I've heard through the grapevine and the jungle drums that our security system may be fitted next week -anyone got any info on this?  I presume access will be needed to our apartments for the necessary work to be carried out and I'd have thought we'd have been contacted about this in advance.  Also, does anyone know how we'll get in ourselves in the meantime?  Arriving in the early hours of the morning is not a good time to have to yell outside for someone to let us in!  LOL

Hope you're all enjoying your tripe and onions or whatever else we're expected to live on through the credit crunch in order to save our pennies for Spain!  Keep swimming everyone!

We were at Mirador last week and were told work was to begin on Monday to give all upstairs apartments and downstairs apartments which don't have a gateway to the street entryphone systems but to give all other downstairs apartments bells at their street gate. Don't quote me anyone, as it may be a case of chinese whispers and I could be mistaken. The other thing is that apparently the work has been expected to start before now so Monday could have come and gone without any change!

Hello All,

just to add to earlier updates, my mother in law and her hubbie are out at ours for this week and there has been some messing about with cables at the foot of our stairs and around the pool area. So there must be some movement on the intercom/bell front.  Watch this space.

The mother in law is back on Sunday so we might find out more then.

Regards,

James & Jo.

Hi, James and Jo,

I think that "Mirador and the Lost Search for the Intercom System" has definite  Hollywood potential.    Thanks for updates.
It is absolutely, totally freezing here!!!

Good question jeycon. Could the real "Smartass" step forward and identify themselves now please. Stuart.

Now I am back in the land of living after weeks of poorly kids, poorly me, sisters wedding etc. etc. just to say I've emailed the builder to ask what works are being carried out exactly - will let you know what they say!

Have started the countdown for when we are out there next - roll on 27th Dec!!!

Hi all - Louise has emailed me to say that she's having problems with EOS website - funnily enough, I've struggled to get to this stage too, so maybe there's a general technical problem around.

Anyway, she's had an update re security system as follows and has asked me to post it for her.

"Dear Louise : the only work to do is to fix the intercom inside the property, besides the main door, to open the gate when somebody ring at your home from outside. Nothing more...The foreman thinks to finish this week with everything.   Regards   Silvia"

That sounds good.  I was afraid that we'd just get someone ringing from the gate and we'd have to run to let them in.  If that can be done from inside the apartment, it will be much better.

Don't know if they will access our properties in our absence though, does anyone know?

Hope you're all well.

Hi Everyone,

I have recently returned from Mirador ...spending a week with my son and his family.

While we were there the workers were installing the wiring for the security intercom system. It involved work at the electric boxes. which are located  along the walls at the bottom of the  stairs to the upper  apts. And they also need to come inside the apts.  to install the wiring into the inside walls for the phone.

It was our last day...and we were on our way out... when they came to our neighbours and said we would be next. It is necessary for them to get into the plates bolted onto the walls in various  places in the lounge area..to feed the wires in. So moving the furniture..and some pictures off the wall was required..

We did this for them in our case..as we were there. And left them to carry on working while we were out.  A few hours later....we returned and it was complete and the apt  in order. No mess at all..

only A small cluster of wires is left by the front door next to the alarm box. This will have a phone attached. And buttons I presume to push to speak... When someone at the gate wants to enter.   Aside from that. I could gather no further details..as to a new gate being fitted and what sort.  If you still needed to walk down and open it..or if a release button would be fitted..and guests could make their own way to you. this will all take time to sort.

Mirador is looking more and more a proper community as time goes by. The autumn light gave a glow..and the landscaped borders of shrubs have taken well and really grown. The mountains beautiful as ever. It was quite chilly our week....but the sun did show its' face a few times.

I Hope everyone is well..and looking forward to the holiday season. I can't believe it is one year since I first joined EOS..and so many kind people helped me learn about Mirador. I hope this next year sees us all enjoying our lives there.

Best Wishes to Everyone...Carol & Danny
