Hi Folks,

Hubby and I are due to complete on or around 15th October in Naranjos Penthouse Block 10.  Is there anyone out there due to complete on their penthouse before this date or are we going to be the first?

Alison

Hi Alison we are buying penthouse block 3.  When PW phoned us to arrange a date for completion we explained that we were out in Spain from 19th September for a week on holiday and therefore they agreed to arrange completion for 24 Sept.  We have arranged the mortgage and the valuation should be taking place soon.  So we will have to see if everything is in place and ready by then.

Think you guys will certainly be one of the 1st  - I heard from my neighbour Midge in block 16 he was originally offered completion at the end September  - but I think PW made a mistake here as they later offered me October 20 to November 20th saying block 16 would not be ready until that date

Good luck - we are going out of the 21st September for some sun and some furniture sourcing

Hi All,

We are completing in Block 9 on Nov 6th - assuming Habitation certs will be sorted.  Deb is out for a week's holiday in La Manga from 27th Sept & will visit the site a couple of times that week.  Looks like Mariap will be the first over the threshold.  We should keep close on this issue & share snagging issues etc.  I am sure there will be many common ones.

Good Luck to all

Gary from Polarair (Air Con) is hoping to vist site this week & access the Penthouses for AC positional confirmation

Regards

Nick & Deb

Nikc and Deb

Will be good to hear the feedback from Gary at Polarair - I was in touch with him a few weeks ago and he did not know how the aircon would be positioned in the penthouses  - I am hoping we can officially put the condensors on the roof !

Hi Maria and welcome to the forum,

Looks like your the guinea pig (no offence intended), as you will be first to complete.  This is a big responsibility as we (meaning all the penthousers) will be looking to you to supply all relevant info on the penthouses ( no pressure then). I am just desperate to know actual room sizes, window dimensions and aircon positioning. At least if I know where the aircon condensors are going to be before we go out it will give me time to get over any disappointments. Hope this is a task you will enjoy and relish if you are prepared to do it and  share the info with us all.

We too have everything in place just ready to sign and spend money furnishing(this will be the best bit for me, spending money is my favourite pastime.)

Thanking you in advance for your help and cooperation

Alison

Hi All,

I'm also down for between 20th Oct - 20th Nov.  Doing it by POA as I dont have any hols left really, apart from my week in Potugal with 39 other like minded nutters individuals.   I too wish to make contact with Gary from Polarair.  Has anyone been given quotes for Penthouses yet?  I'm really looking forward to it all now, and to meeting my fellow neighbours particularly those off this forum.  Will be out there for a flying weekend soon to scout for furniture.  Though having been to Murciafurniture previously, think they may get the business.  Without the wife's assistance now, I just want it done with the least hassle.  Guess I'll just have to pay extra for the priveledge.

So c'mon guy's and gals who's in block 1

Hi to all our neighbours

We are completing on block 10 29th October and have decided initially to fit ceiling light fans in the lounge and both bedrooms.

These have cost less than £100 in the UK (instead of laying out 2000+) and will give us financial breathing space for 6 months or so. Don't think we will actually need aircon in the winter and fans should be sufficient,

Also we can use the fans (rather than aircon) on occasions during the summer to reduce running costs.

Then we can assess what combination of units we require and thanks to all of you decide on the best manufacturer, installer and deal.

We have also bought an elecric fire suite with independent flame effect as a centrepiece for the lounge as well as winter heating. May need a couple of radiators as well.

Hope you don't mind if we use you as guinea pigs!

Best wishes on completion

Barry & Sue

Hi Barney,

Yes, I was thinking along the same lines at one time, as although we shouldn't need AC in the winter months, we will need heating, so I thought fitting the fans was a double expenditure as we will definatley need the AC in the summer.  I was also worried about using valubale space up in the lounge for fires & radiators etc.  I think the space in our apartments is very limited to be honest - so my immediate thoughts were not to put in fires etc that would take up valuable space.

Not sure though.  Deb will confirm space etc on her visit in Septemeber & we will make a final decision then I guess.  As you say a £100.00 for the fans is small fry & will pay for themselves against the Air con on the warm days / nights

Regards

Hi Nick,

Agree with what you said about double expendeture should you buy fans, as you WILL NEED a/c in summer.  Also you mentioned about space regards putting in a fire etc.  Why not get the a/c units that blow hot/cold air.  Warm in winter, cool in summer.  I'm thinking of putting ceiling light/fan with seperate standalone fan in lounge, where most people gather.  And a/c units in bedrooms only.  This is because from my experience some people will be on the terrace with patio doors open and air con on.  Also most people like to stay together on holiday, therefore they'll stay in lounge as much as poss, where there are only fans.  If it does become unbearable then they will RELUCTANTLY move to the bedrooms whereupon they will split up for a time.  However doing this means I would have to find a way to heat the lounge in winter?

Jim,

The modern day AC units all supply Hot & Cold air for use in Summer & Winter.  That is what we will put in (approx £2k for 3 units - 1 each in the lounge & 2 bedrooms)).  I think I will decide later about the fans - necessary or not based on cost saving.  My experience of them is that they are a bit noisey - for sleeping, but are quite effective.    Patio doors being Open with AC left on is a real no brainer - a real cash drain - so will need to watch the kids with that one. The Penthouses are all South facing so then sun will be beating through that Patio window for most of the day, so as you say additional fans may be necessary in there

Regarding AC.....I have gone for a 3 x 2 multi system.  This bacically means 2 condensor untis (almost same size as 1 big unit).  The advantage being that if one system goes down, the other will still function & probably be able to supply enough cooling to get buy until the other is fixed.  More cost effective too I understand

Nick
