Bank accounts information from general forum

This  link is posted on general forum  in general chit chat thread. It is about non residendts bank accounts and the requirement to have non residents certificate from National Police. It is worth a read. I think this is what you were asked for Pauline? Maybe we all need to obtain a certificate? If anyone has details of where to go in the Vera area that would be great.

At least that explains the difficulties we've had.  Clearly Cajamar was one of the first banks to implement this new ruling.  Fortunately we had not actually deposited anything in the account ,so at least for us, it doesn't mean that we can't get at our money, though I'm sure that must be the case for some people.
It would be very useful to know where to go and how to go about obtaining the necessary 'Certificate of Non residence' in or near Vera.  I haven't heard anything from Juan yet so I don't know whether he will be able to obtain that on our behalf or whether we need to go in person. I understand it takes about 10 days which means that unless you are planning to stay in Spain for about 2 weeks, it will prove difficult to do it in one trip.

More has set up a link to more information on this subject. I will email Jesus in our bank tomorrow and see has he any information on this for us. As you said if we not going to be out there for 2 weeks at any one time, could be quite difficult to process.

I have followed the links and read all the articles - it is all becoming so complicated!  I think tomorrow I will make some enquiries re. a Nationwide Flex account which sounds pretty good but I am wondering whether we will be able to set up direct debits/standing orders to pay things like water/electricity etc.
I also received another email from Pedro saying that actually as long as you take with you : passport, property deeds, confirmation of UK address etc and go along to the Town Hall it should be quite straight forward to obtain the certificate of non residency.
We have until September to try and get something sorted out but actually that is not that far away!  I think I wll get onto Juan tomorrow to see if he has any suggestions.

I have just had email from our bank Bancaja, and have been told they have forms for us to sign re non residency when we visit at the end of the month. He has not heard about closure or freezing of bank accounts. So maybe anyone who is concerned get on to their own bank.
