Hi Julie and Steve
We hopefully complete on our quad Jan/Feb 2007. We were out a couple of weeks ago & have ordered most of our light fittings from insiderightespana.com - they are at the Balsicas turn near the Torre Alcantara Taray site & you take the turn towards Roldan from the roundabout & they are on the industrial estate on the right. They are an english company based near Stoke on Trent. Gareth Woods is the manager & is very helpful. We have decide to put ceiling fan lights in the bedrooms as we rented a property in Los Alcazares which had these & in the summer we used them more than the air con especially at night. They have quoted for fully fitted lights. We are not sure what to do in the lounge, but Gareth has told us the electrician can seal of the wires until we decide so we can just use lamps for the time being.
We are contemplating buying some furniture from Inside Right & also from a shop in La Zenia called Changing Rooms which Kevin & Sheila Stones recommended to us. They were very helpful (english as well). There is also a bed shop a couple of doors away.
We also went to Ikea in Murcia & think this will be very good for the basics like pillows, kitchen equipment, crockery etc. We bought a catalogue, but have been so busy since we got back that we haven't really properly looked at it. They also had a good selection of pictures.
We had also hoped to look in El Corte Ingles either in Murcia or Cartagena, but ran out of time.
We met some friends in Fuente Alamo on the sunday we were out there & there looked a really good shop for vases, accessories etc, but of course it was not open so we will have to go back there.
Our agents also took us to a couple of furniture stores, but we were not that impressed, it appears that unless you want a basic rental package you are probably better buying individually if you have the time. If the agents recommend somewhere they are generally making at least 10%-20% out of it.
We haven't sussed out air con yet, this seems more complicated so we will try & sort that out next time we are out there
Kind Regards Sue & David
