Galgos del Sol (Murcia) makes saving galgos in Spain a reality!

Friday, 23rd November. 7.30pm till 11.30pm

A fundraiser for Galgos del Sol organised by Zoe Moran. 10€ per ticket, this includes a meal.  
 

MENU - Beef and ale pie and chips or chicken curry and chips
Veges - Mushroom stroganoff and spagetti or vegetarian stir fry with chips or rice.
Come along, chillax, eat some nice food, raise some money for the galgos and go home drunk as a skunk!

 Lucky, this sweet old man, needs a quiet life NOW!

One more push for Lucky please. Its not his fault he ended up in a galgo rescue, not many could tell he's not a galgo  but seriously he isn't... not many options for him here at Galgos del Sol.

Approximately 7yrs old, castrated, great with other dogs. He had a little liver trouble but that has been treated. We can only re-home in Spain as we dont have a back up abroad for this type of dog and we cant send without a back up. Sorry.

COME ON peeps where is his home in Spain????

Yesterday (Thursday 25th October) Galgos del Sol took on this little family in celebration of all the support with the recent online auction. The first rescue with this money!

Picked up off the street and put in a perrera, already 4 puppies have died. Let's hope GdS can save the rest.

Big thanks to Sylvie for doing the transport... they have called the mum LLUVIA & her pups are now named Luna (Moon), Sol (Sun), Tormenta (Storm) & Rayo (Lightning).

STOLEN. The second galgo billboard (this one by GalgoDutchLobby) that was only erected on 2nd October, is down and gone! The publicity company will replace free of charge for DutchGalgoLobby but we may look for a new location, a location close to where Galgos del Sol can supervise more often..... Looks like feathers are being ruffled again!

After I wrote this post,   Galgos del Sol had so many parcels, thank you, everyone who sent one.

PLEASE NOTE: People from the USA and Canada have kindly sent GdS parcels. Sadly for some when they have arrived GdS has been asked to pay heavy taxes. For one item 72 euros, another 53 euros and this is after they have paid extremely high postage prices. Unfortunately we can't pay these taxes so either the parcels have been returned or the sender gets stuck with more expense. Please please bear this in mind before sending to us from the USA or Canada. We are so sorry  Better to send money and we will send someone shopping on your behalf. Sorry to those stung. We weren't aware.

On the GdS Facebook page there are comments from friends of GdS to help get over the problem in future.

Examples are:

1) They should be marked: gift with no value and put a value of 1 dollar or so. I have never had to pay tax/customs on gifts/donations from the US.

2) Make sure the value is listed as being under $22.00 and mark as a gift or personal.

3) My postmaster tells me to always mark the package and customs slip as "Used Goods for Greyhound Adoption", and to give it a value of only $1.00.

Galgos del Sol took Ted from a hunter after they spotted him and saw how sick he was. His rescue wasn't easy but they managed to get him in the end. He was sick with leish and erlichia. Approx two months later he is already looking so much better. He is an old man so it's slow progress but now he can run, play and is happy to live. 

His ankles are no longer red raw and swollen, his wounds have healed and the leish is being treated. What do you think so far?

Below: These ankles used to be red raw and swollen. The nails were overgrown and loose and the pads of his feet had overgrown due to the disease and he could hardly walk. Now they are no longer swollen, red or bleeding and not only can he walk but runs like the wind!!!

This is the work (part of it) GdS do, rescue galgos from terrible situations & care for them until a good home is found.

Money raised through this auction will go towards the costs of some of the galgos GdS currently is looking after, having rescued them. Marisol's biopsy, Sofia's operation for her broken hip and the intensive treatment for Leishmania currently being given to Valiente,Ted and Mia.

There are so many Galgos and Podencos abandoned and roaming the streets already,and the Hunting Season continues until January. More and more will be abandoned daily,and their fate will be the killing stations or a slow death from injury or starvation.Galgos del Sol will do everything they can to help save them,but this means that they will be continually faced with the vet bills,to get these beautiful souls healthy again,and free from pain. 

We all know that they cannot all be saved,but YOU can help more of them have the future they deserve before they become another victim of their uncaring masters.
