Wifi in Manilva

I can say that, whilst there, we were unable to pick up a signal at all.  We have had broadband installed now with Telefonica, but will be based in DV soon, so it paid for us to have this installed.

I didn't contact Brian, so am not sure how he works the "weekly" rate, but do know that we rarely picked up any signal other than our own wifi.

you could get yours for free if you charge weekly users to use your connection!!

Good idea, John!!  But unfortunately, the signal hardly stretches outside the apartment!!  I thought I'd take the laptop to the pool - and we're right next to the pool - but couldn't get my signal once I was outside the entrance!!  Don't think there's any chance of anyone piggy-backing on our account, even if they had the password!!  Saying that, I recall being at Beccys and couldn't get Ed's signal either on my phone, after having a drink there beforehand and accessing their wifi.  Obviously not very far ranging connections!

Hi whitby. Seems to me you have a Router, rather than a Server, problem.

Actually I don't have a problem - the wifi connection in the apartment is great.  I'm getting at least 5MB download speeds (when I've tested) and don't have any complaints.  I was just talking about taking the laptop outside of the apartment - which wasn't really necessary, I just wondered if it was possible.

Hi Pitby, sorry to have got your name wrong. Surely it must be a Router issue. I am in my back garden typing this message and am approx. 25 feet away from the Router which is inside?

I don't have a problem when I'm outside on the terrace and even up to the entrance to the block - which is probably a good 25 feet if not more.  It's when I step out of the entrance and nearer to the pool gate that the signal goes really.  Saying that I can pick up my signal no problem at quite a distance from my router here in Dubai, so maybe I do have a problem.

I wasn't able to get into the router configuration before returning to Dubai (tried typing in the IP address but nothing!!) so will have to attempt to read the instructions when I'm back in September!  I'll then have a look and see what sort of coverage I should be getting.

I wouldn't have the one Brian gives, I was on Steve's and it took forever to just pick up my emails, I gave in at the finish it was that slow I was in Steve's for nearly an hour and just gave up as a bad job, it would have been quicker to take it down to Cbar and sit and have a coffee and pick the signal up there.

Hi Maureen...hasn't Will got the service from Brian ...what does he think of it?  I think the best solution was the one Will and I tried to progress but we came unstuck when it was obviuos the infrastructure needed to be funded.

I notice it is a long time since anybody responded on this thread but has anybody got an update on community wifi we are also in the Duquesa/Manilva area and our community are looking to install wifi for our owners?
