9am this morning and there are 3 guys laying out the cable for the power supply. I don't want to get anybodies hopes up but is this the start of things to come????

Just after that the boss came over to us in Manzana 1 to ask if he could come in to start filling the cracks in the outside walls. They are coming back tomorrow as we are out today to do the work. Will keep you all posted.

Fingers crossed

Best regards Sicknote

Good work Mobailey

Is it possible to get the informer on line?

If Taray do make a comment I bet they will blame it all on the local council and  how they build first class houses, every one who has purchased on SC has made an excellent choice. But nothing about their lies and delays.

Cheers

Hi Gang,

Just got back from a lovely day out at the La Torre hotel which has an excellent swimming pool but at a price, 10 euros per adult and 5 euros for kids. I am going to ask Taray to compensate us just for a laugh.

From our vantage point overlooking the pool area there are men marking out the ground and electric cabling has been run around the perimeter. Lets hope that this really the start of the promised work.

MACHINES, MACHINES! We need machines on site. Bodies are two-a-penny, machines cost money and constitute commitment. Excuse my negativity, but I've heard all this crap before.

Strewth - I am only too pleased that people living in San Cayetano are keeping us informed what is going on there.  You are obviously a "half glass empty" person.  I, on the other hand, am a "half glass full" person.  Any activity on the site pleases me so thank you Anita and Steve for letting us know.  Machinery would be better I agree, but surely the "spade work" needs to be carried out first?

Pinot,

I totally agree with you and as for Strewth, your dreams must have come true as at 5pm the first digger started digging the foundations for some sort of building. Come on, I know we have all been totally fed up with waiting but let's rejoice that hopefully the work has started at long last.

In the meantime, I have just received a reply to an e-mail I sent my solicitors at La Manga Club (MSB) 6 weeks ago saying they are contacting Taray on my behalf and trying to seek some form of compensation but don't hold your breath on that one. I will keep you all posted as to what they say.

I would upload some photos of the site but my internet connection is so slow it times out before uploading the bloody photo.

Chins up maybe one day we can all sit around the pool and have a laugh and a beer about all this.

Sicknote.

This is great news and thanks for passing it on!  Let's hope they now continue to work on the site and don't just go away and forget all about it for another few weeks.

Sometimes it pays to be an optimist!

Pinot,

I've tried very hard to be optimistic, believe me, but three and a half years of lies tends to make a person less so. I'd love for the pool to be built but I don't somehow think you've been waiting as long me for it. I really hope this is a constuctive start but I won't be holding my breath.

Strewth, If it was a one week delay i would say you were a whinging git but a 3 1/2 year delay I would say you have a every right to be negative. some people do not seem to mind the abuse of being lied to after handing over huge sums of money whilst others get angry. Personally I do not enjoy being lied to especially when i have made a large purchase in the shape of a house. I would never accept such treatment here in the UK so why should I accept it there?

If work is starting that is great but like you heard it all before.

Sisky,

Bit less of the whinging if you don't mind. I'm o.k. with git. To be perfectly correct the pool complex is one year behind schedule, (it should have been completed by Summer `08), and I  was told this back in Jan. `06 when I bought off plan. You're right, we wouldn't stand for this in the U.K.but until we get some legal clout behind us old man Taray has us by the cojones. Welcome to Espanyol !!!!

Dull, it isn't.

La whinger.

I'm not defending Taray in any way or form but the land they are now digging on belongs to the council. I also bought over 3 years ago and have at times been very angry with Taray but I now believe they have been telling us the truth albeit in a spanish roundabout way.

Anybody in the UK who has been involved with a building project will understand the crazzy way councils go about giving out planning permission. It can involve redrawn plans time and time again until the council are happy and even then it takes ages.

This is the reason Taray were able to build pools on the land by the flats and on Phase 2 as Taray own that land (so I am told) therefore they don't have to go through the ridiculous process involving the council.

Let's rejoice, an even bigger digger is out again this morning and earth is being dug.

Instead of all the bad comments why don't we channel our efforts into trying to get some form of compensation from Taray for the delay which by the time the project is finished I think will be atleast 18 months behind what we were all told.

Finally, remember, Taray probably look at this website everyday like we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sicknote,

You don't think Taray should have secured that piece of land before making promises then?

Yes of course they should have and probably did so.

I have been informed by a friend who has lived in Spain for many years that when a developer like Taray buys a large chunk of land from the council, as here in San Cayetano, they have to give the council back 20% of the land once the houses are built and I suspect that has happened in our case.

There is also another crazy spanish law that says a town cannot have 2 community swimming pools so I think you will find that once ours is finally built, Taray will fill in the public pool and build on that as well. I know it sounds stupid and crazy but remember this is Spain and not the UK.

As I said before, the holes in the ground are getting deeper and bigger by the hour, so let's just rejoice and hope it all gets finished as soon as is possible.

This is great news from the site. Thank you to those of you there posting the updates and I hope you will continue doing that.

I have not believed much that Iv been told by Taray and when I was there in July I was told they were waiting on machinery arriving on site. I thought that with construction at a standstill throughout Europe procuring some diggers should be fairly easy! I was also told that the leisure facilities would be complete in full (not pool first) by Xmas. This may now all appear to be true.

Time will tell but it does seem to be a huge step in the right direction.
