Hi,
Can anyone confirm what  TV channels are available at Roda? I presume putting up any sort of dish or aerial is forbidden.

Mike

You can get BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, ITV2, Sky News and MTV (in German).  Also a lot of Spanish channels and a few German, hope this helps.

Cheers,

The extras department offerred me three options when I enquired.

THe basic package which is free and includes the channels listed below.
OPtion 2 means adding a digital box for about euro100 and gives you a lot more channels mostly Spanish.
For about e300 you can get a sky system.

I just took the basic package but Christine in the front office should have details or e-mail the extras department.

Hi All

Just to say that the TV is not "free" - the basic pack as detailed below is actually a charge via the Comunidad of 11 euros per month - it forms part of your community fees - and I assume you have to pay it whether or not you have a TV!

And, I don't think you can get Sky at the moment surely ?  Can someone who has subscribed to that confirm or otherwise - I would be interested to know.

Seems as if they have also put the prices down for the full pack - this time last year we were quoted Euros 400 for the connection, 100 euros for the digibox and an extra 20 euros per month on top of what we pay via the communidad.

If I have got the above totally wrong, could someone correct me please.

Hi all

The con that is satellite TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year we paid 300 Euros for the TV package.  20 Euros per month for all the channels which roda advertised.  Roda recommended the company "MY TV".
We have since found out that the civil guard carried out a raid on the company as they were supplying Sky Sports which was illegal.
My husband spoke to the company as he wasn't very pleased and he said he wanted to cancel as he basically wanted the system for Sky Sports.  He was informed he would have to return the digibox  and if he wanted to have it back at any stage it would cost 100 euros.
We certainly do not want to be part of any scam which supplies channels illegally but this company was the one Roda use!!  We expect to have reliable and legal services recommended to us by Roda, not the reverse.

I also rang the TV company on my recent visit to Roda re loss of Sky Sports channels.  They said that they would be adding Setanta channels at the end of the month plus a Spanish sports channel.  The jury's out for value for money!

I just want to correct my earlier posting whereby I stated that I thought individual owners on Phase 1 contributed 11 euros a month via the community fees towards the basic TV provision.  In fact, it is 2.5 euros per month and my apologies for misleading everyone.

We just had TV installed, cost 250 for installation & we have 110 channels. Basically it is all the English channels you get with Torresat TV (about 70) plus about 20 Spanish channels & some French & German TV & about 20 radio stations.. Monthly rental is 20 euro & the picture quality is excellent. PM me if you want the contact details.

This systems requires that you have a small satalite dish, a small one installed, and is a re-broadcasting based system which I have in my apartment

No you do not get Skysports as it is ilegal to broadcast these channels in Spain yo do get things like Eurposport and GolTV

It will not come into your existing systems on RODA as they normally run in a new seperate cable, it will only work with one TV as it connects via its own box and viewing card

If you already have a competitive system they install for free

I don´t fully understand how this is working and perhaps there may be a much cheaper way to get UK TV based on your post

On RODA there is a large dish that will be pointing at I would think The Astra Satallite and they will have a decoder delivering the various channels to your TV

If they have not blocked the incomming signal then it, as originnally was the situation on Polaris, to simply plug in a cheap sat box between the TV and wall socket and receive all of the free to air channels on Astra, including the Freesat channels without having to pay any subscription and using a box costing less than €60, certainly worth a try if you have a box

Given that you have have stated that there is no dish they must somehow be using the large dish onsite

If Mike you can provide a simple list of the channels that you are receiving then it will be easy to see if these are the Free to Air channels on Astra and then there is no installation charge or monthly fee required, just plug in the box and tune

Typicall the extra Torresat channels are a couple of specific movie channels, an adult channel, goal TV, some Spanish channels like TVE and of course the Torresat information channels

Just to explain this I have a 1.9m dish at home, a 150 pound Freesat box in one room, a Skybox in another, a cheap satbox upstairs that I bought form Leroy Merlin, €30 and a cable runs to a neighbours property and I get all the channels on www.freesat.co.uk

If this system works it also means that you could use a Sky Box and get all the subscription channels using a card, even the card that you use in the UK

If you are getting the same channels for €20 per month then you may have been ripped off as this is the normal fee for Torresat which has some different channels and requires a box with a decoder card and a small dish
