Today we bought two canopies in the Warrington IKEA at £9.99 each, they are white and so will meet PW requirements- thanks to whoever first alerted us to them. They had one up on display and it looked fine and I now wish I'd bought a couple more as they wiil also suffice as a curtain. as they have hook attachments. I think that we will be happy with the quality of these in the first instance because as building work will continue across the golf course the roof terraces and furnishings will be dusty, its a breezy place anyway, and so at this price I wont mind replacing them. PW's version is expensive and our first requirment is to furnish the inside of the apartment. Our initial plan was to find a kite shaped one or sail shaped one as they have a design element to them and are strong tapaulin, boat fitting companies have them. However in the early stages of fixtures and fittings we will have to make some compromises, but this isnt any great compromise to make, we can fit them ouselves and will have spent very little if they really dont work..

Angelbabe/phil,
You can rest assured that it is not a 'class thing' with a boy from the 'impoverished North East town of Hartlepool' but more like a quality thing. I've always been a one for selecting a suitable quality product & then shopping around to get the best price for it. At the end of the day if you want to adorn your apartment with something for less that the price of a decent pint of ale then that is your choice. Forum is for opinions to be expressed but just I'm indicating that rules will be in place. Check with other Polaris resorts and see if you can get details of what is contractually allowed before you lay out too much in these 'credit crunch times'. Any money wasted makes the replacement that much more expensive.
Stonephil,
Common sense comment from you there - decent quality ones will be able to be sought out at much cheaper prices than Polaris (just like everything else - furniture, services, golf, restaraunts, they all have to be competetive eventually or they will get no business). It seems like Polaris packages of white goods have already came down in price in response to the competition. I for one have no intention of buying any of Polaris products if they are not priced as favourably as I can get same quality elsewhere. Never been one for buying a designer T shirt just cos it was expensive, and I didn't think chavs could afford to on thier benefits ! If people who are interested buy collectively as a group, the prices are sure to be keener . Like I said in my post, there will be somewhere in the middle ground that fits the bill. Have you seen the image of the triangular sheeet and pictured in your mind how three of these strung toghether on the pergola will look ????
Regards,

Bill,
I certainly have no intention of making my apartment look tacky, but I have never had an issue with IKEA quality. These covers are of decent material, and at the price, very good value. I will give them a try and see how they look, if I don't like them then you are right, my eventual purchase will have cost me £6 more, oh dear!

Sure, I got a Zanussi washing machine from Eroski (across the motorway from IKEA) at about 275€, I also got a fridge for 199€, but only a basic one, as I can't see the point in a full fridge freezer (I am not planning to rent out for now and am not likely to be staying for more than a couple of weeks at a time). Delivery was free on both. I got a very nice tv - techwood 32" flat screen, with built in digital for 399€ at the supermarket in the TRADER shopping centre (which is by IKEA), but didn't get it delivered. There is also a Saturn in this complex - which is an electrical retailer with masses of choice on all sorts of goods.

Hi Jan & Mike,
I got all my white goods in Carrefour, washing machine 199, fridge/freezer 339, dishwasher 339, 32" flat screen tv for 399, they also deliver free. There is also zbedz in Camposol which is only 10 mins from Condado they do furniture and beds which is fairly reasonable, Andy is the chaps name and he is from England.

HI Phil and Helen,
Gutted we'll be missing you in September, we're going over in October at the moment, if they deliver the furniture sooner then it could be earlier, will let you know. Let us know about the cartridge type awnings, we'll be interested. Not long now to those beers.
Chris and Tracey.

Hi Margaret,
The white goods you bought from Carrefor were very reasonable, we have been quoted 1050 euros for a fridge/freezer, microwave & washing machine in silver. Are the ones you ordered white or silver?

Hi Alison
They were all white, I was going to buy silver but there was a 100 euro difference in price, and as the washing machine is going out the back I did'nt see the point also I wont be renting only for family and friends
