Polaris TV Package

my parents are out next week signing me up for polaris TV. I received an email from the call centre telling me that the TV is on offer from the 8th June at 289 Euro?

Have they reduced it further, or have you got your TV elsewhere? Hope so 80 euros in my pocket is better than in the Polaris Pocket!

My Brother is at our apartment at the moment and is going to sign up for the TV package tomorrow so I will post the price we pay once he texts me.

Got back from Condado last night. I went into Customer Services on Monday for the TV package ONLY, it was special offer €209!

Lets hope this tend of PW sensible pricing extends to all areas, Beer @ 2 Euro would be very exceptable.

For 209E it's worth it, although probably still triple the actual cost of the boxes PW supply. I will certainly be buying it when I'm over in July, although I'd hope to be spending a few evenings in the Clover rather than watching big brother!

I think Andy is implying that the real cost is 3 times more buying from Polaris than getting the same box from someone else i.e. 209/3 = 69.66 euros from someone else - I'm out in July and am going to invest

Phil, I think Andy is saying that Polaris are probably picking these boxes up for about fifty quid! Then knocking them out at a big mark up. Still you get installation and support, so cant complain at 209.

Andy, my dream come true would be Big Brother on the Big screens in The Clover! Especially as the boring football season is over YEAH!

At €209, it is probably about worth it for me.  My only concern, and the one making me reserved before progressing is whether this is a one-off up front costs and no monthly fee or not.  Lets face it, we have been told many things before by PW, only to be changed later.  When you buy the box, do they give you any documents guaranteeing that they will not impose a monthly subscription in the future?

If they do, then I will buy.  If not, and I paid for a box and then in 6mths time get told that I then need to pay €20 per month to view the channels, I would be livid and want a full refund.  Only being out for say 5 week pa, any deal that involves monthly charges is not for me.

I wish I could be more trusting, and as happy as I am with what I have there, on this one I am very suspicious.  I am concerned that this is a 'sting' just waiting to happen

Yep, they are still making a profit, the Wisi boxes they sell, or simular ones cost around €90 so they are making a 100% mark up but then that does include installation and support.   I guess the main plus is that they have dropped the price from the initially stupid €400 to €209 which is slightly more competative.   

If you are thinking of getting the PW box, ensure that when they install it you insist on knowing the PIN number they are setting.  ( either by asking directly or looking over thier shoulder ).

Brother bought ours on Wednesday, being installed on Tuesday next week.

PW told him that there are NO monthly fees. He questioned them about situation at La Torre and asked if likely to happen CDA. Was told no as the whole community contribute towards the maint. of the TV and phone system on CDA within our community charges. (230,000 euro per year according to the budget) they said that on La Torre this did not happen.

As we all know PW are a law unto themselves so what happens in the future is anyones guess.

We have had this concern about the prospect of a monthly fee.but we are already all paying that in our community charge- whether you get PW's system or not. At this price for now it suits us. Maybe if no bars on CdA have sport on TV we might reconsider in the future.
