Arrived back yesterday. Been to see the apartments, Outside barriers have been removed from pavement, went into building through garage which is still full of water although beginning to dry out. Went through hole in roof of garage into main building looked into several apartments. Most are tiled walls and floors. Some hallways have supporting pillar blocking half of corridor this leaves a measurement of around 20" (not a lot of room to get any furniture passed the bedroom or bathroom). Still that wont affect everyone. Every area as far as we could see will still need a lot of work, possibly several months to complete, cannot in any way see that this will be finished in December this year. Saw James at Palmera in Alicante, he has not heard from the builder although nothing happens in August. He said they want a meeting with the builder as soon as September comes and when he gets it in writing that the work will start he will let everyone know straight away. He said the builder is poor with cash flow but rich in land and he has to sell land to get anymore money. If this does not happen he can either sell to another builder or the bank will finish the build.
The new access road has been put in at the back of the building leaving the small park area as shown on the original model in the Almoradi shop. Whether this land will stay with the build - who knows. Some of the building work is suspect quality but it is superficial as it will be rendered over or tiled.
Our overall opinion is that if it gets finished we should have quite a nice apartment block. We have people over there who will let us know if they see any workmen on site. There is still a large crane there which is probably on hire so all is not lost. James did say that these flats will get finished one way or another.

If this keep's up and it goes past January i think we should get compensation because the build is suppose to be finished by october 2006 then legaly they have 3 more month = january 2007 After this date we can if we want to take them to court in spain ( a long dragged out thing dont really want to do this ) but i think we all should get a grand nocked off at least - saying that i dont know if we will

Just a small point ot anyone buying largish furniture to go into the living/dining area, in some flats there is a pillar that cuts off some of the corridor. It is only in some apartments and can be seen on the floor plan in your contract and also in the 5981 set of photos. It might be a problem if you have a high floor apartment, otherwise any awkward pieces could go in through the patio doors.

I'll be in the Almoradi area from 08/10/2006 to 21/10 .I will be pestering Urbasa and Palmera while I'm there .I may give them a hand with the work if it helps. JOKE!!! I'm too bloody old. If they don't start soon I'll not get a lot of use from it. I retired last september and was told, all them years ago, that I would be residing in Almoradi most of the time. Bloody missed one year up to now. B&Q may be my next stop!!

To be honest, if the work was done by the end of November, I personally would be a bit worred.
Looking at the recent photos, there seems to be a lot of work to be done and I'm worried they are going to forego the quality of the work to just rush it through to get the job done quicker.
I realise Philansy that you are keen to get in your apartment, we are are, but I would rather it took a couple of months longer an they made a good job of it or we are going to have snagging lists as long as our arms.
I guess as they have not not to worry about fitting a kitchen the work will be done quicker but I just hope what they do finish off, is good quality..

I would rather wait if it meant they were to do a better job but when the spanish workers do start there work they seem to fly through it in no time
I guess we all have warranty's on the building anyways

life in almoradi 21 09 06
nice and sunny, lovely way of life, everything that you want is here. Three supermarkets, including a mercadona, another is a 24 hour, doctors, chemists, bars.
Now on to the important sutff, went to the development monday, small result, two workmen, doing work to the exterior, apart from that nothing, looks like things are going to start, side road is now closed off, with what looks like building materials delivered. Been in the apartments, most of them are exactly the same, couldnt get onto top floor, the roadside ones are virtually complete, just cosmetic finishing required, the side and the rear apartments need doors, baths and showers etc. The apartments which are on the corner are the best ones, with bigger lounges, although a pillar goes down towards the rear of the lounge. Loads of pictures to upload when we return to uk. Grupo have said that they expect to start work october, she mentioned twenty builders will be on site, however am not holding my breath, it appears no financial problems are eveident now at Grupo, as they have sold a large plot of land, and are working on other developments in infancy and in progress. Quizing her she or none of her colleagues have ever had to wait for their wages. Keep fingers crossed.

Nice one.
Many thanks misty, all and any reports are most welcome. I will also look forward to more piccies. My appartment is on the back, so a fair bit of work is still needed, who cares, as long as they are moving on with the build again. Two workmen is better than none, even if it's just cleaning up the site.
Thanks again
skinner
