Hi all,
Just like everyone, we also got sucked in, and purchased a Donana on the ACC, disappointed with everything, we arranged a meeting with Huma and Parador last monday at the MCC site.
Well, i cannot say i liked the MCC, so we went to have a look at the Tabernas site and was well impressed, and came out trumps with huma. They offered us a 3 bed , 2 bathroom detached villa with a large corner plot at the same price, the same as the Donana but larger and called (Gabo de Gata) fantastic..
On the ACC we had purchased a 2 bed, 2 bathroom villa only on a 200m plot., this one is on a 330m plot
Tabernas is nearer to the airport and beaches nearer than Mojocar , we have all copies of the approved plans etc, which our solicitor has checked and all is fine. All macinery moved onto the site Tuesday and work as begun..

Come on, someone must be telling fibs - you say it's nearer the airport (which one?) and nearer the beaches of mojaca, yet previous poste have said it's over an hour from any beach - who's right?

Re Tabernas and Huma if you are interested but unsure of validity of the licences and Humas word why not contact Snr Chaves of the JUnta Andalucia and ask him can he confirm all is in order as Huma are now getting people to transfer from ACC. As Snr Chaves is in favour of demolishions etc , surley hed know if all was ok. Straight from the horses mouth as the saying goes.
Anything is worth a try

Hi Jasp,
From Mojocar playa to N344 ,junction 520 to Junction 514 , theTabernas turn off it was 10 minutes, from this junction to the site was a 30 minute steady drive.
I don't know where the others are coming from for them to say 1 Hour............................
Almeria airport is 30 minutes and you have Gabo de gata beaches which is the junction before the airport or Roquetas de Mar is another beach resort which is approx 35 minute drive.

I have been looking on the RAC Route Planner website and the official distance from Mojacar to Tabernas is as follows:
65.02 miles
104.6 km
Estimated time of journey 1 hour 24 mins
1 hour 17 mins if you are lucky with traffic
and 1 hour 34 mins if you are unlucky with traffic.
Have a look for yourselves on the RAC website. I hope this is of help to people.

I,ve got to say as a transferee from Acc to Oasis tabernax that i think the location is fairly good,we travelled fom the centre of Almeria ,Hotel Catadral in the Cathedral square, highly recomended in just 20 mins, and the road links are fantastic.
The airport run takes just 30 mins again an easy straight forward trip and as for your beech trip again the nearest is just 20 mins from site so is got to be worth considering and if you switch and Acc gets the green light you can allways switch back!!

I have made the journey from Mojacar Playa to Granada via Tabernas several times and I have never done it in less than an hour. To get to Junction 520 from Mojacar Playa takes 10 minutes on a good day if you start from the Comercial Centre. From the Comercial Centre to the southern end of the beach takes five to ten minutes in winter and as much as three quarters of an hour in August (and indeed nearly as much in Easter week).
The beaches of the Cabo de Gata must be at least as far as you have to get back from Tabernas via Sorbas, then do quite a bit of motorway in the direction of the airport, before taking the Carboneras turn. From that turn it must be at least 15 minutes to any of the coastal areas. If you are looking for something which is located conveniently for the coast, Tabernas is probably not for you.

It would be quicker by bike in August along the beach. Those of us who live here year-round do not spend time there in August if we can avoid it and I know several who live on or near the Playa who do not venture our in their cars except when all the Spanish holidaymakers are having their lunch and siesta - it is the only civilised time to be on the road and to visit Mercadona! If you are referring to the journey from Mojacar to Tabernas, I think the RAC have it spot on as posted by Lisa.

The previous post was not to make liars out of Bill & Lisa (especially, as their new hot tub looks inviting ), it was to show that the RAC route planner is only as good as the information provided .

I just wanted to show that Mojacar beach was further away than people think. Also getting along the beach stretch in August is a complete nightmare we went down there, never again you just crawl along at a snails pace. If I were buying on OCC then I would look for a beach closer to home.
Seems like everyone is now transferring over to OCC, I wonder how many people are left hanging onto ACC?

Hi
My Solicitor has been holding my deposit 24,000 euros since 2005, does anyone know whether I am entitled to the interest they have made on this money should I transfer it to alternative ban account?

if it was my money, i would instruct the lawyer to transfer it to a bank of your choice, don"t know why you did not do that a long time ago, whether or not the lawyer would transfer the interest accrued to yourself is very doubtfull as they are not a financial institution so are not obliged to pay interest on moneys held on their clients instruction.

Sprockchick, Jethro is right. We had our second stage payment held by our solicitor which had not been passed to Huma as we had no bank guarantee for the first payment. We had it transferred to our Halifax extra deposit account and have received interest for the last two years.
It's your money so put it into your Spanish bank account so that it's available as soon as Huma start to rebuild!!

Definately have your solicitor to transfer "your" money . At least the developer/builder hasn't got hold of it unlike some unlucky people who will probably never get theirs back. I should move quickly and make "yourself" some interest. Why make others rich!!!!!!!!

Bill/Lisa - I certainly wouldn't say "everyone transferring from ACC"... Most buyers who've literally been hanging on for >4 years have either applied for refunds &/or sued HUMA, solicitors, etc., etc. HUMA have no money - cheques are bouncing - they certainly can't be trusted and I wouldn't spend one penny more with them when there are other options available. Somehow, HUMA has managed to persuade some people to transfer from ACC - notice that they have never given us an option of a refund!!!! What does that tell you? Unfortunately, for some poor buyers, I completely understand they feel they have no other option but to transfer since they've sunk quite a lot of money into ACC already! I wish you all the best whatever you decide and hope it works out.
