Hi All

As I informed some time back I intended to approach my credit card company under section 75 of the consumer credit act and claim from them for my losses due to Parador going into administration, I said at the time I would update you on my progress, for the history on this issues please read the previous posts on this thread.

I have made a claim for all my loses due to Parador going into administration and my card company are disputing the full extent of my claim but I will fight on to recover all my losses from them if possible. However, to date they have reimburse to my card account the amount I paid in membership to the Parador owners Club so that’s a good start. All I have done so far is send them a letter informing them of my rights to claim from them under section 75 of the consumer credit act.

Regards

Phil

Hi People,
Having imformed Parador that I will be coming over later this month to furnish my apartment, I asked about the voucher which I was promised and bartered for if I took out the aftercare package .  Only to find out that we will not be getting any furniture because the rest of Parador had gone into administration and we were sent an email to ask us to phone a london number to put in our claim.  Of which I think it will be a waste of time, but we will at least try to gey our money back on the credit card.
But here is part of the email that was sent to me yesterday
:
regards to your voucher, unfortunately I have to advise you that,
following a severe downturn in the demand for overseas property Parador
Properties appointed an administrator in August 2008. The gift which the
Parador salesman promised will therefore not be available to you (but see
below).
The original Parador Properties website www.paradorproperties.com
<http://www.paradorproperties.com/> for a while contained a notice which
explained the position relating to Parador’s financial position and any
payments which the company was being asked to make or may have been liable
to pay. The administrator’s notice and details are as follows:
Parador Properties Ltd., and its subsidiary Homelake Properties Ltd., went
into Administration on 8th August 2008. Customers’ contracts with Builders,
Developers or Resale Vendors are unaffected.
If you believe that you are a Creditor of Parador Properties Ltd., (this may
include offers of cash-back, furniture and kitchen appliances and other
Trade debts) please contact the Joint Administrators on telephone number 020
7002 8838 or fax details of your claim to 020 7002 8891 or write to:
Parador Properties Limited (In Administration)
C/o Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP,
5 Old Bailey
London
EC4M 7AF
I am truly sorry about the situation which has arisen but I am afraid that I
can do no more than provide you with the above information as far as the
payment of the "gift" which the Parador Properties salesman offered to you.
Parador in Spain will operate outside the Parador Properties company
structure in whatever format evolves over the next few weeks but is unable
to take on any previous Parador liabilities.
However, in an endeavour to mitigate the situation, we have discussed and
agreed a deal with Torregrosa, a furniture store adjacent to our office in
Torrevieja to whom we have introduced many hundreds of clients over the past
few years.
They are, in certain circumstances like yourselves where Parador is unable
to honour its financial commitments, prepared to offer you discounts against
purchases you make in the store. The discount will depend on the items
purchased but, in principle they will deduct 10% from furniture or furniture
pack (other than sale items).
The Torregrosa website is www.torregrosahome.com
<http://www.torregrosahome.com/> although the best way is to visit the three
floors to see their range which covers everything you might require. We will
assist when you are in Spain and meet you for your completion.
We will need to confirm the offer of discounts to the suppliers concerned so
please let me know if you wish to take up the offers.
Kind regards
Paul Roach

I have copied a post I added to a different string last week - you may already have seen it, but just in case it may be of intrerest.  I found this on the general forum of the EOS site.

Ted

don't know if this will help anyone with Parador - or if any of you have had any success in getting the promised incentives, but I saw this link on the general site and recalled some discussion on this forum.  I am not with parador, so haven't tried it, but a post on the general forum indicates that one person has had success.

Hi Ted

Yes I saw it and I had a look at the website, I may be wrong but from what I could see from reading the information on the website it look like someone trying to encourage people that have been effected by Parador going into administrating to contact this person so they can introduce them to suppliers of goods and services who will supposedly give you an extra discount due to your situation and I presume the person you would contact will also get a commission for the introduction. As I said I may be wrong but I wont be contacting them as it looks a bit misleading to me.

Hi Phil,
Also looked at it and agree with your sentiments there. Call me cynical but the 'Florence Nightingale' ex-Parador customer care officer,or whatever you want to call him, is doing no more than trying to steer you towards a specific supplier of goods who he has negotiated 'a cut' with for introducing new customers. You can get a discount that you can arrange yourself anyway by shopping around and playing off one supplier against the other. This bears no resemblence whatsoever to a compensation package to make up for what people were contractually promised. With hindsight, I'm sure we would all aproach this differently and insist that the agreed discount was paid at the time of striking the deal out of the agents healthy commission and not waiting until the final installment was paid. After all, Parador agents took their cut a long time ago and that is the time that the cash was in the kitty to pay out the promised incentives. Instead, the majority of it now sits in some ex-directors bank accounts hidden away from the administrators and they have moved on to another venture to have a second bite of the same cherry, although in this present climate I think we all know they will find commissions a little harder to come by. Fortunately, my promised cash-back deal did not amount to a very large sum (I have seen 3000 euro's quoted) and the lack of it will not have a major impact on my ability to buy the goods I need. What annoys the hell out of me is that decent hard working people have really saved and  scrimped to afford their place in the sun and made genuine sacrifices and then there are the vultures that have just creamed an easy commission for a number of years and then when it all goes t**s up, they can just slink away with their healthy little pot of gold salted away in another avenue safely out of the reach of retribution. No different to the bankers and market makers really that are raping peoples private pensions and deliberately driving down companies share values.

Rant over.

Regards,
