Medical Information:
You can only use NHS GP practices in Spain if you are registered with them. To register at least 1 member of your family must be officially resident in Spain and paying National Insurance. That rules most of us out.
As Max says you can call an ambulance (0034902505061 is the number on the notice board which it would be smart to store in your mobile phone). It will take you to an NHS hospital where your treatment will be covered by your European Health Insurance Card (available FOC. Apply online at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers if you haven’t got one).
If you need urgent treatment, want to use your EHIC, but calling an ambulance in not appropriate you can go to a casualty facility. I am told the nearest is at Las Lagunas Hospital which you get to by going along the N-340 to the Hipercor junction then going down towards Fuengirola. I didn’t actually go looking for it but it’s somewhere in that area.
If you have travel insurance, or are willing to pay, one of the private clinics may be more appropriate. Angels Nocturnas is English speaking and open 24\7 and comes recommended. The easiest (but not shortest) route to it is along the coast to the London Pub, turn right then right again at the traffic lights, pass Spainsbury’s on the right then the clinic is on the right. If you need to go to hospital they will direct you to the most appropriate facility so even if you have insurance carrying your EHIC card is a good idea.
