Water and electric now back on.  Iberdrola cut electric to whole site - hence no luz y agua - due to unpaid SJ bill.  Problem sorted by administrators.

Cost of developers supply for electricity is higher than residential so difficult to make comparisons.

I have yet to take in all the information that is online but ......

It would be nice to think that the administrator were going to go after all nationalities (if its that neccessary) and not just target people in the UK!

I am talking to my solicitor about the matter of collecting due monies!

I am still concerned about the meter bieng fitted without testing any of the cabling. Also do Iberdrola give their approval? A fault in one propery could cause fatal consequenses in another properties the way it's wired at the moment.

We need insurance for the pool areas, not the whole building site, as it is.

give your bank account details,  at your own risk, without any numbers. Unless you are truely lacking even a single cell in your brain Do not do it. Also do not be intimidated by any threats.

I get the impression that most people are going to wait and see before handing over any money for the meters. It is a good idea in principle, but I don't see the important questions being answered. About Iberdrola, have they been consulted and is someone going to check the cables that have been drapped around the place for the last 8 years in all weathers.

Am going to make the requested payments into the existing accounts, but will not pass my bank details. It seems that they are more capable at getting things done, eg. last week, they fixed the broken pipe problem which stopped my water supply, fixed within 24 hours. They appear to have carried out and identified various areas of concern re structural faults...not done by previous people. Having paid all moneys to date, I cannot see the point in not making one or two further payments to see if all the promises are delivered

Well we received the information from the new administrators today. After all the rubbish and broken promises we have had over the years this actually looks impressive, professional and committed to the task. Infact, for the first time, the outlooks appears quite positive. We will pay for our meters and,  although reticent to send our bank details we will, however, be paying our monthly community charge in the hope that all this will be sorted one day.

Perhaps its time for some positive thinking!

Hi Leo

We have just paid for the meters and are going to continue to make monthly payments bur are a wee bit reluctant to pass the bank details. If they tell me where to pay I will make the payments in the meantime

Paul

Hi paul,

I think i saw an advert for the Post office saying that you can transfer money abroad for free so am gonna check this out - it may then be possible to set up a standing order through them - I actiually don't see why they need our bank details - we can pay them while over in spain or set up an arrangement from here. Also, if metered, we will not know for a while what individual owners have to pay?  However, it does appear good and positive progress.

Cheers,

Leo

If it is a 'free transter' then the rate will be poor as they need to make a profit. There have been articles written about transfering or withdrawing money abroad in most papers. If you give your bank details away and 'something goes wrong' your bank will lay the fault on your shoulders. I personally would not give any bank details to British Gas or any other utility. I pay whe I get the bill. For most of us I suppose that it will be inevitable that this may involve some delay, however if you are only there for a few weeks the bill could be small and anticipated.

Hi,

thanks for that. Will check it out - currently I send money abroad using a standard transfer from my bank which has a small surcharge for european destinations - it can be done online almost instantly - a day or two. The other option is to walk into the post office with cash and the account details and send it that way. Will find out which is cheaper.

I have had an account with a Spanish bank for the last 7 years, so I do not need to worry too much about the rate of exchange on a monthly basis, or the delay in arranging a transfer, but I am still not comfortable in initially passing any account details that would give them carte blanche access.

I am, however impressed that an e-mail query which I sent to the new guys was answered within 24 hours. They certainly seem more efficient and more in tune with what needs to be done.

I'm also impressed with the new administrators, but don't trust things that much to give bank details. It must be that they can request money (direct debit) without keep asking the account holder each time. The other thing at the moment is the exchange rate. If they are going to send in the debt collectors lets hope it fair and they go after all nationals.

I hope things are tested when fitting the meters and Iberdrola is made aware.

Its interesting on the EP site saying about trying to use a/c while cooking and the pool going etc. No wounder the bills are so high!! We have, when out there been lucky to run the cooker with anything else running. We don't have a pool either.

We shall see how things go, its a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed.

Why (or is it the uk 'no win no fee'  mentality) is insurance needed. Surely a sign stating that you use at your own risk is sufficient.

It works for all the supermarkets.

After all it is a pool for the owners. All should have their own public liability insurance on their household policies. For those who should no be there, well they should not be there.

We still have not had the issue of money addressed nor the limits of any committees powers sorted.

I suspect the cost of all this will be as much as the fees (when applicable) themselves.

New powerline needed, how many years for that?

Watch for the screw you monthly fee ooops standing charge.

Finally, I still can't understand how I have a debt that someone thinks they can chase me for. I had a contract for services to be supplied until COH. I have not changed that contract and AA or others do not have my authority to do so.

It's good to see some activity on the forum and to know at least some owners' thoughts on the situation re new Administrators, own meters, etc.     Just to add my two pennyworth ...    I agree Vivendoo seem on the ball so far and I can understand why it will take them a while to sort out the finances.    In the meantime, I have transferred my 141.60 euros to the appropriate community bank account although I gather that unless all the owners do this they can't go ahead with the meters, so I guess there's a strong possibility it won't proceed.   If that's the case, then at least this is a credit on the accounts of those who've paid.    It's a bit annoying to be paying 1.50 euros for each transfer I make when Direct Debits are free but I'm not happy to provide my bank account number just yet.   Once things are sorted I will do so and pay for community fees this way.     As far as I can see, nothing has been mentioned yet about how much we are paying Vivendoo and who's actually paying for the water and electricity.    Is there generally enough received from community charges to cover these or are SJ contributing?     Does anyone know?
