Here’s another novel thought, if some of the judiciary applied the law as the wording and spirit of the law intended, instead of alledgedly bending over backwards to put the interests of the developers first, we would not be in the situation we are today. The developers would know that they would have to keep their promises and fulfil their side of the contract. The irony is, that their ‘protection’ of the developers interests, has only ensured that the property market in Spain has a rotten core, rife with developers only interested in making a quick buck at the expense of the customer.

Why can't some accept that there are people on here that have completed and although unhappy with Calidonas performance have decided to see this out to the end (if it ever gets there) - ' head against brick wall' , ' none so blind as those who cannot see'! comments are not justified, only an opinion.
Simple terms there are people who view the world glass half empty who are happy to moan & feel sorry for themselves and there are people who view the glass half full who dust themselves down after knockbacks (including financial ones) and make the most of things and move on. We clearly have a mix of two camps here so lets accept this without continuing to try and force opinions on each other.
From my life experience (and I am only a young 46!!), those who view half full usually triumph in the end - (even if they don't , they die happy & optimistic!!).
Bracing myself now for even more opinions to be forced on me!!

It would appear that we will have to agree to disagree. Even though we have different opinions, we should not in some way consider our selves enemies, all the best to those who have completed.

heres a thought
according to a post of marias sometime ago , if you wanted to complete but were unhappy about lack of facalaties you were able to prove funds for completion with the notary and agree to complete when the facalaties were in place ( unsure about the time frame ) , this would seem a sensible course of action for those in the " make up my mind when its built camp " and would also give calidona an incentive to provide the facalaties .

Dear p
I am gutted since you accurately pointed out that the non-completers are a 'glass half-empty' brigade. What have I been thinking? I am embarrassed. I hadn't even noticed I had a glass! I have been moaning, you are right, and I apologise. I want to be one of you fellows now if you'll have me. I promise I will abandon my legal action and eat whatever sh*t Calidona feed me from now on. It can't be that hard there are loads of people doing it for goodness sake. I want to 'win in the end or die happy' like you. My fellow pessimists will likely not believe that your insight has converted me but your optimism will ensure that you can see a way to change me. 'Glass half-full' here I come.
Sadly for me my wife is not likely to convert which could make things awkward at home. I have tried to persuade her that in return for losing all prospect of getting our deposit back or the goods we actually paid for she will have; the moral high ground; the right to be patronising and self-congratulatory on a myriad of owners forms; and a glass half full of something or other; but I fear she might be a bit slower 'up top' than me and can't get it. She seems to think our cash or a five star resort is more attractive than a happy death bed. Women! How do you get through to them? She has the audacity to say I am the daft one!

Seems like the most sensible option to those who, as you say, want to complete but are unsure. I am sure those who either didn't see the post or had forgotten about it will appreciate you raising it again.
For a moment there, I really thought we were getting back onto a sensible track!

Hi Anita
Sensible track? We just can't have that. Haven't you heard of gallows humour? We need more of it not less I say.
On this same subject, where is on Earth is The Baron when you need him? Come on Penthouse. You're out there somewhere (roaming Roda incognito no doubt in Clark Kent fashion). This thread is crying out for your witty slant. Get yourself out of that De Vere Hotel and commune with your fellows while we await our happy end.

My property on Roda cost €250,000 + €17,500 tax + €5,000 fees + €10,000 to furnish = €282,500.
I had it valued last week at €150,000, but they said there was no chance of selling it at any price.
The mortgage of €210,000 costs €1,240 per month and it is rented out on a long term let at €450 per month which is the going rate. The community fees are €1,200 per year and look set to double. There is no hotel (and never will be) and the developer is getting out as quickly as possible.
There is no market for holiday lets on Roda - a good facility near the beach and a beach side town. Anyone who thinks they will get any rent worth talking about on a half finished resort in the middle of nowhere is either stupid or dillusional.
I check the sterling rate daily because my mortgage payments are in Euros and if there is another run on sterling I am sunk.
I would like to welcome anyone who completes on Corvera to my world. Get ready to spend the next 10 yrs scrimping to pay a mortgage on a property worth nothing with no rent coming in and with the mortgage getting more expensive by the month due to exchange rates.
Then again, maybe it will be ok, sterling will recover, all the facilities will be built, they will slash the community fees, people will be queing up to rent Spanish appartments, the million empty properties in Spain will all be bought, the half finished developments will be completed, the shut down hotels will reopen, the Spanish national debt will disapear, global warming won't happen and I'll find a golden goose in my underpants.
I am an optmist after all.

Hola A
Welcome to Glass Half-Full. Feels good here doesn't it? I will be sure to look out for you when I am next in the club house at Roda. A man with a golden goose in his underpants should definitely stand out, unless the clientele has changed considerably since my last visit.
Hasta pronto

Thanks AEC for sharing your experience with us, it certainly strikes home the stark reality of the current situation. As Searay has said I hope things improve as, all the best.

Excellent post AEC. I cannot imagine even the 'glass half full' brigade can argue with your concise and depressing account. A reality check for all of us.
(although your final comment had me spilling my coffee all over the keyboard - hilarious)

Sorry Noel, I don't quite follow what you are saying. "When will the penny drop". Please refer to my post below that I said I would not repeat again. When will the so called "penny drop" with all those who keep accusing me of sticking up for Calidonia. I can't say it any clearer than I have already. So please stop bringing my name up, its getting really boring now. Go and attack someone else and stop bathing in the hope of someone else's misery.

Hi . I am in the half full camp,
Picture the scene, on the Computer beer and salted nuts by my side .surfing Corvera and Roda
I added a Post on another tread and had a tiny banter with Steve and Jane ,
I switched to www.calidona.es to see if we had recieved any news about either Resort.
If you go onto the webpage you will see on the left handside it has the 1st heading Calidona and down that coloum is a sub-heading " the Companys in the Group " Please stay with me it gets better , just painting the scene , well take the trouble to go on there and click the Group heading,,,
Under that heading are 5/6 sub-companys One being Calidona Estates. sl,,,,,,,, Just as i was on that page my Spanish wife came home usaul , picked up MY beer and hand full of nuts and says " What u doing " well at this stage I could have been sarkey but valour etc,,, Straight away she points to Calidona Estates and says You can cross them off they folded yesterday !!!!!!
NOW she had my attention WHAT I cry ??? Yep she said they have closed, seems they are closing a lot of companys !!!
The ironic thing this is the Group that is supposed to SELL propertys on both Resorts!!!
Its True they have ,but by our looking at various credit rateing firms it seems the business or lack of has transferd to Calidona Resorts ,,, It would be nice if somebody can confirm this as well.
I dont want to read to much until i can confirm BUT what i do no that a lot of the Directors have been resigning from various Calidona Groups and there other interests
Is this the start of the End ?

Hello campers!
Jored - what you have discovered is correct - all of the businesses that were previously outlined on their website have now been put under the control of Calidona Estates.
http://www.boe.es/diario_borme/txt.php?id=BORME-C-2009-34246
Strange that at the same time the man at the top creates a new (and very similar) company with 67m euros of capital. It seems that for some as one door shuts another one opens..........

My Dear Anita,
When will the penny drop?
When will the penny drop that they are not going to build the facilities, all they want is the monies out of the residential units, and to even suggest that it maybe in some slight way be partly the fault of the non completers is madness.
Does roda golf not give you any clues as to what this company is about, they are well aware that a lot of people are not completing due to lack of facilities, so what have they done in response to reasure us? Nothing, no time table, no reasurances to try and get things back on track, all they have done is threaten us with some tin pot debt collectors, is this the way to treat unhappy customers.
To me this development should have been built pro rata, when we have 50% of residential units we should have 50% of the facilities in place and i dont mean a portacabin!
Anyway Anita i promise you i am not bathing in your misery, we are all in the same boat, but you appear make excuses for these conmen.
love,
Noel.

That's it I'm out of here - for the sake of my sanity if nothing else. I am not stupid, I am not naive but I am sick and tired of certain posters being patronising and condescending, just one example - 'My dear Anita'. If I don't post any more perhaps the name 'Anita' will not be a bashing board for those who want to vent their frustrations. Good luck to everyone - I really hope you all get what you want.
Anita
