Lady Linda,
Was great to meet the pair of you as well, and what a cracking hubby you have there !!!
Hmmmm, New Year ??? Ok, here's a message for all intended residents of SADM.
We were informed that New Years Eve wouldn't be celebrated in quite the same way as we do here so we made a decision to drive down the coast to visit some family and friends, but due to over exhuberent session the night prior, decided that driving for 4hrs in hot sunny weather (had to get that in) wouldn't be recommended.
So we decided to aim for the coast higher up and ended up in Benidorm. Now you'd think a place like that would be crying out for Guests...how wrong could we be, every bl**ding room taken up by the Spanish, not an Englishman in site or a room available. So we heads off down to Alicante....only a couple of hotels open and they were fully booked....head back to Jumilla for a cold glass of beer !!!
EVERYWHERE SHUT !!!....and it's blinking New Years Eve !!!
In Jumilla, and much of Spain, they party behind close doors with family and friends and only materialise after the chimes of midnight and the bars open, long after we'd had 4 cans of lager and a pizza in our hotel room and following 4hrs of BBC World Service, we're well to the world in our beds. Not for long, boy do the make a racket, and not just a short burst as the 'romanticism' of New Year to the Spanish is to stay up and celebrate until the first dawn ot the year beckons on the horizon.....then they sing, oh do they sign with all their mights in the streets and down the hotel corridors !!!!
Needless to say, not much sleep but a valuable lesson to learn and training to get into for when we do get over there......so, party at Linda's place next year
