Did Condado survive the rain?

Just seen pictures of a flooded La Torre. Sympathies for all those affected

Wondered what the situation was like on Condado ?

OMG! I knew the storms were on the way but I didn't realise to what extent!!

My sympathies goes out to all affected too.

And yes it would be interesting to know if Condado survived the storms ?

Is La Torre on a flood Plain then?

OMG! Indeed. They must be devestated. Sympathy from us too

Is Condado ok?

Hope they can get things sorted in time for the Davis Cup tennis which starts at La Torre tomorrow

Condado seemed fine on Monday when we left. No obvious damage.

OMG, I can't believe these pictures!! Could this happen to Condado though, as we are quite high up?

jardines on a slope so can't see it there, probably did the resort the world of good.

Those pictures are a real surprise- hadnt realised just how heavy the storm was although we heard there was alot of thunder locally. I see they ask us to think of the people affected by the flood waters and can see that cars have been caught up in it as well as the surrounding grounds but have people had their apartments and other belongings damaged?  Do they know why that area flooded?

Drove around today and looks OK here, had one apartment with a leak from roof but polaris out today doing repairs. The wind is really strong today but its been warm and sunny.

Weekend looks Ok from forecast and next week should be just the right temperature  about 27 c cooler than a few weeks ago.

Stayed at la Torre a couple of years ago in October and arrived on the evening of thunderstroms & flash floods. What happens is all the surrounding agricultural land starts draining off rapidly into the drains culverts by the side & underneath the main roads. The service roads at the sides became little rivers very quickly as the drains can't cope with the volume of water and La Torre's land drains must go into the same system. The occassion in October 08 was only 4-6 hours solid rain and the grounds became quite flooded then but nothing like the extent of these recent floods. Obviously it rained for a lot longer.

I can't see us having these issues on Condado because we are on quite high ground when you look around you.

The old saying rings true 'the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain' !!

The pictures of La torre came as a big surprise as our neibours son & friends arrived back from Hacienda on Wednesday evening & we spoke to hm on Tthursday morning & he didnt mention the storms at all, infact he was very tanned & said the temprature was in the high 30`s all week.

They did drive up to Benidorm for two days, so maybe they missed it

wouw the pics look bad. we were over last monday for a look around, what a change. when we left condado on wednesday everything was in order. on the way to the airport we had amazingly lot of rain and the road was very dangerous.for a moment we thougth we were home in ireland already. we still made it in time to the airport.

OMG those poor people, that looks like they have had a really rough time. I just hope that it can all be repaired quickly and without too much loss for them. And I thought that my soggy garden was bad, yikes

Nearly every year there are floods here at the mar menor just different areas are effected, Mar meno 2/3 years ago Torre pacheco last year and most of the time the resorts actually on the Mar. Agricultural abuse and all the buyilding work created no escape for floodwaters when it rains

Were we are on Condado we had bad rains 2 years ago around Camposol/mazarron, when the contruction of the RM3 was halted due to severe flooding.

The big scare is the Gotta Fria, a natural occurence every 7-10 years, when warm sea air meets cold land air. Last event was devestating, and for the last 2-3 years they have forcasted another one, but didn't materialise. Lets hope we won't get one this year as the summer has been extremelyhot and so is the sea temp.
