I thought i would take a minute out of my day to get  an accurate update, so went and asked one of the builders exactly what they were doing. I got a very unexpected reply but it went a little bit like this (click below)

Ha ha.........just having a little relax after the crazy foam fiesta last night, it was soooooo funny. then woke up early this morning to the sound of diggers thumping the ground for what maybe our swimming pool........ who knows! Im not getting hopes up just gonna ride the waves and see what happens!!! Meanwhile im enjoying the village pool which is awesome and also the aprtments pool altho was a little dirty the other day and saw a little frog swimming on the top.

A note to people using the aprtments pool,.. us english are getting a bad reputation with the spanish because many are not showering before entering the tiny busy pool and quite frankly its pissing some of the spanish off. Its written in the rules which is on the gate to please shower first!

ok strewthster, c u soon!

The news of all the activity on the building of the pool and leisure centre is great!

Many thanks to all of you who have helped bring this about - eventually we must  have an "opening ceremony" (I told you I was an optimist) at which we can enjoy the new facilities, have a drink and meet at long last the people we have been conversing with on EOS.  It has been a long time coming but now it appears we have a light at the end of the tunnel.  Yippee!!!

No diggers, no trucks and no activity on the pool site today. Probably wont see them again for another 3 months.

Steve and Anita - many thanks for the update regarding the pool etc.

That has certainly "burst my bubble"!!!  Had been so pleased with the news until then.  Just hope you are wrong and that they do resume the work soon.  Manana would do!!!

Men with white hats at the pool area today marking out what I think is going to be the pipework inside the dug out ground.

Give the guys a chance. I know we are all desperate for the work to be finished but just because they don't show for a few days doesn't mean the work has stopped for 3 months!!!!!!!!

I was suprised that they even started in August this being the shut down period in Spain because it's so hot. Working in 35 deg C must be bloody hard going.

Latest Update

More digging and muck shifting this week and now we have concrete poured into the foundations for the buildings.

There seems to be activity on site every day at the moment.

Hallam - Fantastic news and many thanks for keeping us all in the picture. Especially those of us who are in the UK.  I am coming out on 5th September so will be able to see the new site for myself.  Can hardly wait!

Just uploaded the photos I took of the pool complex plus one of the board showing the layout of the buildings and pool etc.

Work started on the 5th August and when we left on the 24th the footings were nearly ready to be filled in with more concrete to ground level.

I think (hope) that once the footings are complete, work will progress quite quickly as all the scaffolding is on site to start the walls etc. Then they will probably start digging for pool (again I hope). Personally if the site is finished for Easter next year I will be well chuffed but talking to the boss of the firm that's doing the work, he reckoned on Christmas for completion!!!!!!!! which would be great for all those living in San Cayetano.
