Hi Everyone,

have posted on several threads about our escapades, about lack of eating thats on 'eating out' thread and the story of the old man on bike and young boy on crossing is on the 'completion completion completion' thread.  Carol advised that we were the only two people still laughing by the end of our weeks shopping. Si and I had a ball and didn't let anything stress us out not even the old man and young boy, we now belly laugh at our good fortune and luck.  We also nearly fell asleep while testing beds, that also was a hoot, Ikea in Spain must have thought the two of us were high as we couldn't stop laughing we were like two teenagers.  The eating out or lack of it was also funny, we just didn't get the time, it was more of an inconvenience to us and I found it annoying that we had to sit down.  Monday the 13th was a bank holiday  in Spain we thought the world had come to an end, you were lucky if there was one car on the road, nobody was walking the streets, absolutely no shops open.  But Si and Iplodded on, then come 8.00pm everything started to come alive again, it was as if someone had switched a light on.

Hi Ali & Simon,

Congratulations on your completion and more to the point SHOPPING! sounds like you both had a great time. Did you manage to get your COH? and what about the snagging, were there many problems? Does this mean that you're one of the first to complete on the Penthouses?  Questions Questions................

Hi All,

Just a quick line to confirm that we completed as planned on Friday.  Got back late last night after a manic few days really, but the legal side of things was very straightforward - just a bit tedious waiting around in the Notary for 3 hours etc.  Absoloutley delighted with the finished product - only a few minor snags, with the build quality in the Penthouses basically very high.  The whole develoment is looking very impressive with plenty of labour progresssing the Foro, Golf Course, La Isla , Golf Suites ground clearance etc.  More on that later.  The view from the Penthouses over the developing course is absoloutley stunning.

We we only out there for 4 days this time including travel, so Furniture sourcing was really crazy.  Focused on sourcing the major initial items......Air Con (now installed), Lighting (fitting orgaanised), Kitchen pack,  Lounge Sofa / Chair, Beds / Bedding / Headboards.  Managed to get it all done - just in the knick of time - 1200 km's covered, Murcia moterways hammered, a poor VW Hire car that is now shagged & loads of minor arguments with Mrs Skell !!    However it's now done & dusted & hopefully our next trip will be more enjoyable after our efforts in this one........can't wait.  I will post more on our experiences in individual topics later...........it's back to the reality now of winter golf........Wet & windy weather, 07.30 tee times, wind & rain......ahhhhhh........it was 23 deg in Condado yesterday!!!!

More later

Congratulations Skell,

You didn't half get some shopping covered in that short space of time.  Did you get it from the same place or even town?  Did you have time for socialising down at the bar?

Hi Cuz,

I have just coverred where we got to on the "Penthouse Furniture" thread, but we did get about a bit.   Much time spent in San Javier, Los Alcásarez, Torre Pacheco, & Pureto Mazarron.  Also visited Cartegena Med retail park for Leroy Merlin & finally on Sat morning a quick blast to Murica looking for a spefic light fitting - which we ventually got in San Javier before driving to Los Belones for lunch (+ United Arsenal) & then back to Condado to take the light fitting back - then back to San Javier for the flight.  Some day testerday.  Used a whole tank of fuel in a day - without getting out of Murcia!!  4 long days to be honest.

Spent Wed night in Mazarron trying to find a bar to watch united v celtic.  Forgot that Real Madrid where on, so that was in most bars.  Ended getting the last 40 mins on Camposal in an Irish Bar.  Visited our bar at Condado every day for at least a livener.  €14.00 for 2 G & T's was a bit steep, but found the bar ok.  A bit like a dentist chair, but it was ok. Used the Chinese on Camposal on Fri - just too knackered to search for anything more interesting to be honest

Regards

Skell

Ah, Nick - the joys of driving, shopping, arguing etc.

It all sounds so horribly familiar - but, hey, we're here to tell the tale. It'll all be worth it. (It better be!)

Congratulations to you both,

Peter

Afternoon

Our completion that was scheduled for the 20th November has today been cancelled by PW as the COH's that WERE due on the 17th November have now (surprise, surprise) been delayed - "allegedly" we are re-scheduling to "early December" for our completion now !!

With a bit of luck (ho Ho) the Euro might have rallied a tad by then OR sunk down to 1-1 !!

Have any others completed on Penthouses yet  - I think I have seen one person on the forum who has ?

We are scheduled for 16 December but that is very inconvenient so close to Christmas so hoping to put it off to the new Year now. I seem to remember someone in the penthouses saying they had completed - must have been without COH.

Hi Alan & Mark

We completed on our penthouse in block 10 in October when we were out.  Since then I know that Barry & Sue and Nick & Deb (Skell) have also completed on the penthouse apartments, all of us without the COH's.  For us personally, we weighed everything up and decided that it was more convenient to complete rather than wait, and hope that it is just an admin delay in getting the COH as was told to us.

As said, this was just our own view based on seeing the resort and the ease of being able to get jobs like air-con and lights fitted before our next trip, and not a suggestion that everybody should go ahead and complete without the COH.

Cheers

Simon

Hi Simon,

just completed last week with the COH in Jardin 4.

Who fitted you lights & air-con? Going out in January to sort this out & check that the minor defects that we noticed on the snag has been carried out.

Regards,

Francis.

Hi Francis

Congratulations on completing, and even more so on having your Habitation Certificate.  We are still waiting.

Gary from Polarair fitted our air-con.  His e-mail address is info@polaraircostablanca.com.  The guy who fitted our lights was Steve, who was a contact given to us from our Keyholder (Carol Miller).  If you haven't arranged a Keyholder yet, then I can certainly recommend Carol.

If you want to drop me a PM then I  can provide you with both Carol's and Steve's details.

Simon

Update on Habitation Certs  - not good news if like us, you were "hoping" to get in for some furnishing over the Xmas break !

My Solicitor tells me this afternoon that ALL the Notary appointments for Penthouse completions have been cancelled by Polaris as they are not expecting to receive the Habitation certs in the month of December !

Looks like New Year and beyond for Penthouse completions then !

Rgds

Hi,

We were supposed to be completing next Wednesday but have been told by the solicitor today that the COH for the penthouses won't be issued until mid December - I guess you can add on at least another couple of weeks on to that.  We are still going out though as we have flights booked, babysitters sorted etc and we need to get our NIEs and do Power of Attorney.  We are also going to do the snagging with Trevor from Snagit Murcia so at least everything will be in place when the certificate is issued.

Jo

Hi Alison & Simon,

I've sent you a private message twice & I've had a reply twice from an Alison in Fuengirola. There must be a problem with the link. When I click on send a private message, it just says 'Send a message to Alison' which is picking up Alison in Fuengirola, but I'm sure it should read Alison & Simon.

Regards,

Francis.
