Hello to all our prospective new neighbours. We've bought an apartment in block 3 - and though telephone points are fitted, wonder if anyone know how easy or difficult it is to get a line installed and/or internet connections? A friend of mine livintg down in Almeria has found connections difficult to get, so any news/costs etc. would be very welcome. We're scheduled to complete at the end of January 2007, but not looking to move out there until much later in the year. Look forward to meeting up with as many of you as is possible.

Harry - Birmngham

Hi Harry

We're going out next weekend to inspect our property prior to completion so we'll try & find out what we can about telephone connections

We're renting  an apartment from a guy  who lives on Mar Menor & he also manages a lot of property including on the Taray development in Los Alcazares so he may be able to tell us. Also we have friends who live out near Totana & we phone them on their land line so am sure we will be able to find out more for you

Kind Regards Sue & David

Hi Harry

We have just arrived back from Spain.

Apparently at the moment you have to initially connect with Telefonica - the number in Spain to ring is 1004. Noone in Spain appears to know a number you can dial from the UK, however I would imagine Telefonica must have a web site. (hopefully with an english translation)

Our agents have said that as all the telephone points are in, it should be fairly straight forward, but you just need a little patience.

Once you have connected with Telefonica, if you are living out there full time & want a broadband connection, mobile phone package etc you can get better deals with companies such as Europa.

UK telephones we are told are not compatible, but not sure that anyione we spoke to has actually tried one out - they do seem really cheap to buy though.

Kind Regards David & Sue

Hi Dave & Sue

Thanks for the information on the telephone systems. Telefonica do indeed have a web site - and in english!!   www.telefonicainenglish.com       Installation with a broadband package looks to be a little over £100, including an optional phone, (one off cost)  with line rental under 1 euro per day, but basic line rental is on for under 16 euros per month!! Maybe worth getting that in first, then shopping around for the best broadband package at some later date.

Thanks again.

Kind regards  Harry
