Hi Pinot
Pleased that you saw genuine progress on the pool site. We had our meeting on Wednesday this week with Taray, though not much extra to let you know about this time as the hand-over to council has been slightly delayed, so didn't get to meet the mayor of San Cayetano to ask about various infrastructure issues.
One point that we did raise was with regard to the facilities that the leisure area was intending to provide. We have asked that the proposed golf driving range could be changed to allow a 'play area' for the older children that live here on site - or indeed ones here on holiday. Currently they are restricted to play in the streets, gardens, car parks, or kick balls up against peoples' properties. With the municipal golf driving range just having closed down in San Javier due to non-use, it seemed a sensible idea to provide something more useful to the community as a whole, rather than this area sit idle. Taray were very open to the idea, will need to go before planning at the council as a modification to original plans, but certainly nothing that would hold up the rest of the current work.
Building work is currently running about 3 weeks behind schedule, but excavation of the pool is expected by the 26th of this month, so hopefully they can begin to pull back on some of the time lost due to the weather.
Next meeting is now planned for either the 5th or 12th May, dependent on the hand-over, so will keep all posted as to developments.

With regard to the suggestion of a play area instead of a golf driving range as a parent and grandparent one of the reasons that we bought in san cayetano was for the facilities that were offered. Children will play where they want to, not where you tell them to if they are older, they should play in their own gardens, there is enough park areas in san cayetano and also opposite calle nectarina the park area is very large and when we are in san cayetano we see children playing there and lots of room to kick balls about.
After waiting for three years for the facilties i am not happy with this suggestion at all, just because the golf driving range has closed in san javier does not mean that one in san cayetano will not be used. Did you not think it would be nice to contact all people who have bought properties on san cayetano and ask them about what they feel about this suggesetion? We are paying our fees just like everybody else or is this just the chosen few that can decide. Am sure that Taray will be open to the idea of not having a driving range as it is much cheaper for them to have another play area !!
with regards Rosita

Hello all
Glad to hear of the progress although somewhat slow although I would like to say that I agree with Rosita. We already have one play area and as both my husband and son play golf they would like to have the driving range to practice their swing. This should have been put to a public vote as it seems that it is just a few people who want the play area so have gone ahead and spoken to Taray without asking anyone else if they minded the change of plan.

We agree whole heartedly with the other replies. Why should it be up to a small minority to change plans. Being asked about it as a home owner would have been nice in the first place.Lets all get together and have discussion about this matter rather than someone just deciding. There are plenty of places for children and young adults to meet and play, NO MORE.

My hubby is dissapointed with the change. The only chance he will get to use his golf clubs has now vanished. He was looking forward to using that golf range with the kids.
I thought opposite phase 2 was going to be an upgraded football pitch plus the school football/basketball pitch is always open for the kids on weekends and after school hours plus the ramblers has a park along side 3 other parks in the village.

We also agree with the other replies, we want a golf driving range as promised when we purchased.
We trust that the group that put the proposal forward will be on the phone to Taray on Monday morning telling them to put that idea on hold, until it can be discussed properly with other property owners.

Our president did not consult us either and that seems to be across the board judging by these posts. It seems the presidents are looking after their own interests. We paid for a golf range and Taray need to deliver. It does not make any differnece if the San javier driving range has shut down that has nothing to do with Taray. Holiday makers like myself come to relax and part of that for me is the driving range. What next? Will the presidents decide we do not need a pool or tennis courts? What are these presidents trying to do, de-value our properties and renting potential?

Agree with the replies also. We paid for a driving range and taray must deliver. It is not up to a few to decide what is best. Taray have provided a brochure and plan of the lesiure area and the law is they must provide what they show. How arrogant are these presidents? A president is supposed to speak on behalf of the community as a whole not run their own agenda.
I will be speaking with my solicitor Monday to see if taray can change plans that they have sold without any consultation whatsoever.

Who exactly asked for these changes to be made? I know that nobody has asked me! There are plenty of golfers and would be golfers who will use the facilities and quite possibly bought their property here in San Cayetano so that they would be able to practice. I suspect that the people who want the changes are people who don't like to see kids enjoying themselves and making their own fun.
I will be going into Taray's office on Monday to tell them my views and the views of the many who have posted here.
Whoever instigated this had no right whatsoever. If people don't want to see children playing they should have moved to a 'retirement village'.

The suggestion to change of use from golf driving range to a facility for children was just that - a suggestion. Obviously from comments received it is something some people don't want to see happen.
Nothing was cast in stone and just as easily can be put back.
The presidents/vice presidents were certainly not looking after their own interests, rather that of the community as a whole when comments about children playing outside their houses were coming from other people on the urbanisatiion.
It should be remembered that it is those same presidents/vice presidents that got the communication set up between Taray and the communty as a whole and were able to provide up-dated reports as to the progress of facilities for everyone, not just a few. There has never been any personal agenda going on, just a desire to get things moving for the good of the whole urbanisation.
Communication has already gone back to Taray that facilities should stay as they are.

Hi
I think many people appreciate you having these meetings with taray and keeping us updated, well i for one do, i think it has just come as a shock to many people that they may be losing the driving range. I have kids so either way i dont care but for many it must have come as a bit of a shock that taray were willing to change something so important (especially after all that has happened regarding the leisure area) without even so much as an email to its customers on the say so of a small group. That is quite frightening.
Harry and Dave your doing a good job keeping us updated and thank you but please if we are gonna lose the golf range could we please have a doggy race track instead where my guapo would seriously kick ass hehe

Having not gone into my computer for a few days I am absolutely "gob-smacked" to read that it has been suggested we do without the driving range and, instead, have a playground for children! Hopefully having received the opposition I have been reading this morning this will revert back to the original plan of a driving range!
I have waited three long years to get the facilities we were promised when we signed up with Taray to have our house built - please make sure we have all the facilities promised including a driving range. I certainly was not approached when in San Cayetano for two weeks over Easter about how I felt about doing away with the driving range. Hopefully at the next meeting, if not before, things will revert back as they should be. Those of you who feel as strongly as I do, and live in San Cayetano, will I know speak up on behalf of the owners who, as yet, are unable to retire and live out there!
Presidents/Vice Presidents please take note of what the owners say, after all you are appoointed to speak on our behalf and carry out our wishes.

Am i mistaken, were we not told that there would be a football pitch anyway, we didn't buy our property to just accommodate children, we have children and grandchildren but also we want facilities for the adults there are enough play areas for children to play in, and neither are we ready for a retirement home, we bought the property because we liked the plan for the facilities, as it would accommodate everyone, be it three years late, this is not the time to start changing plans, just finished what we were promised, some of us who are not fortunate enough to be able to retire there yet would like to be able to rent properties out, with facilities for everybody to enjoy. an area for dogs to be exercised would be nice with poo bins, but can't see that happening.

As a non resident it is very appreciated the work that has gone on by many different people to get our promised Leisure facilities built and up & running. For what it is wortth, I too hope we are provided with the facilities as per the plans we were given over 12 months ago.
The one thing that I find most disappointing is that the only way we know about events is through this public forom. Taray within their web site have an 'owners club' section which I do not believed is used. Many similar organisations have incorporated a forum page which is only accessed by 'members' and the Company. Can the presidents arrange for this to be operational, passwords issued only to owners of the properties and Taray encouraged to publish updates.

As both a golfer and a parent my concern is slightly different in that the space designated for the "driving range" is way too small - a driving range needs at least 200 metres of clear space. Are we sure from Taray that this is what they intended, or are they thinking more along the lines of a couple of nets?
Also driving ranges are inherently dangerous places if not adequately supervised, especially for kids - has there been any discussion regarding how the whole "sports complex" will be manned, especially the driving range?
As a golfer and a parent I have no agenda here but I don't fancy the idea of golf balls flying about all over the place!!

Like another forum member, I have not been into my laptop for a few days so am only now picking up on this thread. Just to add my tuppence worth - I believe we should have the driving range as promised, rather than chopping and changing ideas at this stage, and after all, it the driving range was a decided upon facility that all prospective owners were comfortable with, hence going ahead and buying, as opposed to this latest suggestion, which clearly has met with some strength of feeling against it.
But more importantly for me, as others have said, it is completely unacceptable that owners are reliant on forum members for news on what is being proposed or agreed. How can we ensure this type of thing doesn't happen again? as if it hadn't been for H&D's posting this could (would!) have ended up as a done deal!

After 3 years of inactivity on these facilities I cant believe that anyone would want to meddle with the progress now being made and give Taray an excuse to slow or postpone the works for discussion!
Keep the momentum and finish the site as advertised! As a non golfer Im looking forward to taking it up ...in SC soon!
As always, many thanks for those of you posting information.

Thanks H&D for clarifying that.
From your initial post it sounded like a done deal......thankfully it was only a suggestion. Phew!! Anyone who is able to keep the masses informed is doing a sterling job but it looks like the way you worded your initial post led to a barrage of no no no's. I suppose its one way of finding out what the people want!
Thanks again for the rest of the information.
