Hi There
Ive contacted PW Customer Service and they said that they see no reason why the Clover and Restaurants wont be open on Christmas Day, especially as the Spanish celebrate Christmas after the 25 December.
We are out from 26 Dec to the 3 Jan, and we will be packing a Christmas tree.

Christmas is very quiet for the Spanish, you will probably need to go to the bars on Camposol or down to the Port for entertainment. There are lots of English restaurants/bars promoting their Christmas Day lunches but they are all a little pricey. The Wok Buffet in the Port is good for Christmas Day as they don't put their price up, if you want a traditional English dinner then you will have to pay the premium price.
We have a house on Camposol and an apartment on Condado but I have to say I find the prices on CdA a little high so will spend our time at Camposol, plus that's where Father Christmas will be delivering. We have two young girls so don't go to the bars/restaurants on Camposol in the evening so can't say what they are like - the only one we do visit is Mariano's which is a typical Spanish restaurant (A Sector next to Campsol Business Centre), great for tapas and the menu del noche is really good value at 12 Euros. The a la carte menu is also not bad - lovely restaurant but sometimes the service is a little slow (as most Spanish places can be). There will be carol singers on Camposol, organised by the Residents Assoc, I believe 21st and 24th Dec as my girls will be taking part with the local Guides/Scouts (Murcia Sur).
The weather is usually lovely (in comparison with the UK). We had beautiful sunny skies last year on Christmas Day, a little chilly later in the day and evenings so you will need some form of heating.
January 6th (Three Kings Day) is the biggest festival over the Christmas/New Year period and this is when the Spanish celebrate. Last year we went down to the Port with hundreds of other people to watch the Three Kings arrive at the marina, mount their horses and parade through the Port to the towns gardens. There are usually a few floats following, included a massive nativiy scene, and the most important float of all the one filled with toys and sweets which are thrown out to all the children who follow with gusto catching whatever they can. We sent my husband into the crowd of followers last year to get pressies for our children as it can get a little rough with all those kids! But it's great fun. After that we usually stop and have a coffee/brandy then make our way home to have our own Turkey dinner.
You can go online to the Camposol Residents Association to see if the times of carol singers etc are on http://www.cracamposol.com/ and the other good website to check is the Simply Networking social site. Once you register they will send you a weekly events schedule so you can see what's going on in the Murcia area, www.simplynetworking.es

Hi Barbara
Thank you for the information. Do you know if the restaurant will be open on New Years Day and will it be the usual menu? The menu for New Years Eve looks interesting. Wonder if they will take the discount card that night?
In answer to your "Lucky Grapes" query, It is traditional in Spain for everyone to have 12 grapes, and when the final bells toll, you eat one for every toll. I think it's something to do with bringing luck for the vineyards.

As far as I am aware it is business as usual in all of the bars, restaurants as in spain they celebrate christmas on 24th evening and then on 6th January.
The barman in the clover says they will be open as usual. I dont know if the discount card will be able to be used for the new years menu as I forgot to ask.
hope this helps Barbara

Found a photo on T&J's web site that was a pic of the main doors of the supermarket with a sign saying 10-2pm Sundays and Bank Holidays otherwise usual opening hours. Although that was taken some time ago we expect it to be fairly accurate. We visited last Christmas and the supermarkets on Camposol were open those sort of hours
