Tricia - why not get help from one of the professionals. We let Spanish Tax Forms do ours - they charge £25 or so for the 2 of us and we never have any hassle. Inially there were a couple of queries and the advice from John was superb - I recommend these people, you cannot hope for a better personal service.

We are having problems validating the online for after we have filled it in. Keep getting 'error 0201'. I have still printed it off but can I take this to the bank to pay if it has not been validated?

Try Chrome - it seems to work on that. I doubt if the bank will be able to accept unvalidated forms, as AEAT will not have the information they need, but you can always try.

Is is only when the form is validated that a reference number 'numero de justificante' is issued at the top of the form. This needs to be entered by the bank when you make payment.

In answer to Tricia's query, the NIF for UK non residents is actually the NIE number - they are both the same thing. I have come across some people with an 0 after their initial Y or X on the NIE/NIF and by removing that it gives you the correct amount of characters

I was issued with a new NIF this year, for which I had to enter my NIE - M1234567V for me and M1234567H for my wife.

Hi, just joined the forum and wanted to say thanks to all those who have provided useful info on this topic. I've just successfully been online and completed our 'new style' 210 form for 2011, payable by 31st Dec 2012. Opted to go for the printed PDF version which I will post to our spanish bank with a letter asking them to do a transfer from our account. Next year I might look into doing the whole thing online using digital certificates etc...seems a bit complicated for now.
I found it useful to compare the english and spanish forms and instructions (unfortunately can't include links but most of them are linked earlier in this thread and all are available on the aeat dot es website if you look hard enough!). As johnwm said earlier, the layout looks neater on the spanish generated PDF. You can complete the english version, save it and then reimport the data into the spanish version if you like.
Unlike others on this thread, I couldn't get the PDF to generate properly using Chrome - kept getting 0115 error. It said I needed Java Virtual Machine and directed me to the Java site, but I wasn't clear on what I needed to download. I tried Internet Explorer instead and after installing a small ActiveX file, it all worked fine. I'm using Windows XP, Adobe Reader X, AVG Anti-Virus Free 2013, Internet Explorer 6(!) and Chrome v22.0.1229.94m.
One final thing, the print quality of the barcodes seems much worse than in previous years... I'm using the same printer, has anyone else found this?

Almost there!!! Find comments on this thread really helpful. One last thing, if anyone can help. I have never received an actual IBI bill. We set up a direct debit at the begining and the IBI comes out of our bank every year. How do we know what the Valor Castaral is, and is there any way of working it out from the charges of the IBI on our bank statement.

You should get the info from your bank. The confirmation that the IBI etc has been paid. If you are not in Spain, maybe you could call your bank and they could tell you, of if you have on-line banking again you should be able to see the confirmation slip.

We bank with La Caixa and pay our IBI by direct debit. I get our valor catastral from the pdf of the bill from the local authority. Not easy to see but it is there

I can see the confirmation that the IBI was paid in July and how much but there is nothing to tell me Valor Catastral. I have found the first IBI we had in 2007 before we set up the direct debit,( valor catastral 26676,42 and IBI 187.56) but I imagine that will have changed over the years. Is there any way of working it out from the IBI which this year was 246,68

Just one point.
One pays using either the Valor Catastral or the declared purchase price, which ever is the highest.-
My son bought a property in 1992, the price we paid is still higher than the Valor Catastral. Thus what he pays is based on the price the contract shows he paid, not the Valor Catastral

You can find the valor catastral of any property by going to www.sedecatastro.gob.es
You'll need to know a bit of Spanish to do it. You just enter your reference number and/or address.

Thanks Norm but apparently I need a digital signature to access the info, how do I get one?

Digital signature is obtained by going to your local tax office.

You can do it without an electronic signature by going into "acceso libre". I've done it.

At long last I have finally managed to submit my form 210 on line. But I am still confused, can anyone advise?
PDF form printed off, so have 3 documents (and 2 with further instructions) with details of house, nie and amounts to be paid for each owner. When filling out the form I did submit our bank details. Does this mean the money will be stopped out of our account automatically or do I have to submit forms to the bank?
Tricia

I believe if you do not have a digital signature then you must go to your bank. I would suggest you call the bank and ask them.
