Hi all,
We have a Marbella at Pinada golf near Villamartin, we have owned there for nearly 4 years, (My how it's flown by). We went through the regular break ins through the early days of the urbanisation. Changing locks as mentioned by Justin is an absolute must as your keys have been available to anyone.
When we first bought I was reluctant to fit a burglar as I didn't want to disturb neighbours with false alarms when we were not there. However we gave in eventually and put one in. Most people had gone for the wireless type you can get from B&Q. Being an electrician I have never been a fan of these as the main detection of an intruder were PIR's (Passive infra red) detectors. Although very good, the intruder is already inside the property when the alarm goes off. After some thought I decided to put in a wired alarm. The spanish for some strange but good reason put coving about 2 inches from the wall which is great for hiding wires behind. So with all wires hidden my wife approved the idea. I put magnetic contacts on the bottom of all of the white window blinds so when the alarm is set if any one of the blinds is lifted more than 1 inch the alarm sounds. It's been great peace of mind and the alarm has never gone off under a false alarm in 3 years according to my key holder.
Just hope I can do the same in our new villa on SADM
Regards Ian
