Hi All,
I just thought with all the residents in Blocks 10 & 11 getting all chummy, if there is anybody out there who have bought in Block 9? If so when are you due for completion. We have P935 (Top floor), have 2 daughters (19 &15) & and a son aged 11.
We are due to complete on Nov 7th & will both come out for that to start on funiture, Ligting & Air con sourcing etc. My wife is out in La Manga for week at the end of September (with her Mum) & will pop to the site for a 'look see' & to undertake a list of tasks I have set her!!
Currently trying to negotiate with PW on position of the AC Condenser units at the moment - They want to put on the terrace, I want on the roof or in the Washing machine cupboard......interested if there any other options being considered by Penthouse owners
We are keen to hear from any of our new neighbours, so if there are any "Block niners" out there please join the forum

We are up in block 16 so not an immediate neighbour but close enough !
I would be interested to hear the update on Aircon from PW - the show flat pictures showed NO aircon outside units on the terrace - I assumed they must be up on the roof, I was talking to Gary at Polarair about doing an install but he did not know where the units were either - as the Penthouses have yet to complete (we are doing so end OCt) I guess no one has yet broached this set up with any 3rd party contractors ?
We will be over at Condado in a few weeks so will update then, I certainly I dont want to sit on an outside terrace and be barbecued by the hot air from the condensor units if they can go on the roof !!

Hi both,
Could the units not go out on the back terrace by the doors into the apartment ? I wouldn't think PW would want them on the main terrace and visible from the golf course...

Hi Kev / Snorky,
I am not sure about the front door option. It is only an entrance vestibual off a shared access corridoor really. The Units are quite big units, so they will not want them sticking out into the corridoor I think. Below is their official communication on the matter so far.
"Regarding your question about the air condition they have made a special place for you to connect the machine.
It is not above the waching machine, since there are some people who like to put the drying machine there, but it is on the terrace".
I am not sure if PW's use & meaning of the word "special" will be the same as mine......!! I also noted that the Pics of the terrace posted on polarisart did not show any condensors on the patio - but not sure if they were connnected up?
Personally I think we should Lobby PW for the roof option. It's a massive space up there clear access exists from the stairwell to enbale the lifts & roof to be serviced. PW did not want public access, but once these things have been installed, it's hardly going to need daily access - more like once per year for each fan set to be serviced. To be honest though Kev, with ground floor planting they will not be visable from the course & with the upper floors the patio walls will obscure any course view. I agree with Snorky though - these things can be quite noisey as well as hot - so we really don't want them on the Patio
Regards
Nick

Nick,
Good points. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I almost think I'd rather go without Air Con than have the units on the terrace. Can you confirm - are you in block 9 or 11 (or both !) ?

Kev,
No I wish....... just Block 9 Kev - Top floor (935) ........funding only stretches so far in these difficult times!!
I am also using Gary from Polarair & have asked him to check out suitable sites & options (if we have any) when he is next on site in a Penthouse.
Keep in touch on the matter anyway - I am sure we'll get a result somehow

Hi Kevin & Elaine,
I'm with you on this one, would rather do without than have generator type noise and hot air blowing out while relaxing/sunbathing. Would rather have them in the back corridor but this could be dangerous, maybe we could fit them into some sort of housing unit, painted white to disguise and blend in with the building.

I understand your comments Alison......but inland Murcia in Aug.....40 deg in the shade!!.......We will all need the AC for sure, we just need to apply pressure to PW to put the condensers on the roof - where they should be!! I agree that housing the units in white boxes can help - just need to make sure they get the correct circulation to the fans etc

Hi eveyone
regarding the placement of the air con units it will largely depend on where the pre - installed pipe work is located (in are sales doucuments it states pre installed air con ) which I think you will find were ever this pre installed pipe work runs to will determine the location of the units outside Saying that there is usally a blanking plate which you remove to access the the said pipe work to install the aircon units and looking on photos posted can not see one on the terrace areas unless they hidden under the new paint work
stay cool

Hi Nick,
We also have a top floor penthouse and reading this thread i've Just had a thought, If everyones air con units go on the roof will it not be noisy when your'e sunbathing/relaxing on the terrace? If each apartment has 3 units then does this mean that there will be twelve units on the roof?
Any thoughts anyone????

Hi all,
I also have a top floor penthouse (block 1) and am following this debate with interest. I agree that I would not like my unit to have to be placed on my terrace. But then neither do I fancy everyone else's units above me on the roof. I dunno, pay the extra money...............

Hi All,
Regarding noise - it is a good point, but I personally don't think that noise from the roof would disturb us below.......They are a bit noisey if you are sat next to them (like on the Patio), but I think on the roof would be ok. The noise has a much greater area to dispurse & of course the heat would just rise!! All getting a bit technical now!! The roof discussion is probably imaterial as I doubt if PW will be moved on the roof location to be honest. Finding the best alternative (Front, Washing Machine cupboard, Best position on the terrace, etc) may be more productive?

I'm no expert but surely the preinstalled aircon must be routed to come out somewhere? Whether it is on the roof, terrace or washer cupboard. (Doesn't look like there is room in there with the washer and boiler).
I Definitely don't want either noise or visible pollution on my terrace and will explore every avenue to avoid looking or listening to the aircon outlet/s.
I would have put them on the roof terrace but with 32 per block this would be a noisy eyesore for what should be a relaxing solarium.
Surely PW can answer this question?

Barney,
You must have your wires crossed I think. The roof terrace is out of bounds for us owners. There is no owner access up there - only service access. That is why I suggested it!!
Solarium....nice thought though

Not much point of having all that space up there with no one on it. I think you will find that access is allowed to all apartments - otherwise why call them penthouses? This was crucial to my purchase of a ground floor penthouse and I have had it confirmed by PW - what a waste of a view!

Skell,
I'm with Barry on this one. We were told by PW that the roof solarium was for the use of everyone in the block, and if you could be bothered to drag a sunbed up there you were welcome to.
Ideally we don't want the air con units on the terrace especially if we are going for the 3 internal 3 external option, so on the roof terrace would be our choice, but as has been said, I suppose it depends on where the wiring allows them to be placed.
Need to ask Gary from polarair his views I think.
Cheers
Simon

Hi All,
When we bought our penthouse apartment we were told that the roof terrace was not for public use. It seems that everyone has been told different stories !!

Hi Barry,
I dont know why they call them Penthouses because my understanding of a penthouse is ' an apartment built on the roof or the top floor of a building' . It seems that the peeps who have bought top floor have been told that the roof terrace is out of bounds and the peeps that have bought on other floors have been told that its communal. Is it a selling tactic? I dunno, but would like it
clarifying !! pw dont answer emails and when i've phoned they just pass messages on and say someone will call you back. Guess it will just have to be a surprise when we complete.
