I don't know if this is a sensible suggestion in any way but would anyone be interested in meeting up in person in the UK? I have had a great response from people interested in forming an owners group. I've passed on lots of details regarding my new lawyer and the recent report of my meeting.
I know everyone has busy lives but I think this would be hugely beneficial to us all. Sorry I know not everyone is UK based but with Christmas arriving and hopefully holiday time approaching is it sensible to suggest a group meeting?
I'd appreciate everyones thoughts. I would be happy to co-ordinate the meeting and to keep details private.
Again everyone could e-mail me via my other e-mail address corveraownersgroup.live.co.uk.
It would be useful if you're interested for you to state the village/town/city/county? that you live in and I could then take the most central point to suggest a meeting location?
If you haven't proved you are an owner already I'd just ask for proof of ownership as one owner has already suggested you could delete any sensitive information from any documents. I'd just like any proof that you are an owner so this information is kept strictly private.
Anyone interested in a personal group meeting please contact me on the following e-mail address: corveraownersgroup.live.co.uk.
If enough interest is shown I will invite the lawyer to attend to answer an open legal question section.
I think this could be arranged for Dec/Jan?
Your thoughts please. Best Wishes Lisa

Hi everyone! A quick update for you. I'm now in touch with 30 owners so we can speak privately. I'd like to clarify I think getting together as a group can only be a positive thing. This is not purely from a legal point of view but before you know it next April/May will be here when phase 1 is due for completion and then if there are real concerns or even if we just want to act as a group to purchase items in bulk the owners group can only be a very positive thing. The more of us the better. To have a face to face meeting also will only help us all. Lets start moving on this. Anyone with any interest at all please mail me with proof of ownership to corveraownersforum@live.co.uk. I now know the geographical locations of owners coming through so am getting closer to working out where the most central point for a meeting might be. Best Wishes Lisa

Interesting little secret society developing on this forum. I am an owner but do not wish to send documents (basically the solicitor has them) therefore I guess I am not included in the self nominated "Owners Club". If information has been obtained surely it should be shared on the forum. Do those "owners" wish to start there own forum, but please don't look at this one when you do.
Next time I visit the site and get information and photos why should I post on the site? do I ask for people to PM me so I can then send them, basically filtering who sees the photos and information.
To me people join a forum to share information evenly.
Undoubtedly Lisa has put in much work and I do support her in an effort to set up an owners club and would very much welcome a meeting ahead of April/May time when we can all be sharing a drink on various balconies. If Lisa wants to PM me I will happily supply her with my apartment number and nearest town. Trust is a two way street.

Lisa,
Thank you for your efforts in the Owners Club project. About the legal point of view, the lawyer we are using, Pedro Orgaz from Martinez Echevarria, has been very helpful since the start of the procedure. He has also proved to us that he is independent starting several court cases against Calidona. As I am happy with my lawyer, can I join the club without changing to the one you offer? I do not think this would be necessary.
Thanks
Peter Davies

Peter of course you can join the group. I'm honestly not pursuing a purely legal course in investigating the options. Everyone is totally free to have representation with whoever they choose. It's much simpler to pass on information as a group whether that's legal, purchases, social etc etc and I know your solicitor is very reputable. Hope I've clarified everything. Best Wishes Lisa

icspain - with respect, I think any of us who may have spent considerable effort and expense in obtaining legal advice would be very ill-advised to publicise that advice on a forum which is undoubtedly read by developers and agents as well as purchasers. It's not about secret societies - it's about owners working together.

Just to add to Difi's message, my understanding of the Owners Group (from the initial message on the 'Legal Position Update' thread), was that it was intended to supplement the Forum, by helping to address concerns voiced by a number of Forum members in a way that could not be achieved within the Forum itself. I would also imagine that the sensitivity of some of the responses to these concerns, if published in full here, could be classed as defamatory and therefore cause issues for EOS (which I believe has been the case on other 'Eye on....' sites)
Personally, I don't see a problem with it; Lisa could have just PM'd a number of individuals from the Forum who have voiced similar issues, shared the cost of advice with them and had a much quieter life! As it is, she openly shared the idea with the Forum giving people the choice. I also imagine that Lisa and those choosing to join the group will continue to provide the same useful information on this Forum that they always have, so nobody looses.
That's my view anyway, for what it's worth :)

I too, would like to thank Lisa for making the effort!
it is too easy to think about doing something, life always gets in the way of finishing the idea.
I think that it is a bit rich for people to criticise Lisa for her actions. Any way, if you think that you will be sharing a drink in April/May in Corvera, you had better be wearing a hard hat, hi vis jacket and work boots!
Just to note, I visited my lawyer, in Spain, tonight. He has told me that there are legal precedents that would enable people to petition for lower prices if the advertised facilities are not provided.

Hello everyone. First time using this forum. I purchased 6 units off-plan in august 05, phase I. I want to pull out of all 6 contracts now and visited a lawyer yesterday here in Ireland to see what case I have. He will pass my contracts etc to a lawyer in spain and should hear back in a week. Is the objective of the people on this forum to pull out of your contracts, or is there another objective? I am happy to share my lawyer's briefing once I hear back but it must be to a private entity. I would be happy to meet up to discuss further.
Very importantly, has anyone any information on the financial status of Calidona? Are they in a financial position to complete the project I wonder?

Hello nton
There is no specific objective of this forum, other than to share views and information. However, there are some members who have concerns, not necessarily about Calidona, but just about protecting their legal rights in general relating to their investment and the progress of the development, and the group is a suggestion of an easier way of addressing this on a group basis rather than as individuals, and that's what this particular thread relates to. The invitation to join is open, and if you are interested, then also read the 'Legal Position Update' thread for more detail.
The best thing I can suggest is that you also find some time if possible to read through some of the other threads, as there's a lot of useful information there if you are new to the forum - including some feedback from members that Calidona are considered to be one of the safest, most viable developers in Spain at the moment.
Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Absolutely nobody wishes to place Calidona in a more difficult position than it is already in with the current financial meltdown. However we must remember that the majority of us are also in a similiar(albeit smaller) position ourselves. This difficult position is compounded by the thorny question of when or if allof the supposed facilities are to be provided. To obtain the best chance of obtaining a serious and well thought out answer to this problem from Calidona i feel it is imperative to have strength in numbers and will certainly be joining the Corvera Owners Group forthwith.
Regarding changing solicitors i will give this some thought, but in the meantime would be more than happy to pay my share towards any legal costs incurred.
Like the idea of a group meeting here in the UK. Newcastle is a very happening place!

Just as an update I am now in touch with 50 owners who are interested in joining as an owners group. The e-mail I gave is so that anyone wishing to discuss a private issue can do so freely. I am happy to then co-ordinate any information which may be useful as a whole to the group.
Please e-mail me at corveraownersforum.live.co.uk.
I would just need to see any proof that you are an owner. Lots of e-mails have to come through to me with information that can be shared saving time, effort and money for everyone. For instance we already may have some answers you are currently looking for. I've heard from owners at Roda aswell as Corvera who have invaluable advice and they are in some cases a few steps ahead of me.
The legal position update is one part of my research I've said it before but maybe I should say it again for anyone new my objective is not purely legal. I'm trying to find out where I stand on all levels so I can make informed choices as I go along the process.
I think already some people have felt better just knowing they're not alone. Hopefully what I'm doing is helping. I think meeting if possible again will be hugely beneficial. A few hours sharing experience, information etc surely can only be a good thing. Best Wishes Lisa

Hello Lisa,
I have just sent you a private e-mail about the forum on Corvera, can I just say I think it is an excellent idea, and I am trying to get this going on another development that really is in trouble and we would be in a better
position collectively if we knew where the developers were coming from and everyone was getting the same feed back which they are not. Experience and knowledge is power and can only benefit all of us if this is
shared!
I am a little confused though - should I be worried about the Corvera Development? I am on Phase 3 and have asked them about receiving another Bank Guarantee for the first quarter of next year as mine is due to run about and they said this would not be a problem.
Thanks again and I look foward to meeting up soon - I will need a little notice as I come from Sevenoaks!
Louise
