Hi everyone.
I have now had email responses from Gema of KM and Ana who has been appointed as adminstrator, both of which were encouraging and left me feeling that Veranda is going to be a 'good place to be'. As yet, we don't know the exact date of the 1st community meeting but it is likely to be September.
What we do need to do is to ensure that any items we wish to discuss/vote on are notified in advance for inclusion on the agenda. As far as I can make out, the issue of 'pool & spa/jacuzzi opening times' is now on the agenda. So that's good.
In a PM someone has also mentioned to me about dogs being allowed into the pool enclosure and (if I've got this right) even in the pool. I'm not suggesting we debate this now, but perhaps this should be another item for the agenda under 'health & safety'. I have a feeling that the notice board at the entry to the pool area already indicates 'no dogs' in which case it will just be a case of drawing people's attention to it or reminding them.
Another thing I think we need to do is actually put together some proposals, so that we are quite specific about what we want to happen andrso that people can vote on it. Otherwise you just end up with a lot of talk and no action, with things being carried forward to a future meeting. The fact that so many of us are already in contact be email is great and I'm wondering if we should start a new thread entitled 'Agenda' and /or 'Proposals'. That way we might be able to get some of the ground work done in advance of the meeting.
(For something that is supposed to be primarily for rest & relaxation, this is turning into quite a bit of work! Hope it's not always going to be like this)
Best wishes,
Pauline

Hi all, just want to confirm what Pauline has allready said.
I have also received similar replies from KM and the management company, so looks like all our efforts are being noticed and attention is being paid to our concerns.
I would have to say, I would be horrified to have dogs swimming in the pool or even in the pool area, with young children crawling around etc., not that I have anything against dogs but.... Anywhere we have ever been has had a 'no dogs allowed' sign at the pool area. But we need to make sure. I will check what sign says over the next few days.
And yes if anyone has other concerns or issues start a thread as Pauline has suggested for proposals for agenda of first community meeting.
Great to have so many on board, and please as all are visiting encourage other owners to get involved with the forum and express their opinions.
Thanks again to all for getting involved.
Am now looking forward to staying on Veranda for the next week, we are in block 5 down near the pool, myself, Anto (the husband) and Ciaran (the child, age 10)!!! So if anyone around please seek us out and say HELLO, would love to meet up and have a chat.
Tricia

Hi
I too have had the same replys from Keymare and the Administrator and Pauline and Tricia and myself are in contact regularly about this pool issue.
With regards to dogs at the pool, the sign does stipulate "no dogs" and I agree that this should be adhered too. I am an animal lover but I would never inflict my dog into a pool area especially with children and definately not in the pool. Infact, in the rules and regulations that are in the Keymare pack it stipulates that any dogs must be taken outside of the complex to allow them to relieve themselves and must not be allowed to do this anywhere on the complex nevermind letting them into a pool area. While we were there a dog went into the pool area and urinated on the grass. My children are in there with bare feet etc and people are sunbathing lying on the grass. Not good!

Hi everyone,
just wondering where you came about the information on the pool and spa opening times as I have read the keymare pack from back to front and nowhere does it mention times for the opening of the pool and spa also where did the info come from for the first community meeting ie possibility of it being september, there are about thirty unsold units on veranda so I would have thought more would have to be sold before this can be called as decisions would be made without potential buyers having a say, please could sombody clear this up for me

Hi there,
The pool opening times were brought to our attention because it is clearly stipulated on the sign at the pool." open May to September". I heard but can't confirm that the plan was then to only open the Jacuzzi etc when the pool is shut. A number of us then went onto check with the Administrator and Keymare who confirmed that this is indeed the case which is why we are having to try and get it sorted. I can't speak for everyone but all the people we have spoken to were not aware that the pool or spa was not going to be available 365 days a year. As you have said, there maybe 30 unsold units but there are 76 sold units and the owners of those 76 have to set up a community to sort things like this out. We can hardly be expected to wait for the rest of the units to be sold before being allowed to make decisions. If a buyer purchases a property in the future and disagrees with any of the decisions already in place it then has to be brought up at the meetings for discussion. Nowhere on any paperwork from the brochure to signing the initial contract and then finally signing the deeds does it mention that the pool and spa would not be available all year and the decision to only have the pool open from May to September has been made by Keymare. I believe that as the majority of properties are sold then there now has to be a community set up as the owners will be responsible for paying the community fee. So it is up to the community to pay for what they want not what Keymare want. Decisions have already been made by Keymare so future buyers are only going to be in the same position we are in now!
Hope this clears things up a little.

Hi Helen,
thanks for clearing the point up about opening times for the pool and spa, we only just returned from veranda last week and didn`t see the sign about opening times. I do agree that the pool and spa should be available to everybody all year around and hope that this is a point we will be able to get across when the first community meeting is called, whenever that will be , the first one on thallassa wasn`t called for months after completion. Anybody heard when this is likely to be, we won`t be out again untill half term which is end of Oct, hope we can also convince the Spanish owners to agree to all year round opening, have been told that there is more spanish than british owners, hope we can convince them when the time comes
all the best everyone

Hi everyone.
Hope you are all fine. Unfortunately it is raining here in Wales on this Bank Holiday Monday!!!!!!! Not much new there!
Just to join in the conversation - Yes, it does indeed state on the board by the pool entrance at Veranda that the pool will be open from May - September, but I'm not actually sure about the bit concerning the spa etc. - that might be just 'hear say' though it wasn't open when I was out there in July and I think I read someone's posting who said it wasn't open earlier this month either - but that could just be because its early days - after all, the development wasn't actually meant to be completed until September.
With regard to the rest of the apartments being sold, unfortunately with the present economic climate that might not happen for some time. In the meantime, those of us who have already purchased will still be required to pay our community charges. Realistically, I think we do have to start discussing these issues and making some decisions. Its great that so many people are joining in the discussions, at least then we are getting a cross-section of views and each person can add a new perspective, maybe thinking of something that has been over-looked.
Best wishes,
Pauline

This may already have been posted. The pool apparently requires a lifeguard if it is more than 1.45m deep. spog.org/Living_In_Spain_Guide/communities.php
can't put the complete address as I haven't posted 10 messages yet.
Does anyone know how deep our pool is?

Other sites however do state surface areas greater than 200m2. Hopefully this will mean that we will not require one, as it is very costly and seems to therefore have an effect of greatly decreasing the possible opening hours.

Sorry Maud, cant help you there. Maybe Gema @KM office would know, I also have seen surface area mentioned but not the depth. Fingers crossed we will not require lifeguard. It was fine there last week and the pool was being well used by all on the complex and not a life guard in sight.

Hi everyone,
I have just received an email from the Administrator stating that the pool times can't be sorted before the meeting and the meeting has now been moved to October.
Fo all of us planning a visit to our apartments in October and are planning on using our own pool may I suggest that you contact Keymare and the Administrator stating that you insist that "our pool" remains open throughout October and definately not closed middle/end September. We only have a few weeks to sort this and the more people that contact them the more chance we stand of getting our pool in October.
Best Wishes
Helen
