This is a fictional story based on the information received during Space Clearing

In what seemed to be a peaceful village nestled in the Spanish mountains, there stood a humble house that appeared ordinary to the casual observer. Its stone walls and red tiled roof blended seamlessly with the surrounding homes. However, this seemingly unremarkable dwelling concealed a valuable secret for those fleeing the Spanish Inquisition.

Inside that house was a bustling bakery oven. From the early hours of the morning, the scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the windows, creating a welcoming ambience that attracted the townsfolk. But behind this front business, the inhabitants of the house harboured those who were persecuted by the Inquisition.

The family residing there, the Rodriguez family, had witnessed the cruel persecution taking place in the country. Driven by the need to aid the oppressed, they decided to use their bakery as a secret refuge. The bread oven served as a discreet entrance to a spacious and secure basement.

When someone arrived in the village seeking to escape the Inquisition, the Rodriguez family would open the doors of their bakery using a prearranged signal. The persecuted individuals would be swiftly guided to the basement, where a group of people stood ready to protect and provide refuge. The basement was well-equipped, with makeshift beds, enough food, and water to keep the fugitives safe until they could continue their journey to freedom. Often via the tunnel also hidden in the basement.

The success of this clandestine operation was due in large part to the bakery's apparent normalcy. The townspeople came and went without suspecting that behind this everyday façade, men and women who had defied the power of the Inquisition were hidden and helped to escape.

As time went on, the house in the mountains became a trusted haven for the persecuted. Many people managed to escape thanks to the courageous and discreet efforts of the Rodriguez family and their collaborators. However, keeping the secret was always a constant challenge. The Inquisition was relentless, and its spies were everywhere.

One day, an envious and suspicious neighbour decided to inform the authorities about the clandestine activity occurring in the Rodriguez family's bakery. The news quickly spread, and the forces of the Inquisition approached the village determined to put an end to the escape operation.

The Rodriguez family and the refugees were alerted in time and had to flee hastily through the tunnel. With the help of other sympathetic villagers, they managed to guide the persecuted individuals towards new safe routes, keeping them out of the Inquisition's reach.

The house in the mountains served as a refuge for those persecuted in the Spanish Civil War also, the spirit of solidarity and resistance of the Rodriguez family and their community remained alive for close to two hundred years.

The Rodriguez family have long since left the house and the bakery no long since closed but their brave struggle against oppression and their sacrifices live on and are a testament to the indomitable human spirit, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, there are those who will risk everything to protect the persecuted and uphold justice.
