin.

The way of cooking:  I put all the pieces of the tuna in cold water, in order to take the blood ofthe tuna --it is very important.Do it at least for one hour, if you can--

While, I cut a lot of onions, on strips, and put them in a frying pan, with olive oil.I move everything often.I threw white wine out for a too time --in order that alcohol goes out--.

After that, I put the pieces of tuna over the onions and I threw salt, cumin --although many people though another spices, like bay leaf or pepper, out--.Agai, I moved everything, several times.

 Also, this spot is dedicated to MAGICMEG, who missed my recipes.

Yesterday afternoon, I cooked this Chickpea stew.It had: chickpeas, carrots, onions, marrows, spinaches, olive oil, water and nutritious colouring.

The way of cooking:  Two days before yesterday in the night, I leaved some chickpeas to soak, in a pressure cooker, with too water --you have to see how the chickpeas are covered--. I put the pressure cooker over a high heat.while, I was cutting the carrots, onions and marrows --everything, so chopped--.

After that, I threw salt, olive oil and colouring in. I stirred everything.I closed the pressure cooker, for one hour.Then I open it and I threw the spinaches out over the food.I finished it with the pressure cooker open, while the spinaches were reduceing themselves.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

This is a cold vegetable soup, like a thick gazpacho, and it is a typical food from Antequera (Málaga), named "Porra antequerana", "Porra" = like a "nightstick".The real "Porra Antequerana" is cooked with a lot of natural tomates, one red pepper, garlic, hard and chopped egg, olive oil, vinegar (better of apple), parma ham and bread freid.But, this picture shows you a casserole --which I ate last friday, at home-- with hard egg and bread freid, because I dont like parma ham.

In 2009, he published "Inercia" --but, luxury edition--.

 Amistades peligrosas was a group formed by Alberto Comesaña and Cristina del Valle.They met themself in a party and, some days after, they went to live together.Then, started Amistades Peligrosas, before 1993.

In 1980, she enjoy with the success of the opera-rock "Evita", succedeeing in theaters of Madrid, Barcelona, San Juan de Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, Caracas, Panamá, Santo Domingo, San José, Bogotá, Quito, Santiago de Chile y Miami.

When she finished "Evita", and after 2 years of silence, she published the album "Ahora", with famous songs like "Juntos".

In 1982, she published her famous album "Dama".

Among 1983 and 1984, she published her new album: "Paloma".

In 1985, she published the album "La fiesta terminó", where included the song "La fiesta terminó", with which she participated in Eurovision.

 This group was cretaed in Malaga, in 1981.The won the first  Prize of a Competition in Jerez; there, somebody looked at them and proposed them to publishe their first single.At the begining, their style was similar than the U2 or Simple Mind; but, after, they changed to an Latin style.

Their first album was "Contacto interior".

 Efecto Mariposa is a group created in Malaga --wereits members were born: Susana, Frasco and Raúl----.One day, they decided to go to Madrid, in order to try to start a difficult race in the world of Music.After 5 years, playing music in some little business and little concerts.But, suddenly, the music company, Universal, trusts them and they published their first album: "Efecto Mariposa" (2001).In Madrid, they knew to Alfredo Baón and he united himself to the group.In this album, they took the help, the colaboration from Juan Luis Jimenez, from "Presuntos Implicados" --another group that I like very much--.

One year ago, more or less, Ana suffered a car accident, with her husband and another friends of them, when they were from Tarifa to the Airport of Sevilla or Jerez --I do not remember--.Now Ana is recovered; but I do not know if she is preparing another album.

 Mecano was a group, formed by the brothers Jose María and Nacho Cano and Ana Torroja.It was a very famous group of spanish Pop music, among 1981 and 1992.They came back in 1998; but this period was only for 8 months.

Mecano sold, till today, 25 millions of records, all over the world.

In 1997, Ana Torroja started her own race alone, with the album "Puntos cardinales".

In 1998, Jose Maria Cano decided to leave the group, and it surprised to his own brother, Nacho, and to Ana Torroja.Jose María started to paint, as a professional painter.

 La Oreja de Van Gogh was formed by 4 boys and 1 girl (Amaia Montero), from the University of San Sebastián, in 1994.Soon, they started to be known and famous.

Their recordings is: "Dile al sol" (1998), "El viaje de Copperpot" (2000), "Lo que te conté mientras te hacias la dormida" (2003), "Guapa" (2008).

In the summer of 2007, they were preparing the fifth album, "A las cinco en el Astoria"; but Amaia Montero decided to leave the group.It was a shock for the rest of the group; but they decided continue with the album, united as some friends, like in the begining.But they need a new voice and they started to search it.After knowing many people, at least, they found to Leire and they stoped the searching.Now, the group is formed by: Leire, Pablo, Álvaro, Haritz y Xabi.

 Monica Molina Tejedor was born in Madrid in January, 24, 1968.She is the seventh, from Antonio Molina´s 8 children.(Antonio Molina was born in Malaga, in March, 9, 1928, and died in Madrid, in March, 18, 1992.He was an spanish actor and singer of copla --couplet-- and Flamenco.With a high voice and a particular style, he got a great popularity, with a lot of theatrical shows and several films, where his musical skill was his best lure.).

Monica Molina is an spanish melodic singer and also is a good actress --in fact, she started like an actress--.Her musical job is shared with her younger brother, Noel Molina,; he is the writer of the most of her songs.

As I said before, she started like an actress, following the road of her sisters (Angela and Paula.Angela has a long experience, in the movies) and --since a few years ago, her niece, Olivia Molina, is also an actress-- her brother Miguel.Monica worked, like an actress for more than 10 years.She played some little parts in two films: "La mitad del cielo" and "El viaje a ninguna parte", by Manuel Gutierrez Aragon and Fernando Fernan Gómez, in 1986.After that, she works in "Belmonte" and "Así en el cielo como en la tierra", by Julio Medem.In 1998, star in, with her sister Angela, a television comedy, "Hermanas" = "Sisters", after what Monica left this job, in order to start her musical race.

In 1999, she published her first album: "Tu despedida" and, with it, she got one Gold Disc.

In 2001, she launched "Vuela", which was a successful Platinum Disc.It was a candidate to the Latin Grammy, as a best record job of feminine interpretation and to the Spanish Music Awards, as a Sensational New Artist.

In 2007 publishe "Autorretrato".

Monica has sung the song "Nana para Candela", dedicated to her only daughter, from her relationship with the actor José Coronado.

This song belongs to the album "A vida" (2006).

 Jose Luis Perales was born in Cuenca and he is one of the most famous spanish singers who live in Spain. He wrote and sang his own songs in the 80s and 90s, above all.After that, he decided write and compose for other singers.

One of his famous songs is "Que canten los niños" = "That children sing" and I should like to show you this song, through a video, because I think that Christmas Time in a special period for children, is a time for illusion, for thinking of Peace, for beeing Family , united, well....at least, remembering to The Beatles: All you need is Love.

Yesterday, I cooked a vegetable stew, with: olive oil, onions, carrots, green beans, leeks, spinaches, vegetable stock and water.And this is the result :

I put too water in a pressure cooker.When the water was hot, I put a big onion, too chopped; after that, I put some carrots (5 or 6).Then, I leaved 4 thin leeks, 400 grams of green beans and 4 tomatoes --without skin--.I put salt and a little bit of olive oil.After 30 minutes with the pressure cooker closed, I opened it and I put the spinaches and I put everything on the kitchen, with the pressure cooker opened.The spinaches were natural ones; before they were boiled, I put a little bit of vegetable stock.After that, I let the spinaches to boil themselves.I stirred everything for several times.And, after some minutes, I moved the pressure cooker away from the fire.

A dineros pagados, brazos quebrados  = To paid up money (but in plural), broken arms

Dineros, here, is in plural, like it was used in the past, it was used by the old Spanish Language --for example in the XVII Century--.For example, in a saying which says: "Cuando te hablen de dineros y bondad, quita siempre la mitad" = "When you are talk about money (a lot of money) and goodness, always take the half".

To paid up money.........advice you not to advance the cost of a taking ( job ), because, when the money is received, the executant loose the incentive, and the work, generally, takes a long time indefinitely, sometimes.

More or less, the same thing happwns with this other spanish saying: "A cavador perucho, si le dieres algo, que no sea mucho = To a naughty tigg, if you give something to him, that it is not very much".

Perucho = pícaro, taimado, malicioso = naughty
