Electricity is coming in the next week, the auction will hopefully finish paying for the water to be brought over and then it's systems go on getting the center up.

Our current facilities are not long term sustainable for the amount of galgos we have and still coming in! The Galgos of Murcia need us and this center! Here is a fraction of our day yesterday and today we can expect more!

Yesterday Galgos del Sol suffered hugely with the storms that are causing mayhem in many areas of Spain at present & the rain continues! Currently their rescued dogs (estimated at 100)  are kept at two areas in the Murcia area of the Costa Blanca just a few kms from each other but space is very tight at each & so that's why the new centre is so necessary. Yesterday Tina had to battle with her normal routine as well as ensuring her dogs were safe from the rising waters.

Keeping fit at GDS!!!!

A new billboard has been erected in Pilar de Horadada at the top of the high street. Translation is "For those dogs that survived and those who sadly did not make it. Galgos del Sol and the first 800 names"

* * * Please join our GDS 16 Dog a Day Initiative. Honour a dog and save a galgo! Make a 16 euro donation (per name) for your own loved dog(s) — living or passed, or a GDS dog.

All names will be commemorated on a billboard as well as a permanent wall mural in the future GDS centre. 

The mural in the centre will also include a list of all donor names in addition to dogs’ names. Now that the land has been purchased, all proceeds from the initiative will go to funding kennels and a building for the new centre.

21/9: Dirty muddy naughty Sunday morning puppies!

Over 1000 dogs names now on the memorial wall!

Just to remind you where we are at with the centre. We are so close to work being able to start... Once we complete the 16 dogs a day we have enough to pay for the electricity to be brought in. Please please share the 16 dogs a day initiative so 1) The electricity is paid for and 2) we can start the next fun fundraiser. 

Remember Murcia is a problem area for Galgos and abandonment/cruelty and this center will change the world for so many for so many years to come! Together we can build something amazing! Thank you!

Candy's 10 puppies still need donations towards their food. Thanks to your donations before we were able to bottle feed them and for the last two weeks they have been slowly weened onto solids!

By the time this post is published there'll be more dogs names on the memorial wall to be put in the new centre. There have been a selection of names of us humans too added to the wall for helping GdS achieve all it has, I'm one who has been nominated & added to the board. That's me .. Janice White top almost centre .. All I've done is create this blog but many read it & spread the word. To date there have been 261,544 views! It's wonderful to feel so appreciated. Thank you Tina.
