Hi everyone,

We have just returned from another week on Veranda and overall still very happy with it.

One small bone of contention with us is that the sign at the pool stipulates that it will only be open from May to September which after speaking to people on the other developments this is indeed the case.  I understand that the water may be colder outwith these months but as we have to base our main  holidays around School we usually take 2 weeks at Easter, 2 weeks in Summer and 2 weeks in October.  This would mean that we would only get to use the pool for 2 weeks out of all our holidays.  I presume that everyone on the other developments is quite happy with this but as they have indoor heated pools then I can understand why.  We on the other hand don't have that luxury.  My thought is that  Keymare nor the Administrator should be in a position to dictate when we can use our own pool.  Surely it is up to us to decide if we wish to take a dip in a cold pool or not!  Although I can understand that maybe some months are of no use as it really would be too cold I do feel that 5 months is a very short time and this should be extended.  We don't have a problem with scaling the 4ft fence outwith the months but as it wouldn't have been cleaned it wouldn't be the best idea!

Anyone else got any thoughts I would love to hear

Helen

Hi Helen, I would totally agree with you about the pool. We also would be working around school holidays so had imagined that pool would be open until at least the end of the season, which I think would be April to end of October?? I would hope that the weather would be mild enough in october for a swim, and any children out there for midterm break would be very disappointed.
I am presuming that KM have made this decision in the interm until our community is set up and that maybe then we can arrange for extended opening of pool.
If anyone has suggestions from Thalassa or elsewhere please let us know.
Tricia

Same here!
I was also concerned to see the notice re the swimming pool openings as although we are no longer governed by school holidays, we prefer to take holidays earlier and later in the season.  But I  wondered if once the community was up and running we might be able to negotiate on this.   I understand that there are obviously cost implications re. pool maintainence, so we need to be realistic about it ie. it's probably not going to be cost effective to have the pool open if there's going to be no-one wanting to use it, but even April -October would be an improvement.  I'm sure if enough of us on the community want this then surely it will be up to us as owners, as we will ultimately be the ones paying to have the pool cleaned etc.
The other side of the coin is that when I was there in July my friend was really looking forward to using the jacuzzi (she's led a very sheltered life!) and was very disappointed to find that it wasn't in use.  I thought perhaps it was just because everything was still new and this was just something that wasn't quite 'up & running'  yet.  But on speaking to another owner, I got the impression that the plan was that it would be either one or the other - that is - the pool would open in the warmer months and the jacuzzi in the colder months.  Surely this doesn't really make a lot of sense and I for one would like to see ALL the facilities avaiable ALL the time - I don't know if anyone else feels the same.

I agree April to October would maybe be better and agree that we don't want to pay for pool maintanence for the real winter months when it really wont be used.

I contacted the Administrator when we were there at the beginning of July and apparently the Jacuzzi has no water in it because of Health & Safety.  Not quite sure what than entails but I am a little disappointed that even after we have moaned and we have now been back again it still hasn't been filled and so many people have completed now.  Before we complained the showers weren't in use either which they did sort and they have now put a man on the gate.

Best Wishes

Helen

Maybe these are just things that will get sorted in time,  but it's up to us to make sure that they are done sooner rather than later.

I totally agree with what you both have said, and hopefully with time and experience all will fall into place. But I would think that the pool times need to be extented, otherwise there will be a lot of disappointed children on their easter, and october mid term break!!! We only have 11 days left till we visit again, we are really looking forward to it, hopefully all will be well on arrival.

Just thought I'd pipe up, and agree that something needs to be done with the Jacuzzi and the swimming pool opening times.  Until we get a commitee, do we put the points to KM??  Is it best for us (individually or as a group) to chase up with Gema etc?
All the best!!

I am quite happy to get in touch with Gemma in the first instance on everyones behalf and see what response I get if that's what everyone wants.  If I don't get anywhere and KM are not willing to sort these issues then maybe at that point we could all get onto them?  After all I think we are the closest thing to a committee we have at the minute!!

Let me know your thoughts

Helen

Hi folks,

Just thought I'd update you so far.  I contacted Gemma and she said the times of the pool and the Jacuzzi etc was down to the Administrator and not Keymare.  So I contacted the Administrator who  said it was down to Keymare.  The email I received from the Aministrator is below which I have also forwarded back to Gemma and I'm waiting for her reply.  I've asked the Administrator what date the supposed meeting is but she has no date yet but we will all get an invite by post. I presume we can vote by proxy?  I really want the pool open this October and for the future I would like the jacuzzi available all year not one or the other which is what it sounds like for the moment.  This is maybe just temporary while KM are dealing with the community fees. I shall keep you updated.

***********************************************************************************************************
Dear Mrs Morris:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Regarding the the opening time of the pool, we have not the authority to extend the period. This has to be decided in the meeting. Actually is it still the developper who is running with all community fees and who has decided all these details. In September will be a meeting, where every owner will be invited. Then can be this point discussed and therefore the owners have to decide. If the mayority is agree than is it not a problem.

Regarding the jacuzzi, have we more or less the same situation. As the developper is still running with the fees he has decided not to fill the jacuzzi yet, as the people will use more the outside pool, now in the summer. From september ( after the meeting) will be the jacuzzi filled, the same with the Steam Room.

We will get the weights for the weight machine sorted out, this should be working.

I hope I could answer your doubts. In any case please do not hesitate to contact us, if you have further questions.

Regards,

Ana González

Thats great Helen, thank you for contacting both KM and the administrator.
So looks like it will be up to us the owners from Sept what opening periods will be. Account will have to be taken of the extra running costs etc, but that can all be discussed at the meeting. Do we have any idea of what our monthly community fees will be?  I wonder how many units have not been sold on complex yet, as I am sure that will affect the amount of community fee we will have to pay.
Thanks again.
Tricia

No Problem Tricia.  Gemma may be able to shed a little more light on what the fees are likely to be and if the unsold properties effect us or not.  I hope not after all it's not our fault they arn't sold!  I don't imagine extending the pool by 2 or 3 months will make alot of difference to the fees but I presume all will have to be agreed at the meeting and we will find a little more out.  With any luck us ladies will be the only ones to vote which will ensure a majority and the pool will be open!!

I like your attitude Helen!!!! But lets hope we are not the only ones to take an interest in developing the community and the complex for ourselves and all visitors. I will email Gema and enquire about the fees. Thanks again.

Well done Helen for getting 'on the case'.  It really sounds as if these things are probably  just 'teething troubles' and once the community is up and running will be sorted.  I'm sure we will all be interested to find out what we are likely to be paying in fees.
We are planning to be out there in September, so hopefully we will be able to  attend the meeting, depending when it is.

Hi Pauline.  I'm sure your right and everything will be sorted eventually.  It will be good if you will be able to go to the meeting in September and for us that probably wont be able to attend we can at least have someone there who can report back or vote on our behalf.

Take Care

Helen

Hi All!
In respect to the community fees - I remember a conversation with Roger (ex-Keymare) about the community fees and what impact unsold units would have on the fees, and he indicated that the developer would have to subsidise the unsold units.
I remember figures of Euro50-60 per month being mentioned - however, I'm with all of you - it would be great to get this clarified etc.
Thanks for your work Helen!
Hope to see some of you around in August and October.
Cheers
Shirley

Hi everyone.
What's this about Roger?  He was so helpful every time we met him.  Has he moved on to 'pastures new'?
