Hi all, Very interesting. So...If Polaris cant offer us Sky will they allow us to erect dishes? One problem would be the size of the dish. As far as i know it would need to be between 1.8m & 2.4m to get a decent signal. So, I think the answer would be no. But...Polaris could always give us Sky for free?

Hi Don and Kerry - Can't make out if they will be able to offer us Sky at all - The following is another thread by the same person but on another PW site, same forum. I don't know if it's someone with a grudge to bear or if they are buying a Polaris property, from the first post it seems they work for Sky - Am going to ask them question on the other forum-- warning to anyone thinking of paying the 400 euro box+100 euro connection fee + 18 euros a month for sky tv.that polaris/surprus 7 are offering. dont be taken in by this offer, they will not be showing sky for much longer,there doing it illegally and sky are aware & in the process of shutting them down. contact sky on 08702404040 for confirmation sorry to be bearer of bad news, it really annoys me that they,ll take your hard earned for what basiclly is a scam....

I have posted a question for him, asking how he knows this and also why he's edited his other posts. Don't hold out much hope in him replying, at this stage I think it may be best to ignore it cos he may be a nutter - Don't know if it's worth asking PW about it - Never get a reply from them either, well not often lol

I don't know if this information helps, but the rebroadcasting company Telemicro has been closed down all over Spain.  Their service known as 'rebroadcasting' was actually illegal (well rebroadcasting Sky channels was). 

How it works is they would download the signals from Sky and other satellites and then re-broadcast them across the airwaves.  This is where you see all these sort of mesh arials all over Spain.

As for polaris world I can't say. If they simply rebroadcast the signal to each apartment  then I suppose they're not breaking any laws.  You might be breaking the law with your decoder if you are watching Sky (although free-to-sat channels would be ok I suppose).  If they are using Telemicro then I'm afraid your s%$*!"d.

The thing is, Sky is supposed to be for UK and surrounding areas only, which is why you would need to register your card at a UK address before it would work in Spain.  If you are in Spain and you phone Sky to tell them you have a problem then you can expect a knock on the door from the policia....  only joking, but you know what I'm trying to say.

I would speak with PW and ask before going any further.

PW have killed the SKY broadcast if you were using your own SKY box and card as well.

The solution that is being mooted now is via a company called supris 7 - Not sure why they would be legal or allowed to broadcast and no-one else is.  For how long I'm not sure but if you take the old box you had to them, trade it in and pay a bit more, I think the total is 354€, they will get you British Tv and SKY plus 18€ per month subscription.  But as many people have found out in the past year, they could be gone tomorrow and after spending (another?) 354€ you have no recourse.

Hi Redman and batfink - Thanks for the info - I had read about Telemicro being closed down by the guardia ( General Forum ) - Batifink is supris 7 what PW is using? If not do you know what they use? The guy on the other forum says they are using Sky but not for much longer because it's illegal

PW have stopped SKY transmissions into property (but still show it in the bars).  Supris 07 is the community lead choice right now - but that's not to say it's legal or will last.  PW are not using supris 7 - PW do not provide SKY into properties.

Is that the same as eurosat which you can apparently(not sure about spain) get it built in the tv like our freeview.
