The last post merits a reply.
Spanish food is considered among the best in the world, not my opinion but a fact.
The food in the restaurant without doubt is of a very high quailty and to publicly slate it is a bit unfair.
To say that all it is good for is a burger is saying more about the guest than the restaurant. Tapas ,quaility of the wine list and the setting are also excellent.
Having been to Campbells also which we enjoyed as a home from home type of meal I would agree it is worth the 5 minute walk however to deny yourself a meal in the clubhouse restaurant would be a mistake.
Why not keep an open mind and make your own mind up after you have given the clubhouse a chance.
You generally find in life you get what you deserve and are prepared to pay for.

The name 'Campbells' doesn't sound very spanish, what type of food do they do, the mixed non defined european food? I cannot understand why so many people moan about spanish food, why go to spain and want 'english' food.

Campbells is well worth a visit - it's an Irish bar with the restaurant serving delicious quality food - more British than Spanish admittedly but you'll find it busy all week as it's popular with the local Spaniards too! It's easy to find - out the main gate at Roda turning right and it's next to the traffic lights at the crossroads. We're on phase 3b and it's an easy walk across the course (at night only of course!) and back again so alcohol can be enjoyed!
We were in Roda in June and ate in the clubhouse a couple of times, although admittedly in the bar not the restaurant. We found the food to be acceptable and to be honest good value for money. What we really enjoyed though was the relaxing atmosphere and the attentive friendly staff - that alone would draw us back time and time again. We're back in August so will be sorely disappointed if that's changed!

This time phase3b merits a reply since getting personal. I had an extremely poor meal at the clubhouse and so did my guest. I had a fillet steak that was burnt on the outside, overcooked inside yet cold, my guest had the fish which again was overcooked. I had heard that the Tapas menu was good however we were not given such a menu so thought since it was quiet they were not offering it.
As I said in January we ate in the clubhouse most of the time and found the food excellent (hence going there so often), I did not find the food excellent this time, in fact far from it. Having paid for it in the past and knowing what I should get I felt that this time I did not get what I paid for so I'll go elsewhere however I will enjoy a burger and a beer on the beautiful terrace at the clubhouse.
Again, this is just my opinion.

A lot has been said about the pros and cons of a new hotel. I have always said that it will not worry me too much if its built or not as I don't think it will effect me in any way. Now there are different opinions about the quality of food and standard of service from the club house maybe a hotel would be just what the resort needs. It does seem that as soon as the club house is busy the standards drop as they struggle to cope. A hotel restaurant will provide a bit of competition and an alternitive place to go on the resort.
I personally like the club house and very much enjoy a nice glass of San Miguel, and a chat to other owners or visitors in the the bar. The last time we were there in June we were entertained by some brit demanding the complants book, did anyone else see that as there were quite a few in the bar at the time. However they did not have one. The time before that in May we took two friends with us and were given a free plate of ham as a sorry because they took over an hour and a half between courses.
It must be said that although I have had the odd poor meal or bad service I have also had some great meals and times. I took my whole family last January and had a great meal and time and everybody loved it. I will be visiting the club again soon and enjoying all they have on offer.
Maybe LP is right as I think the best meal I have had was at Pearls Plaice the best fish and chips I've had for years. Just don't knock it until you tried it.

The great thing about Roda compared to most resorts is in the area you have loads of places to chose from.
We eat in a different place every night when we are on holiday and I cant think of a bad meal.
Even the good old Wok buffet is Ok I guess its just a matter of taste.
So if you dont like the club house just walk or get a cab down to town.

We haven't eaten in the clubhouse for a while, but last time it was very good. We tried Rosalinds in the 525 square last week for the 1st time - it was awful! Risotto undercook & inedible. The chef sent a message that it was perfectly cooked & was supposed to be chalky. The owner then told me he had never had a risotto sent back in years!! Ten minutes later the table next to us sent their risotto back. We won't go back!!

It is strange we had a meal at Rosalinds at Easter they had a winter deal l cant remember exact details but something like 3 courses and a glass of wine for 10 euros the food was fine and at that price I was happy.
If you havent tried it Encarnacion is very nice its a bit more expensive than the places on the square but very nice. We also think El Patio is great if you want a good value meal and a cheap botle of wine.
