Hi Lisa and all fellow Corverans this is my first message as I have only recently discovered this Forum. I purchased through MRI in 2005 and also use Pedro as our solicitor, Corvera was a good choice the other two was not so good. I certainly would be up for a meeting as I feel very much in the dark on my legal stance when I wont be in a position to get a mortgage to cover the purchases I made. I am on phase 1 and they say it should be ready April/May time? I suppose I will have to arrange the NIE number can I do it from the UK?

Hi John
Welcome to the forum. I haven't got my NIE number yet either, there is a NIE thread on the forum that might be useful. I believe that you need to go to the Spanish consulate ( not embassy) in London ( details can be found at www.maec.es/subwebs/Consulados/Londres/en/home/Paginas/home_cglondres.aspx ) if you do not want to go through the process in Spain. Each person on the deeds I believe will need two typed NIE application forms, put your passport numbers on the top of the forms, bring your passport and two photocopies of the passports main page( it probably would not hurt to bring additional ID). If anyone could let me know if what I have said is incomplete or inaccurate I would appreciate the feedback.

Sent you three PM's each with no response, as one of those stated I have got info from solicitor and am forwarding the required information. In the last PM I have explained after PM's with other members why items need to be kept behind closed doors. Please respond and keep me and the rest of the forum updated.

Hello everyone,
Just as an aside here out of general interest, I have often observed that there appears to be a little fragmentation on our forum in that UNLESS each of us goes to the basic Corvera Golf and Country Club theme/thread, where, so far as I can make out, ALL of the threads are listed, we can miss out on many inputs, especially if we only open up on the thread which has alerted us to an incoming message.
I can accept that maybe I am not as smart as the average bear but I always start off there and particularly if I want to remind myself of something, I can usually find the original reference to that message/thread in that listing................ however, as I say, I do that before ALSO looking at the latest other inputs which will appear (more than likely) under a different thread name each time, but I DO make sure that I always refer to the main Corvera title regularly.
I see that today, there is a new friend wishing to join the group and who states that he was not aware of the forum at all and maybe he/she is not aware of all the other threads/discussion points to be viewed as well. I respectfully suggest that such a review of ALL the threads might be a good idea as many FAQ's can be answered straight away.
Someone wrote in recently, to chat about rental options on 1/12/08 and I sent in what I thought might be a helpful insight about the airport, based upon my own aviation career/background but there has not been a single comment on the subject since.............. Please do not think that I value my own importance enough to warrant a reply of any sort but I just wonder if my fears about folks missing items because they only get involved with one live thread, are warranted?
Oh heck, I guess it's just me and computers but I mean well and am trying to do my bit for the group, so please check ALL threads regularly and I'll be able to sleep at night.... some hope!
All the best, FIZZLER/John.

Maybe the first line of your post might have alienated any Corvera Owners who are manual workers and could be the reason no one has responded.
Just a thought
Dave
Yes, I've long held the view that the airport construction programme and the many PROFESSIONAL (not hole diggers!) people there, are our best bet but as someone responded some time back,

Hello Dave,
Thanks for your thoughts and you MAY have a sound point to make, thank you, but I would be surprised if folks took umbrage at their being referred to as "hole diggers" if that's what they are, as it's maybe a lot better than calling them "Navvies", which I purposely avoided. They must lead sheltered lives if they are THAT sensitive.
In any event, there have always been and always will be groups of folks who are referred to by ourselves, governments or agencies as "Manual Workers" or "Professional Workers". In any event, I wonder how many "Soil Realignment Operatives" have purchased at Corvera? Welcome to you all !!
It's getting so that, in these days of Political Correctness, some of us are becoming scared to use plain language, even in all innocence and with absolutely no intention of offending anyone, and to offend anyone, especially those of great sensitivity, no matter what their calling, was certainly not my intention.
Thanks Dave, now perhaps we can move on, as the content of my original message was intended to feed back a little of my useful background experience for the common good and to suggest constructive possibilities and hope for ALL concerned, and not to divert our already strained energies and resources into the further pursuit of P.C. witch-hunts.
I am chastised and shall be forever racked with regret, however.....................".Per Ardua Ad Astra" !
Thanks, John/Fizzler

I can't speak for other users, but when I log in, all the threads are in date sequence, so I automatically know when a thread has been updated.

Thanks Frank!
I guess it's just me then, although I do check both the main Corvera option and any ohers which are shown as latest inputs. Just me losing my marbles!
Cheers, John/Fizzler.

I thought I'd just poke my nose in here and swerve this thread back to what it was... owners meeting ideas.
As an update I've heard from 67 owners so far and just wanted to say if anyone else is interested in joining the owners group please message me at corveraownersforum@live.co.uk
The idea is to exchange owners information in total privacy. If you'd like to be updated please e-mail me at that address and if you haven't mailed before please send proof of ownership with any sensitive information (passport numbers etc) blanked out.
Please send something like the first page of your contract.... anything that proves you are a Corvera owner.
I'm in the process of hearing back from owners regarding potential dates when we can all meet up to swap ideas and information and all to potentially meet up in person with our neighbours.
If we get to know each other personally at this stage it could benefit us all, even down to sharing cabs from airports!
Get in touch if you're interested.
Best Wishes
Lisa

Thanks for all your work Lisa.
Some of us have received an email from Lisa's recommended lawyer that is extremely helpful. I for one am seriously considering changing to his firm. The greater the number of people working together, the easier it will be for all concerned. There is always strength in numbers. I urge everyone to try to attend the meeting being organised. This solicitor has also offered to be present (at his own expense) to answer any questions and advise members of due process.
The service I have received from the MRI recommended solicitor has been simply atrocious. I do not think that this service will get any better if things start going wrong. I am sure others are in the same boat. Are people willing to maintain this status quo and be taken for a ride as the development nears completion? I for one am not.
Regards.
Ash

Just a note for those forum members that think a group will have no consequence on the approach from Calidona (should things go awry). 60 group owners so far from whom Calidona are expecting around 200'000 euro average,
60 X 200'000 + 12'000'000 euro. It may just catch their attention.

Just to say Ash I completely agree with what you have just said (as I suspect many on the forum would) and I am also certainly thinking of changing to Lisa's lawyer. And thanks again to Lisa, I would imagine organising the group and the meeting etc is time consuming, much appreciated !
Also well said Steve and remember its 60 and counting!

Just to add our thanks to Lisa.....
We remain positive about the development, but we are not blind to the facts either, and anything that helps us all stay focussed is very welcome.

Hello everyone,
Yes, a very pertinent point about staying focused, mazbaz, plus all constructive inputs from other contributors, thank you.
I have received and read the newsletters from Lisa's solicitor and the difference between him and our existing lady solicitor (abogada) is like chalk and cheese.
I have already written to ask him to take over our entire legal and fiscal representation in Spain and I just await his further instructions.
Poor Lisa must be "run ragged" with all this extra work and even though we oft times repeat our thanks on forum or in private messages, we thank you wholeheartedly again Lisa. The spreadsheet is a great idea, thank you.
For folks in our particular situation (meaning my wife and I), we need all the reliable help, experience and advice that we can muster.
Just as a polite reminder if I might be allowed: When we discuss our plans on open forum, don't forget that it is monitored by others and so anything too definitive or of significant tactical/logistical importance, should perhaps be sent to members as an input via Lisa's e-mail address for her to pass on to us as confidential feedback?.... or as a private message to other like-minded group members for consideration.
Holding a couple of aces?...... let Lisa know, not the chap on the other side of the table!
Thanks again everyone, with kind regards,
John/Fizzler

Hi all,
I am so relieved to have found you all. I just found out the estate agent Viva who sold us this property have gone into liquidation and my lawyer left and I have sought them out in the southern spain office now. I'd be interested in a meeting with other fellow property owners to be and have sent you a private email which I look forward to connecting with you on. I'm phase 2, having purchased 2 and a half years ago and am told I cannot invoke any guarantees until 2010! i was told there could be no delays becuase of the clauses, only to found out that the lawyer failed to tell me that the clause was subject to a building licence/ permit being issued and that it wasn't signed so any delay was infinite until this happened..was this the experience of others. somneone suggested i use the lawyer for negligence, sounds a bit difficult to me. Bottom line is we'd like to be at Corvera, but its late and we've paid too much and I am worried about the developer not completing for all the reasons in this forum!

Karen. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else. A lot of owners are making the effort to attend and I think we'll all feel a bit better when we make proper contact with one another.
Just to say again if there are any owners out there feeling a bit cut off or feel like you're alone with questions you'd like answers to come and join us......if you want to network at our personal meeting with almost 70 owners atending please get in contact with me asap.
We're meeting soon after Christmas. Please e-mail me with proof of ownership to corveraownersforum@live.co.uk Proof of ownership could be Calidona loyalty card letter/first page of your contract etc. Anything sensitive i.e passport numbers please feel free to blank out.
The more the merrier, a chance to swap experiences, information and meet lots of owners.
Merry Christmas.
Best Wishes
Lisa
