Hi all

I have just received a document from my solicitor about all the finances i need for completion, there are two items on it that look over the top

1 (.....cost for two wills at €464.00 which does not include the notary fees

2 (......there is a charge of €294.43 for title insurance, a one off payment that lasts for 20 years in case of someone disputing that you own the property

I know that the wills are needed but they just seem a little on the expensive side and as for the title insurance that just appears to be a con,

my sloicitors have been top class until now so maybe i am reading to much into this and this is what everyone is paying,

any help would be appreciated..............................regards............mark

Hi,

Wills cost around 200 euros each, normally a little over. We were also offered the title deeds insurace but when we asked for input on this forum no-one else even knew about it ! As a result we haven't taken it out so I'd consider dropping that.

don`t know , didn` bother getting  a soliciter and im really glad now , could of spent 8000 over the top and as this place is becomming a right money spopnge seems i made the right desicion. Pw have paid foor all my legals apart from 100 e for power of attorney, may seem like i took a risk but being pw seemed reasonably sensible. Ask the questions of nesassity and dont feel you obliged they sound like thy`re taking the p`````s.

Hi Mark,

Are your solicitors from Los Alcazares by any chance, they were great for us. Sounds like the same as we paid exactly 464 euro's for our 2 wills and were offered the one off title insurance you talk about, which we didn't bother with.

Hi Chris

yes it seems that they could be the same ones, as i have said before i cannot fault their service at all, they have kept me up to date with things almost every week,

i just felt that they are now trying to sell me stuff which i do not need

Hi Mark,

I think you're right, when we went over to complete the wills they took 15 minutes explaining the title insurance to us, no hard sell though just told us to have a look at it when we got home. Decided there and then really that we weren't going to bother with it and haven't looked at it since. Just another way of getting a few more euro's off us.

                                                 Chris.

Don't think mine is taking the you know what but he's just written to me, telling me that the Notaries "need now to be provided with the bank account number from which you made the payments to Polaris World"; that this is now a legal requirement and is needed to allow completion to be finalised.

I paid the initial payments from my UK account and the final balance was paid via Smart Currency Exchange.

I'm baffled by the need for this (not to say reluctant to provide such details by email).

Anyone in the same boat or heard of anything similar?

Peter

thanks folks - I appreciate the response.

I'm not happy to email the details but i suppose in the interests of getting completed, I'll ring them up with the details,

Hi Everyone,

This must be something new as when we completed on 3rd November 2008, none of this info was required or requested, so I would ask why this info is necessary and when this stipulation changed.

Kind Regards

Kelly

Thanks Kelly - it's apparently a law change - as of last Wednesday.

I have no difficulty in that but it seems strange that PW's agents want these details - when PW must have them already - from the payments made to them!

Bizarre......
