Hi,
I guess this is a old question, sould I have a pool, or would a hot tub be just as good?
I understand that San Jose have concerns that granting planning for a pool once the villa is completed will be of genuine concern. Therefore recommending this is added when submitting the detailed planning for the property.
Has anyone else been notified of anything similar? I have been quoted 15000 euros for planing, project management and 4 x 8 pool.
Should I just leave it or consider a hot tub since there will be communal pool?
Regards
Baz

I suppose they would say that as it's more business for them, although with the water concerns it's probably a valid reason.
Another reason for getting it done with the build is you will only pay 7% tax on the pool against 16% should you add it later.
Hot tub sounds good though and less maintenance.
Regards,
Steve.

We also hear that should you not opt for a pool at the start, you will have to wait until the urbanisation is completed to have one installed.....which could take a number of years. Dependent on the size of plot and your intentions with your garden area, it may well be prudent to have one installed at the beginning, however, as Steve suggests, actually filling it may well have it's own issues, alongside the maintenance with the urbanisation being a construction site. Suggest you make sure if you buy one at the start you get an adequate cover for it so not to have to keep changing the water. At least if you do it now, they can plan external pipework placement.

I won't be bothering with a pool
apart from the fact I couldn't fit one on my plot ,
I am hoping to get on well with my neighbour and just nip over the wall through their garden and on to the pool side
but a hot tub is within everybody's grasp could we have some good parties on the roof terraces
GAL
ps off to Spain on sunday so any questions you want asking let me know b4 then

There will be at least six months of the year when you will not be able to use a pool unless it is heated or your extremely brave and has a really good cover (we get strong winds, especially in the spring). Filling a pool here is not a problem. Its illegal here to fill a pool from mains water so you buy water in and it comes in water lorry tankers. At the moment 1 tanker full is approx. 100 Euros in this area. To fill a pool forthe first time is around 6 or 7 tankers give or take a tanker or two..

Hi Linda
Thanks for the info regarding the water / pool situation.
Do you know if the same applies to filling a Jacuzzi / Hot Tub.
We are thinking of having one on the solarium ( Azucena ), and would be interested to see if any one else has the same idea !
Regards to all forum members !

Hi Baz. I dont know anyone with a hot tub but I would think the answer is yes. Many Spanish people ignore this law and fill from the mains which causes ructions when the water pressure goes down for the surrounding houses.

Baz,
I believe quite a few people are considering having a Jacuzzi on the roof but are waiting to find out if structurally it it safe to do so. If you are having one then I can just pop over the wall as I believe you are attached to us! (we are No. 37) That should save me a few bob

Hi all,
We have a hot tub at home at the moment and know they are great especially in winter. Not really sure what they will be like in Spain with higher temperatures during summer. Ours is 5 to 6 persons and takes about 1000 litres of water.
One thing I would say, is that i noticed a few people that have bought Azucenas are considering putting a hot tub on the top solarium. It may be a good idea that these owners contacted each other and if they are buying the tub around the same time they could hire the crane between them to lift the tub up as there is no other option for getting one up there. Also need to check up on the extra loading on the solarium, ours weighs 300kg without the water so put the water in and 5 or 6 people and you have a lot of wieght. I personally don't think it will be a problem but if it were me i would check with SJ first.

Thanks for the comments. We just cant make my mind up. Tempted to go the hot tub route and use the communal pools, if still being built.
For the non mathematicians one litre or water weighs one kilogram.
Cheers
