Galgos del Sol (Murcia) makes saving galgos in Spain a reality!

Today .. 25th June ..Alibar's President comes to see the results of their hard work by visiting the land. Galgos del Sol appreciates so much all that Barbara and the team have done... Let's not forget all their wonderful supporters and buyers of these crazy hats! Here is what Barbara has to say ....

Can you guess how much GdS spend on dog food per month? What you see here on this palette is ten days worth.....
Depending on special diet needs and puppies cost is between 1500€ and 2000€ per month!!!

First here's a great photo of Tina on the land now purchased for GdS for their centre.

Then Sam's arrived from Madrid to help for a week. She never stops working!

And more Lizard boy fans from all over the world. More tshirts with a new design will be available when phase 2 of the centre begins.

Hank was found paralysed, lying in his own faeces, on the streets of Cartagena. People pleaded for GdS to put him to sleep but they took a chance and Hank was operated on.

Now known as the famous Lizard boy (and Hanksta the Gangsta) there is just no stopping him!!! He is called the lizard boy because of the way he walks. Hank we love you, you're a miracle boy!

To obtain more funding for Galgos del Sol for their forthcoming centre GdS ordered a number of tshirts with Hank lizard boy on them. 

Here are many of the photos that are now coming into GdS from supporters who've bought tshirts. All these particular tshirts are now sold but a new design will be coming out so those who missed out the first time can have a lizard tshirt soon.

"Early start as Warrick heads off to the USA to SHUG!

Warrick is one of Paquis sons. She gave birth in the streets and it was all systems go to try and catch her. We tried darting and trapping but nothing worked. 

Luckily a lady called Paqui managed to close her gate when she passed into her garden. Mum and babies now safe and the babies now grown up are off to new homes.

Bobby was hit by a car and left to die on the motorway until a kind local school teacher stopped and picked him up to take him to the vets. X-RAYS showed that the bones in his back left leg were completely shattered and left no other option but to amputate the leg. 

Unfortunately that wasn't all. Bobby had a fractured hip and had broken all his toes in his back right leg. One toe was even broken in two places. Bobby had a very large vet bill and no place to go. Galgos del Sol decided to take him on board and pay for his treatment. 

Bobby went into foster care as soon as he left the clinic and there he started his long recovery after an operation to amputate one of his back legs and another operation to put pins in all his broken toes. The recovery was tough but Bobby showed all signs of wanting to live and make a full recovery.

Bobby loves being with people & gets on well with both big and small dogs. He is the most loving little guy ever.

6 months on ......Bobby is ready for his forever home!

"Understandably, with so much money being raised for the new centre, there are so many questions that people have. Two of the questions being raised are 'Who is the president of GDS? Who will own the land and the centre?"

Here I am, Tina, President of Galgos del Sol.

Along with support from close friends I founded GDS back in 2011 after becoming involved in animal rescue I decided I wanted to concentrate on the galgos as it was the pencil noses that completely stole my heart.

Since then my mind has never stopped working on how we can improve the situation for the galgos here in Murcia. 

Regarding the land and the centre itself it will be owned by Galgos del Sol not me. I will not be a millionaire after this but thousands of galgos will benefit greatly. If you see me in a Ferrari trust me I stole it, not bought it (joke), so, for those with doubts, this land and new venture will be owned by the charity protected by solicitors, accountants and board members.
