Hi everyone,
We got back from spain last night was very pleased with how its come along. We had a very tiring weekend, but managed to get lots done, we were up early monday, getting our nie numbers, saw solicitor to get power of attorney, went to the bank to sort out our account, and most exiting thing was we went to see our appartment, wow. really pleased, it was all finished and looked good. all in one day, not bad eh. We took photos for every one to look at. Hope you will agree, they are really coming along, They were working hard on the pool while we were there. not long now. Weather was not bad, but cool at night.
We also managed to meet lovely couple who also will be our neighbours, hope to meet some more of you soon.
kind regards
Kim and Kevin

Hi Kim and Kevin, yes things are a bit of a rush at the minute. We were there 2wks ago. We will be going back at the end of September and should be able to stay at our apt for the first time. We are in Phase 1 top floor. The builder says the apts are ready now but the solicitor says it will take some months for the paperwork to be dealt with, so he says October but I think things will move before then. We went to Arca to upgrade some of the furniture but did not bother in the end. The builder gives you a voucher for 1,500 euros but if you upgrade you then have to pay the builder 1.500 for your white goods!! So we are having the pack and will upgrade gradually.

Hi Debbie and Nigel. We measured the lounge and bedrooms last time we were there. Living room 16'5"x 9'9", bedroom 1 was 9'10"x 8' and the twin bedroom was 12'9"x 8' they were all good sized rooms but depends were you are on the devlopment as to the size. We have 2 bed 2 bath on the inner top floor number 54.

Hi Brisas buyers
Let me share our experience of room sizes in Mar Y Sol for supposedly identical apartments. Our second bedroom is much smaller than another we compared with, but out kitchen and lounge are bigger. Our en-suite is smaller, but our shower room is bigger.
I think it depends where the builder decides to put the internal walls and whether which way up he's reading the plans!
Also things like where the air-con pipes end. Ours are on our terrace, but someone elses are just outside their patio doors.
There's nothing wrong with ours, or the other apartments. All I am saying is they MAY be slightly different, so don't go buying until you've measured for yourself.
We've been owners at Mar Y Sol just shy of a year now and have no regrets whatsover.
Looking foward to meeting you all. When you're all in, we must arrange a big shindig!!!

Does anyone know if there are any car hire places in either Formentera/Almoradi/Rojales etc. We need a 7 seater?
Any idea on prices?
We are undecided whether to hire at Alicante , dont know if I fancy driving from the airport !
Is it a simple run? We usually fly to Murcia.

the last time we were out ( 2006) we used our sat nav with european maps including Spain. I'm a good map reader but the sat nav beats any road map. If you intend to come over to Spain as often as you can it may be a good idea to purchase one that covers western europe. not only does it assist you from any airport its handy for driving to any where in the costa blanca area.
With regards to car hire get it at the airport. Its cheaper and less hassle. Then sick your new sat nav on your dash and your ready for action. If you look at the travel action line at the top of the page you can access a car hire link. we have used this and to be honest it is the cheapest and is easy to book.
If you need any other advice just drop us a line.

Hi Debbie & Nigel
I concur. It's a relatively easy run. You can check it out on the RAC website before you go and get a printout of the journey if you dont' have satnav.
If you don't hire a vehicle at the airport, how on earth are you going to get from the airport to Formentera? It will cost quite a bit for 7 of you!
Take the plunge!!!!!

Hi Debbie and Nigel we always use auto europe it is very cheap and pick up is inside main car park ground floor, desk is in terminal airport under goldcar. They do however charge you for a full tank unless you have it for 3 days or less, when you can pay for what you use. We go form Alicante to Guardamar on the the N332 then trun off there for Formenterra also a very easy route to follow.

Hi Marie,
We had to go to the police station to get our NIE numbers in Alicante. It is a bit of a performance because you have to get there early, they open at 8.30 in the morning and you have to queue up for them. We got there at 7.am to make sure we were seen quite quickly. You will need to take two passport photos and a copy of your passports,They only do them, Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday and maximum of 50 NIE numbers a day. The agents we used helped us to do this. Are you buying with an agent. It can be a help. They cost us 15 Euros. Which we had to pay in the bank across the road. They issue you with the numbers a couple of days later, which then goes to the solicitor. I hope this imformation will be of help to you.
Kind Regards
Kim and Kevin

Thanks Guys !!
I really appreicate the info - I have just contacted the spanish embassy in Dublin - they say that it will take about 10 mins to process, then about two months wait to get it by post. This seems to be an easy route as the apt is still awhile from finishing!
Kind Regards
Marie
