You can get pay as you go Jan and they are popular here but my understanding is the international ones you'd need for Spain (if buying in UK or elsewhere) are expensive to use.  Neale's company pay for his but he thinks it works out costly.

No, I meant that I'd look into buying a Spanish one.  I believe there is one that you can buy and the credit is valid for ninety days or something (ie if you don't use it up in that time it's gone).  I'll have to check into it properly.  If it's not feasible, I'll just be breakfasting at Monte Duquesa!

I think best way to get internet is with a simyo sin card -tarifa plana- 25 eur month 5 gigas.in Dv they have hdspa high speed acces at 3.6 mbs, you only need a usb dongle,a simyo intenet sim and contract the service, monthly payments                                https://www.simyo.es/simyo/portal/store/select-data-priceplan

The point it, for me, Luis that we're only there during the summer - so we don't want to take out a monthly contract.  What we want is a pay as you go / pre-paid, really.  Would you know anything about that?

Thanks,

A Spanish one sounds good.  Might get one myself if it's not too expensive Jan.  I will miss wifi when I'm there a whole month and don't really want to have to sit near Ed's or the Clubhouse whenever I want to use it.

Getting nearer to July and us being there - sooo excited! - and just wondered if any further feedback on wireless connection in the area?  I don't mind paying, so long as I can get a connection in DV - I know I can get free wifi down the hill, but it would be so much more convenient just to be able to connect in the apartment.  Also, anyone installed broadband in their apartment at a reasonable monthly cost?  Not interested in telephone line, just adsl.

Hi Pitby, from your cousins at Coto Real

We have own wifi here (I'm sitting in our apartment as i post this) and it's such a fantstic facility to have.

Contact brian@freewifispain.com  www.freewifspain.com and he will do a site visit for you.

Costs will be between €150 to €200 for a hard wired installation - we went for an internal wifi router which was an extra €100 but well worth it. That means you can run several laptops, internet radios, PDA's all at the same time. As if....

Brian can also supply VOIP's and internal cameras.

well, maybe I'll be able to do the same, John.  Anyone out there with a wireless network that I can "piggyback" on to?  I'll gladly contribute towards the bill for the 6-7 weeks that I'm out.  I only really want to check email and the like.  If anyone, near enough to bloque 10, can help would be much appreciated!

PM me if you can help.

Thanks,

Edited to say:  Thanks, Will (sorry didn't say it sooner!).  Am going to check with Brian - am particularly interested in paying just weekly, but don't know if he can offer this service.

Hi Jan

Yes, Brian has quoted me €10 per week for wifi access (on top of installation costs)

I'm seeing him tomorrow

Will

Hi John

To be honest, I can't remember but I'm pretty sure DV will get a signal.

Would definitely be interested in connecting on the weekly rate whilst we're there!  Will give you a ring, Brian, just before we leave for Duquesa.

Hi.  We are in Duquesa at the moment and would be interested in hearing if this service works here and how it operates.  Currently we have broadband service through Telefonica which is very expensive as we are also having to pay for a telephone line and service when we are not in Duquesa.

Thanks

Peter
