My wife & I came over at Xmas and we were informed about the residents meeting in January 2008. Being self-employed is very difficult to fly back at such short notice, but nether the less I managed to fly out for the meeting leaving my wife at home to run the business.
Regarding the meeting I felt it could have been planned better i.e. adequate notice being given so that more people could have attended. I also believe that residents should had a separate meeting so as all issues could be addressed it, would also have enabled residents to get to know each other, perhaps that is what Taray didn’t want!
It seemed to me that the meeting was called just to railroad the residents into taking over the community regardless of if the development is finished or not, I don’t know how things are done in Spain but I certainly would not buy a car if it was not complete. Why should the community take over the responsibility of the swimming pool when there is further work to be done on the surrounding areas of the estate? This is should only be considered when all work is completed (pavements jet washed, roads cleaned, clubhouse finished etc).
At the meeting people had various complaints regarding the flyover the youth club and the green areas and the swimming pool etc.
(1) All bridges & structures require considerable approval planning applications which mean Taray would have known all along? It could be argued that the residents affected by the flyover & youth club would not have chosen those particular plots.
(2) Swimming pool area and grass verge, at meeting in January it was stated that 34,000 euros would be required for the yearly upkeep which I believe way above for something a little bigger than a splash pool. Contingency fund for pool 7000.00 euros in case of any leaks etc. When I purchased the property I was informed that it came with a 10 year guarantee, so are Taray saying there is no guarantee with the pool whatsoever.
Colin states on this site that at the meeting with Taray regarding the grassed area surrounding pool that is our responsibility as it clearly shows it on the plans, so be it be it then we may have to pay for the removal of the grass ourselves and replace with safety flooring, by the same context it deemed we also require the remainder of our green areas which is clearly shown on the plans which also did not show the clubhouse.
Torre Alcantara with no green areas to become the poorer cousins of San Cayetano with their lovely green areas!
In my opinion we all have various issues which need addressing, and the only way forward is to unite as community and give the elected president (Colin Weir) a chance at the of end of the day he was only person brave or daft enough to take on the role of president. So it is within our own interests to give him the backing he requires!
