In response to Steve and Jane's Comment: I was on my way back from Calpe a couple of days and the person driving me back said he was in charge of the rentals department for Corvera. He said 1) That he had been informed by Corvera that the building licence had been granted - although he did not have any written proof of this. We both agreed that this statement was not worth the paper it was written on. 2) He was unaware of the PGA status or that there was a planned hotel on the site. He shrugged that one off as 'not his department'. 3) We also discussed the 'independent' status of MRI recommended solicitors - it just then got plain embarrassing. He seemed a genuinely nice chap though - It all contributed to a very entertaining ride indeed.
The issue is probably not one of lack of communication, but one of incompetence.

Hello all,
I have been in coresponence with Calidona/Corvera regarding the delays and received the reply below.
"I wish to apologise for any ill feelings that you have regarding Calidona. We have always been upfront regarding dates and if they have not been met it has been for reasons out of our control."
"we are a company that tries to be customer orientated and I apologise if you feel we have failed in your case. It is not our intention."
"If you wish I can send our legal documentation regarding licenses to your lawyer who could see that we are not hiding anything and that in fact the situation is as we are relating it. AND IT IS DOWN TO THE BACKLOG AT THE TOWNHALL. this is not an excuse but a reason."
Not much different from other members experiences except perhaps the paperwork / solicitor aspect!

Forgot to mention in the last post that when we were ot Corvera on 27th of August, we were told that as Phases 1 & 2 are being built at the same time, then the golf course will not be ready when the first occupants take up residence, but they can use Roda.

Please, Please, Please ask that the legal documentation they are offering is sent to your solicitor - I wouldn't mind a copy being sent to me! Speaking to my 'independent' spanish solicitor recently, he commented that until recently him and other solicitors did not believe what Calidonia were saying as they always seemed shifty. Recently they saw documentation that had a broken seal on it (whatever that means) and they were reassured! Obviously, too difficult/lazy to check with the town hall themselves - maybe its a language problem. I was also told that the license for the golf course is a separate issue, has been applied for and is also awaited.

Can't see much use in waiting 2-3 years for a golf apartment/Villa, to then be told it would be ready but with no Golf Course!
I have also just had a response to my questions from Corvera/Calidona. Basically telling me everything is 'Rosey' and that planning will be given soon. It then says
"All clients will receive a letter from our developers Calidona shortly to inform of the building situation in more detail."
I can't wait!

Below is the reply I received this morning from Rosa at Corvera!
"It is our intention to build the golf course at the same time as phase 1 & 2, we hope to start the golf course early next year. It is possible that it won´t be open for playing on when 1 & 2 are completed and then clients will be able to play at Roda. Starting next month construction will take 18 months more or less therefore phase 1 & 2 will be completed in the first quarter of 2009"

Hi all
Here's my reply from Rosa at Corvera
I was sent your email from alistair at Macanthony and would like to apologise if you feel that we havent responded to your emails as we have always been here to answer any enquiries that clients may have. please contact me in future.
The delay has been, as you say, due to the backlog at the townhall. we are not the only development suffering this but we are nearer to the final hurdle than most. Whereas before the townhall was taking 3 to 6 months in issuing licenses they are now taking a year or more. We applied for the final license in June last year which is why we expected to start in April this year. We have had publication in an official bulletin (BORM) of the approval of the whole resort and are now waitng for the final goahead so we can get the cranes in and start to erect both phase 1 & 2 at the same time.
please get in touch should you need any more information.
regards
Kev

It seems like the same old explanation to me.
It doesn't clarify why I was told in May by Corvera that approval had already been given subject to Corvera asking for it to be rubber stamped in September, when they intended to start work- plainly not true. It also does not clarify why an environmental impact study is still necessary before the golf course can be approved. It doesn't clarify why Calidona feel it is in order not to bother informing customers of what is going on when there are delays.
Rosa says the town hall is now taking a year or more. Self-evidently it is more than a year as Calidona have waited 15 months to date. The final thing the response doesn't clarify therefore is why this is and when they expect approval now.
As I said, 'same old same old'.

I am not writing at this point in time as I am travelling to Spain later this week so will be trying to get the latest then. I am still happy to consider suitable actions cum October and will write sooner depending on what story I hear when I visit Corvera.
Cheers

I have bought on phase 2 and my 2nd stage payment is due 15/09/07. In view of the lack of progress i am considering delaying payment until the licence is issued at the very least-has anyone else done this and what are the ramifications??

Hi Everyone. I was at the site on Thurs, September 6th and the lorries and guys were out working but the Calidona man I spoke to gave same old story I'm afraid building licence will be in place Sept/Oct. I'm not worried and the explanation was as always the Town Hall and the Spanish bureaucracy. You can clearly see the islands for all the stages now and the basic road structure is there together with the new area which will form the main entrance.
I learnt a few things I didn't know on this trip. Each section of apartments for instance has their own pool. You can't visit other pools on the development which I guess is a plus.. it will limit numbers. Villa owners for instance won't be able to use apartment pools... with their own pools I suppose you wouldn't want to but I think it's a plus.
I didn't know where the main entrance would be and they will shortly be cutting through the hill so the entrance will have a more direct route to the main road.
I didn't know there was a cemetry at the right side of the hill in the valley... that was a surprise and also the sports facilities are open to the public. I thought they were exclusively for the residents. Presumably because they are public, like the course that won't come into our management fees?
I had a really good look around Corvera Town. There aren't many shops but the basics are there a bank, pharmacy, 3-4 bars, hairdressers, fish shop!! there's also a physiotherapist. I'm sure it will expand over the years.

Very heartening news! I was aware that the sports facilities would be for public use and the swimming pools for local residents - was told this in 1995 when I put the deposit down. You didn't happen to take any photographs by any chance!
