It has been until now but the new Modelo 210 will not accept it!

A friend of mine kept getting the error message until he used Chrome instead of Internet Explorer and then it worked! Try a different browser, I suspect it would work in Firefox as well.

Norm, maybe a daft question, but I hope you're leaving the dashes out when you type in the NIE. My OH has recently done ours & had no problem.

No dashes in NIE/F. Tried both IE and Firefox. I'll try Chrome.

Now managed to do it - with Chrome! Bit embarrassing as I was responsible for getting the requirement for a Fiscal Representative removed some years ago. Nearly had to resort to one. Thanks everybody.

Hi
Having once again been charged twice the actual tax for doing our return for 2011, I have decided never again.
I have looked at this thread (and indeed other threads on other sites) and been totally confused. However one link sent me to:
https://www2.agenciatributaria.gob.es/es13/h/ie02100b.html?idi=En
As I see it I ask my present rep for a copy of the 2011 forms to help me.
Then (for 2012) I fill in the above online, one each for my wife and myself.
Print them.
Take them to the bank and pay.
Would some kind soul confirm I have it? and also tell me where I can get the paper version should this fail.
Thanks
Ted

Pretty sure you can only get the form online but with perserverance and hair pulling it is possible to work it out if you follow the examples in the instructions. You have until 31st Dec to pay it!

The problems in generating the Tax pdf form online are usually due to a "glitch" in the user's computer - pdf files are normally handled by Adobe Reader software which is now usually installed on all computers by default and is available for download free at the Adobe website if it is not present on the computer. However as with all software, Adobe is constantly updating the version that is current so an old version may or may not cause a problem. As well, the Reader software needs to interface correctly with the Browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox Safari etc in order to generate the form and sometimes this is where the process fails with an undecipherable error code. Of course it also helps to have the various boxes in the form filled correctly. For various reasons therefore it is difficult to pinpoint precisely what is causing the error. In my own case I don't use Adobe Reader for handling pdf files - I use Foxit Reader on my Windows 7 computer and it has never failed to open pdf files for me, however when I tried the tax form the process failed with an error code! I switched to my Windows XP system which uses Adobe Reader & voila, the form generated correctly.

Yes I spent hours tryng to complete the form unsuccessfully on my pc using Internet Explorer. As soon as I changed to my net book using Google Chrome it worked first time.
I couldn't find my way to the form through the Tax Office site, don't know why, so had to use the link posted on this site.

When we took the completed forms to our bank we found we still needed the labels we had left over from previous years as they showed more ID information than just our NIE number. Not sure what happens if you don't have these.

Looks like banks are making their own rules! Our bank La Caixa "said the hacienda told them not to accept cash" but we took the forms into Santander and paid no problem. We did not need the labels as all the info is on the form if it got to the bit of "validate and generate pdf". In the bit for other identity I use our National Insurance numbers and have never had a problem. Chrome is definitely the way to go though!

Is the tax calculated at 2% or 1.1%.

If the property has been revalued since 1994, 1.1%. Otherwise 2%. Your IBI demand will tell you.

Mary:- In the bit for other identity I use our National Insurance numbers and have never had a problem
The Hacienda do not check the vast majority of Returns so the fact that they have not questioned the use of a National Insurance Number as ID, is no assurance that the number can be used.
I would think that only the NIE is acceptable, as that is the number which gives Hacienda access to all bank accounts etc. I would recommend that the NIE is used.

The NIE goes in as well but there is a bit on the form which asks for identity in your own country, that is where I put the NI number.

Mary,
I have just looked at the copies of the returns, which I have completed and subitted for my son and duaghter-in-law, over the years, but I can not see where you mean.
The only other ID would seem to be that of your representative, if you had one, but as you completed the form yourself, that would seem unlikely.

Do you mean the Tax Identification Number in the country of residence? This should be your Inland Revenue reference. not your NI number.

Norm,
nothing that I can see on the form about any numbers from the UK, unless they have added it this year.
