Paul do you have access to your meter? Have you seen one of your written bills??
I have no idea where my bills go, but it would be good to see them. I think that maybe Robbie and I are on a different charge/connection as we appear to paying more. Need the others to contribute on this topic so we can all do a comparison.
Since we have gone metered I have sent in DD 318.06euros and in that period have only spent 5 days there. Although, until we arrived on the 16 Nov the mains was turned on therefore we were heating water and paying for the fridge. I am out again in a few weeks will be interesting to see how the DD changes.

About de bills. If you did not say any other thing, go to the apartment. In my case, I ask the company to send them to my address in Madrid. In your case, ask the company to send them to your advocate.

Hi All
Tracey as you say we seem to be on the higher conection charge , I did ask my Sol about this at the time and his reply was I was on the high power conection which would allow me to have more things going at the same time but to be quite honest I have not seen much of a change from when we had the builders supply, looks like you and i have been stung again,
I will be writing to the admin to see if he can have something done about not being able to read our meters because at the moment we have to take what ever the say as being correct.
Carlosb, you say you contacted Endesa and have your bill sent to your home address could you please post or /PM me with the address and persons you contacted as I would like to have mine sent to the internet cafe in the port , at least then I can see what I am paying for instead of just handing over the money , do have any idea on how we stand regarding the law as to reading our meters ?,
Regards
Robbie ,unhappy Endesa customer.

I can't say I am unhappy. It does seem all above board and I suspect that if we had sight of the Endesa bill it would explain it for us. I guess that my bill is going to the post office at the bottom of the road and then being sent back to Endesa when it is not collected. When I am next there I will pop in and see if anything is there for me. I suppose I could reroute the bill to another address, not sure if they would send it to the UK. I may enquire when I am next there. To be fair I would prefer the higher breaker and pay slightly more, knowing that I will not have electric over load cut outs in the summer. Would the meter cupboard keys used in the UK work the locks on the meter cupboards there?? That way you could monitor the meter reading, but without sight of the bill this is useless as you don't know what you have been billed for.
I am waiting in anticipation for the next direct debit to go from my account. Will it be HIGHER! or LOWER!....sounds like a tv game show LOL

The meter cupboards in our block were open at New Year. It is a mortice type lock, the key from the UK wouldn't work (maybe).
We aren't out until Easter and I am sat in Saudi until the day before we travel. We shouldn't use any electric until then, so there should only be a standing charge.

Hello again. there is a web page www.endesa.es in wich you have telephone to call. Also they have a defender of the client , who is responsible of all the complaints. Bur, please, dont expect them to help you in english... Any way, next time I receive mi bill I will tell you the exact number. I reiterate, don worry too much, it is quite nirmal. For example, I have contracted the maximun power I could because it is the very first time all my devices are electric , including the heating. I think it is, more or less, 7000 w.

Happy New year to you all
I had hoped to come out in January but we were snowed in at Gatwick. Hope to be out in March for a weekend.
Not sure if it helps any one, I had a bill from Endesa 30 December 2009 for 14,47. Over all i have not stayed in the apartment for more then 3 weeks During my stay I did worry about leaving the water heater on all day. So when i had enough hot water i used to disconnect the plug. I must say it was inconvenient especially with the plug being so tight and not easy to take out. I was always worried the whole fitting would come off. Is there anything on the market with a switch which would make it easier to operate. ON my last trip i had an almighty bang in the apartment. The fuse blew left a burning smell. Once i tripped the fuse again all was fine except the door bell did not work. Hope to get that seen too next time im out.
Just for info I wrote to the admistrator Juan asking for a date for the next AGM he replied that it will be sometime in May.
Adios for now
freddie

Yes there are devices available for you to use. A simple timer device is what we use. Simply set the clock and then up to 20 on/off times per day to heat your water. Come to think of it, you can use them foall sorts of things - like turning stand alone lamps on off(whilst you are out in the evening) etc. They are not expensive either.

They're not that expensive. Got mine in Leroy Merlin or Aki. You might want to visit their websites and see if you can do a price comparison - but I suspect that there is not a great deal of difference, and of course you don't have to bother with a pesky adaptor!!!

hi guys, I have received a bill from our rental agent for the electricity used between the connection date, 21st of september, if I remember right, to the 21st of Janurary..as we are here 24/7 this may give you a good idea of an average to expect..
Ok, the water heater is on 24hrs and is run down to almost cold every day, Monday to Friday we are out all day till 6.30 ish but the tv dvd sky box etc are all left on standby, the heating is on full blast as soon as we get through the door, as was the air con during late september, early october, The Tv and lap top permenantly pluged in to the mains and both are on for at least 6hrs a day, the oven is used every day for up to 2hrs at a time and there are up to four loads of washing a week done in the machine, oh and also the dishwasher will be on once a day.
Total for the 122 days.- 221 euro, so just short of 2 euro a day. Roughly 55 euro a month..
I can only assume our landlord has paid any connection charges and I think he must have opted for the lower tarrif breaker as the power has tripped off a few times when we have most appliances working at the same time...but 55 euro a month for everything doesn't seem to bad to me, quite happy, especially compared to back home, could easily pay that for two weeks during the winter months and thats with having gas fired heating and hot water !

Hi all
We have paid an initial connection charge of €187,82 on 16thOct, followed by €4,64. Then bills of €44,64,€14,37 and €104,83. We have been out here a lot in that time so I have been able to work out some costs which may give you some idea what daily costs seem to be.
I think our last bill was as a result of an actual reading so I have divided the total paid(excluding connection) by the number of days we´ve been here and it works out at about €2.50 a day.(€17,50 a week),bearing in mind that we use the oven most days and have had the heating on quite alot over the last 2 months. We also keep the boiler on all the time. Because our meter cupboard has been left unlocked I have been able to work out how many units different things use and how much a unit is (You have to do something when the weather is bad!! Sad,I know) I reckon the aircon costs about €1 a day(not continuous) Also leaving the fridge and freezer on when we´re not there costs €1,40 a week.
It would be interesting to see if my calculations work out the same for other people.Unless you have paid for a box at the post I don´t think anyone will see a bill.Mind you I have seen Berta´s and it doesn´t make much sense! I think most English people who live here(and Spanish too) are in agreement that Endesa bills make no sense and just have to be paid to avoid being cut off!!
A rare glimpse of sun is shining through the Internet cafe window so must dash and make the most of it!
Sue
