Hi there, Nice to meet you - not in the flesh yet but one day. I too have bought in apartment block 1 mine is number 13, so not far away. I am coming out on my own and so looking forward to it. I am actually moving out there this Wednesday Nov 22nd into long term rented acommodation down on the La Manga strip. Will meet up in the near future. Have just been over there this last week and it is all starting to look great if you have not been out there for a while. The show appartment looks fab and bigger that I first thought. Anyway look forward to meeting you in the future Tricia

Hi All
We have bought no 10 in Block 1.
We were expecting it to be ready on 31 Jan '07, but when our friends went over 2 weeks ago someone said that it may be March. I have e-mailed our solicitor to find out properly. What date are you all expecting.
We live in Todmorden which is in between Manchester, Leeds and Preston.
Cheers
Pauline and Peter

Hello
We've bought apartment 18 in block 1 and were told at the beginning the completion date would be March 07. However we've had no feedback whatsoever from Bravo Scotland who we bought through and no updates from the solicitor or builders. We're a bit in the dark and not sure what we should be doing now.
Have you all applied for your NI number or is your solicitor doing this for you.

Hi Pauline and Peter, I too am buying in Block 1 No 13. I was out there only last week and checked up on things and I think you should get in contact with the builders. On my contact that I signed it states completion as 31/1/07 which from what you were saying yours is the same. When I went to see the houses, I went into the office there and was told that our completion date was in March. I disagreed to this and made an appointment to go to the Taray office in San Javier and speak to them taking my contract with me. When I got there the lady also said that blocks 1 and 2 are completion date in March and Block 3 and 4 are the ones for completion in January. I disputed this and showed her my contract. Having seen that I was correct she was a bit surprised and admitted it was their error. I told her that I had already sold up in UK ( I am moving there permanently) and put my stuff in storage and was renting in Spain and told her I had worked my finances on the January completion date, she said she agreed with me that if WAS wrong and that there woukld be some compensation. All I can say is that if your contract says 31/1/7 check with them cos they may have made the same error with you. Good luck and one day we shall meet I expect. Tricia F

Hi Tricia, Sandra and Michael
I e-mailed our solicitor in Spain and he's phoned me today and said it was going to be 1 March. I wanted to have furnished it and have 2 weeks hol at Easter.
I will e-mail Taray. Our friends are buying on Rhoda Golf, theirs was supposed to be Jan and that is now going to be March.
Tricia, sounds exciting, are you going to find a job or are you retiring? Sorry to be nosey. We are hoping to get long weekends and holidays for now.
We are having a restructure at work and obviously hpe everything goes ok but if not may move sooner!
Cheers
Pauline

Hi Sandra and Michael
We went out in June to get our NI number although they said that we didn't need to and could have waited.
What we haven't done yet is sort out power of attorney for the sign over, has everyone else?

Hi All
We are wondering about whether to give our solicitor power of attorney to handle the purchase on our behalf.
We know all the benefits, in that we can open bank accounts, get NIE and complete without having to be in Spain but we are a little concerned about giving a third party such responsibility.
So, we are wondering if any of you had any experience or comments about this?
Many Thanks
Steve and Julie

Hi Pauline and Peter
Sorry not to have replied earlier, but I am now out here for good apart from going back for Christmas to family. Am renting long term down on La Manga but cant wait till mine is finished and get in there, but already feel very settled so far so good. Am really hoping to retire early and not have to work unless it is something non taxing, relaxing and only a few hours a week. I want to enjoy myself from now - it´s my time -
Yes I did a years course back in the UK, which I must say has been very useful, and when I get to San Cayetano I will then think about signing up with someone else to learn more but not till then as I am some distance away at the moment. I am having to use internet cafes at present though as I have no connection of my own and I am coming in on Wednesdays so if anyone out there wants to contact me please do and I can pick them up on the way

Hi to all our neighbours in Block 1
Are you all planning to go over in March to complete on the properties or are you giving your Solicitors POA to complete on your behalf?
We are still considering what to do about this as we feel we need to save our holidays to go over and sort out furnishing the place.
Also if anybody has any news on mortgages we too would be interested as this will be the next thing to sort out.
Tricia I think you are in the best place as the weather here is awful.

Hi there Pauline and Peter
I am actually not doing power of attourney as I have heard and it may be worth checking that it is possible that the solicitors will then carry on having poa on everything and afterwards you have to pay to stop the poa. This is only what I have heard and I am not sure if it is true. It may be worth your while finding out. I am actually coming back to the UK for Christmas later on today and am dreading the weather as seen on TV this morning. The weather is changing sñlightly here now, it is still beautiful during the day - it was 16 in Cartegena on Monday but the evenings and early mornings are cold, there seems also to be a strong wind that picks up which is cold, but you can´t have everything. I must say to all you guys out there that if you are not having any type of heating in your property, it would be worth thinking about, as the one I am renting does not have any and yes it does get cold in the evening. Anyway all paperwork is done my end in preperation of the final signings it has been reasonably easy once you know whats happening. Happy Christmas to all out there and see you when we all move in
Tricia
