Jeff et al,  Some other thoughts.

1. Dog owners can purchase anti-barking devices that fit to the dogs collar.  These emit high frequency sound that the dog does not like.  Often used to train younger dogs.

2. Noise sufferers  can by high frequency whistles or electronic devices  eg  http://www.uxcell.com/ultrasonic-dog-training-barking-refraining-controller-black-p-11422.html.  If someone is staying close, such a device will be well worth the small investment.  Regular use of these may modify the dogs behaviour.    This approach is more elegant than through buckets of water at the dogs on the balcony which  might occur to one after hours of suffering.

//Edit//  If someone got really mad about it - they might even resort to getting out a hose pipe as there is a handy tap on the balcony !!   I don't advocate such measures but it's not difficult to imagine frustrated people eventually taking these kind of actions. //

3.  Is there a Spanish equivalent of the RSPCA?   Such an organisation might have a view about three dogs confined to a balcony all day, especially if they are larger than minatures and might take some action.    Some dog lovers I know think that the barking may be a result of the dogs unhappiness with their confinement / over crowding.

Note the EyeonSpain article here about the new Spanish Law on dangerous dogs.

Does anyone

Paul, we call it cabin fever!!

If we don't physically take our dog (who has over 6,000 sq.ft. of garden to run right around the house) out for a walk she gets restless and just wants to get out!!  If she was stuck on a 250 sq.ft terrace for the day, with two others dogs (no matter what size!) she'd be hysterical!!

Should not be allowed, period.  One small, settled dog, maybe, but three noisy, restless dogs - no way.

Poor dogs, what a dreadful life they are leading.  I would be inclined to rescue the poor things if I was there.  Is there a Spanish RSPCA?

We arrived back in DV on Friday night - very peaceful..and then Saturday night - bingo - the dogs kicked off again and at 2.00 a.m. they were still barking away.  I am slowly losing my patience. What is the procedure for making a denuncia - I will be doing whatever is necessary to get these dogs removed.  I think we have all been tolerant for too long.  The occupants obviously have no regard for others living in the community.  We cannot let a few spoil it for the majority.

Don't they read Eye on Spain postings?

Luciana,

Luis posted this prodecure for complaining:

Dogs in Dv are in 8 25 01,I talked to Aea and they told that the only way to solve this problem is denounce it at the Manilva Police Station (policia municipal), phone 952-890945.(24 hrs)

If 5 people do this the dogs will be removed.  it would be great if you could do that while you are there.  We will be out next week and will do the same if the situation continues.

Regards,

Caroline

Luciana

I am in the block in front of block 8 and when I am there I can hear and see them. What you must do is what Caroline has said below, when i am out for agm in April I will be doing the same. Luis will do the same so that is 3 of us, so we need 2 more...come on guys we need help.

I would also report it to security at the entrance and get them to go and see the owner.

Contact our president, gerardocaballero@rosyfalcon.com, as he should be able to do something. At our management meeting recently I know that this was mentioned and both he and AEA know who the owner is. might be worth contacting Meisa at AEA, melisa@aea-administracion.com, and asking them to contact the owner directly.

also you will be suprised how few residents read EOS. perhaps there is an alternate universe somewhere where those who do not read EOS are on their own website wondering the same. just a thought

I'll be number 4 if John if you, Luis and Luciana complain also.  We're out from Tue 31st.  I don't speak Spanish though so am concerned that I won't get through to the right dept or get my messgae across.  Can anyone post a phrase on  here that we can all repeat at teh police station or over the phone?  That would be a big help.

John,

Maybe it is worth promoting both EyeonSpain and http://duquesavillage.wetpaint.com/ on in DV site if many owners are not aware of these sites.   Most owners will surely benefit from becoming aware of these  facilities.

Maybe we could have  a poster put up at the guard house - where people go to collect their post.  Is that something you can discuss at the EGM?

If my tranquility is disturbed by those dogs (when I go out early May) I will report it to the police and I will leaflet all nearby apartments with the advice posted below.

At the moment my partner is reluctant to go to DV because of the reports of the dog noise.  We spend a lot of time in the day on our balcony in the enjoying the peace and quiet (just reading, eating etc).  If she has to put up with yapping dogs all day long then she does not see the point in going !!!   This is partly because she feels for the dogs' distress.

Paul

Sunny afternoon and you have escaped from your minders....Don't worry we understand that is only once a week you get to mingle with people. Those people in the internet cafe you use must have got use to the stench you make when your incontinence pads start to leak.  try and be nice otherwise your parole officer will take a dim view.

Luis has kindly provided this:

quiero denunciar el ruido de unos perros que ladran todo el tiempo al lado de mi casa en duquesa village apartamento 8 25 01.

Perhaps if we all quote this at the police station in Manilva we can get those poor distressed dogs moved to all of our benefits.

Norman, I did not read your previous post before it was removed so admittedly it is difficult for me to comment on why it was removed.

However, I for one have found some of your previous posts provocative, offensive, irrelevant and interferring.

I didn't read Paul's (PMillsom) post as implying that a lower social class of tenant was responsible for the noisy dog problem??!  I have every sympathy for Paul and his partner and others at DV who are having to listen to distressed animals being cruelly neglected.  I am concerned about it myself and am not even there yet.

Honestly Norman I don't understand why you feel the need to comment on DV threads anyway.  Really , there must be websites and message boards more relevant to you.  I am exercising some self control here in refraining from suggesting some and perhaps you could do the same in future.

Norman,

You wrote "Why Should unfortunate holiday makers be conned into suffering????????"

Be assured I don't feel I was conned but I do detect a theme in your own postings that you do feel you were conned in your own Spanish "investment".    I do empathise with your sentiment given the many detrimental aspects of Spain that I have encountered in the last two years.  But they do have good weather, warms seas and the southern Iberian Peninsula is the nearest location to the UK with these attributes.

Recently I visited South Australia which has a similar climate, slightly drier and hotter, but many differences to Spain.  In fact, Norman, I generated a list of about 40 attributes that made Australia much superior to Spain.  Much less dog poo on streets, better driving style, higher standard of ethics of local politicians are just three of the many points that spring to mind.

I can understand your motivation to rant about the very many issues that are associated with Spanish living.  However Australia is just too far and visa restrained for many.  So we just have to make the best of what Spain has to offer.  It will always be imperfect and there is not much we can do to change it.    But we should and we can improve the conditions of our own developments.   That's what we are trying to do here.   Also I would not be surprised if the people responsible for the three, balcony confined, dogs turn out to be British and even owners of the apartment.

Paul

John, the angry troll doesn't have a place in Spain.  He lost what he invested in Spain.  Hence why he has to come and annoy the hell out of anyone who does enjoy their place in Spain.  The best thing to do it just ignore him and report him.  He obviously gets off on annoying others, so don't feed him.

Hopefully, there will come a time when he'll just be banned from the site if he's reported enough!  Should feel sorry for him really, he obviously doesn't have much else going on in his life!!  Bit like the dogs really, being couped up on the balcony all day!!!  Only he barks on here!!

I don't believe the owner of apartment 8.25.01 reads EOS.

However from the EGM, AGM minutes you will find the owner is Chris Lambourn-Brown (public domain information) I don't have his email address and if I did it would illegal under Spanish Data Protection laws to publish as you must have their permission to publish someones email address.

However a search on the internet reveals he uses facebook like many people and this is in the public domain.

Should you wish to contact him I am sure many of you will find a way.

PS You will need his name to denounce him or the other Lambourn-Brown listed as she may be the owner of the dogs.

I don't think we'll have a problem with people denouncing them now - I'll also denounce them next time I'm out if I hear those poor dogs at all.

I'm particularly concerned that the owner works for RyF - is that why action hasn't been taken by AEA??  This one really needs to be followed up.  The noise, as troublesome as it is, is secondary to the appalling conditions those dogs are being kept in!  Get them out of there soon!

Edited to say: having just done a search of EOS, from one of  Chantal's postings at the end of January here on EOS (trying to rent an apartment on her books), she states that she is "based on site", which may indictate that (unless they are renting another apartment themselves and letting their own out) they are in fact the owner/occupiers.

Feet need to be placed firmly down here!!
