12 rescued Pointer x puppies - now approx 6 weeks old - need homes urgently
Monday, January 14, 2013

This is the email from the lady who has fostered these 12 pups...........

The puppies are currently in Benferri, about 30 mins past Elche, Costa Blanca.

Colleen from Paradise Kennels saw the mother (a pure Chocolate Brown Pointer) in early December, heavily pregnant but couldn't catch her. Colleen said that she had seen her as far back as last summer and she was also pregnant then so she must have been abandoned many months ago and I don't know what happened to those pups.  When Colleen told me about her I spent the next 3 weeks taking up food and water to leave for her in the general area she had been seen and on 1st January I managed to find her.  I left her her food and water and went back again the next day and spotted her again and then followed her for an hour until I heard the puppies crying in the corner of a field.

I tried and tried to get near the mother but she is so nervous no-one can catch her so I had to make a very difficult decision about taking the puppies.   Because she knew I had been to the den I was worried she would move them and then I might not be able to find them again and very shortly they would be following her onto the roads looking for food and then either be killed or cause a terrible accident so even though I felt awful for taking them from her, I didn't feel I had a choice.  They were then about 4 weeks old and it has been very difficult having a litter of 12 here without their mother to look after them and clean up after them and having to wean them so rapidly - 3 or 4 of the tiny ones would not have survived much longer as they were very malnourished and only weighed 920gr whereas the biggest one was 2kg!!

I have been treating the littlest one for malnutrition (very swollen tummy from lack of protein etc.) and I finish giving her injections tomorrow.  They were all full of worms and worm eggs and I have to treat them again on Thursday with a stronger treatment as it is proving difficult to rid them of them but then the mother must be riddled with them!  I did get tablets from my vet to put in the mum's food every day for 5 days to take away her milk and she had all of the tablets but I still have not been able to get anywhere near her - I will also put worming tablets in her food today but I am giving up hope of being able to catch her at the moment and it is costing me a fortune in fuel to keep driving over there every day to feed her and with the expense of all these puppies I am going to have to give up with the mother very soon for the time being!  The puppies will all need vacinating very shortly and there is no way I have the funds to do that so I desperately need to find homes for these puppies asap.

There are 12 puppies and they are approx. 6 weeks old now.  6 are chocolate brown like the mother.  6 are black (there is a male black & white pointer roaming around the same area so it is possible he is the father but I obviously don't know for sure who is the daddy and a couple of the black ones look a bit like labs!).  There are 9 females & 3 males.  They are all now eating just dry food (Advance Puppy!).  I did think I may lose at least 2 or 3 of the puppies in the beginning but I am sure now that they will all survive.  The smallest one weighed 920gr when I brought them home and 10 days later she was 1.65kg so as you can see, they are doing very well!  Considering they had never had any human contact they are the most adorable puppies, very loving and love to be cuddled and fussed over.  They are happy, playful babies and very active.

If you need any other info. please contact me or ring my mobile:  678 123 081  (home is 965 369 294).  e-mail me anneleswager@yahoo.com  and I will reply straight away.

I am truly desperate to rehome these puppies as I just don't know how much longer I can afford to keep them here so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Update on Mona, help requested.
Monday, January 14, 2013

On 29th December I told the story of tiny Mona, aged 12,  who was rescued from a bad situation & Angie adopted her so she would never need to worry about having a cosy bed & good food again.

READ ABOUT FOR THE LOVE OF MONA >>

Unfortunately Mona came to Angie with Mange, a bad skin condition that's highly contagious & it was passed onto Angie's other NINE rescued dogs.

Subsequently Angie was swamped with unexpected high vets fees as each dog needed vaccinating as well as Mona needing care at the vets as an inmate for a week.

This has caused extreme stress - both financially & mental - for Angie & her husband. Each dog requires three vaccinations over a period of time plus daily baths in a special wash.

PLEASE HELP ANGIE WITH HER VETS FEES WHICH ARE CURRENTLY ONGOING.

If anybody would like to make a small donation to help Angie with these vets bills, please send it to her paypal

 ....thank you

IF THEY IS A PROBLEM DONATING KINDLY COMMENT TO ALERT ME!

You can follow Mona's progress on her wall on Facebook too https://www.facebook.com/ForTheLoveOfMonaX

Lucy, Ernesto, Olly, Jonny, Bonita, Zigi & Marcia need loving homes please
Friday, January 4, 2013

Below:  Look at those big eyes!! Lovely Lucy, who is a 4 yr old, 29cm chihuahua is urgently looking for a new home. She is good natured and loving, good with dogs and humans alike. She's currently in a foster-home but needs a permanent home asap.

Below: This sweet little man is Ernesto, all of 3-4 months and 29cm (as of 30-9-12). Innoculations, passport and transportation can be arranged if necessary.

Below: Olly is 1 and a half years old (as of 03-10-12) and 46cms tall.

Below: This cute fella is Jonny. He's a 4 yr old male, who is 35-40cm tall so would be a perfect size for the average house. Poor boy has been in the Refuge for over a year so badly needs a nice home soon. He's a great lad who is very enthusiastic about his walks, loves people, other dogs and playing.

Below: Bonita is a very nice 4 - 5 year-old bitch. She is approx. 55 cms and has had very bad experiences with people. The amazing thing is that despite the evil treatment humans have doled out to her, she still likes people and and is a trusting and affectionate girl. If any dog deserves a second chance of a happy life, it's Bonita.

Below: This handsome boy is Zigi, a Lab-X born in June 2007, and 54cm tall. He's a very gentle fella who loves human company, and gets on well with dogs.

Below: This big gentle girl is Marcia, who is 2-3 yrs old and 67cms tall. She is very quiet and sweet.
